Ægir.

Ægir, meaning ocean, is the giant of the sea, as well as its king. He is the personification of the power of the waves and tides. When at sea the waves represent his presences.

He lives in his magnificent halls in the depths of the ocean with his goddess wive Rán. He is a gracious and calm host but he lusts for gold. Therefore gold might be used as an offer to honour him.

Rán

Rán, meaning robber, corresponds to the more sinister aspects of the sea, in context of drowning unfortunate seafarers and dragging them down to dwell in her underwater halls. Therefore Rán is goddess of the storms and the drowned dead. So when faring on sea for a longer period it might be wise to keep her presence in mind.

Rán’s road to the moon soared upwards.”
