Sammy sees someone shoot his dog and shoots back. Someone shoots Sammy. Kevin Harris sees someone shoot a kid and he shoots back killing Degan. After the dust had settled Harris was tried for killing a federal agent and acquitted because he couldn't have known it was a federal agent. Common sense would dictate some unidentified asshole was shooting at them and he was purely acting in self defense.

ive invented (note: dubious claim) something i call the bear diet which is mostly fruits and vegetables with fish as the main protein source and something like once a month you eat a few hyperprocessed foods of your liking because that is when you, the bear, raid a dumpster in the suburbs
