“My lips are sealed, kind sir.” She smiled softly. “Thank you so much. You’ve shared some good information to start with. Though I realized we don’t know each other’s names.”

“I’m Deborah, and you are?”

——— “Archfather Glorian, at your service.” Zain bows a bit flamboyantly, finishing it off with a hearty chuckle.

“I’m sure he does a great job.” Debbie nodded. “But if he doesn’t like people knowing about his personal experience, I won’t bring it up to him when I eventually meet him.”

“A land of nobles and knights… I could get used to this, in due time.” Secretly, she’ll miss watching her favorite TV show each week, but surely there were other ways to keep herself entertained. Or maybe she could put herself to work again?

——— “It’s not that bad! Really!” He nods. Although his job had hardships… and his lover’s job had hardships… and, well, Lithos and Fidel’s jobs also had hardships…. He still tried to look on the bright side of things. “And, ah, yes. Good plan. Don’t let him know I told you he used to be a commoner.”

——— “He truly is. A good friend of mine, and one of the finest knights in the realm. He doesn’t like it disclosed, but he was once in the system himself, but he also works with the guard, so he’s familiar with both duty and receiving aid. Ah, I suppose fortunately as a noble I don’t know much about that personally.” 

"So there's no way home? That's... hm, a shame, but I suppose this is my life now." Debbie shook her head. "I'm going to miss everyone, though."

“…You’ve probably seen others in my situation, how do you think they manage? Maybe something here can ease my nerves.”

——— “It’s... sad news, yes. But, on the bright side!” 

There.... wasn’t really a bright side, was there? He didn’t exactly know how to continue with that statement. He frowns, scratching his beard.

“.... Hm.. no, I suppose nothing can exactly... replace what’s been lost. But- we do have beautiful beaches, if you’d care for a stroll. You’re likely here without coin, but there are plenty of places willing to feed travelers for free, or in exchange for stories and tales of your home. That might be a spot where you could meet someone to help get you back on your feet.”

He pauses again. “Perhaps I should've spoken to Lithos a bit more on this. He’d know more on the common aide or welfare side of things.”
