“i might. i’ve been high all day,” she confesses, although she doubts he’s surprised. as they both know, absolutely drowning out her issues with substances was how she usually reacted to things for the initial aftermath. “to be fair. it’s as crazy as you and max, so…” she says, trying to put a little teasing into the serious conversation. it’s difficult, though. heartbroken might be too far, but juliet was certainly hurting thanks to his best friend. 

“but that sounds kinda good. getting out of here for a little bit will be nice.” she decides again, shuffling in her seat slightly as the haze of the previous drugs slides away. “thanks.”

“i noticed,” he replies with a knowing grin. “you’ve got a point there.” he and max were quite the complicated pair back when they were sleeping together. that was purely physical, though, as a lot of eli’s flings tended to be. “i’m glad you’re up for it.” and with that, he increases his speed.

when they arrived at the beach, elijah fished a small tin from the depths of his backpack. he holds out his arm to juliet, and together, they walk towards their usual spot. as soon as eli sits down, he packing a bowl. although his mind is still working in overdrive to block out images involving juliet and ezra, he remains rather quiet. once he finishes packing, he immediately lights the end and takes a long hit, without offering it to juliet first. this wasn’t how he had expected the night to go.

“so, you and ezra are over?”
