Yes, what Jack does to Stede is bullying. Bullying is a form of abuse. Again, many posts, many breakdowns.

Professional, trained media and literary critics do actually understand characters through a nuanced lens and are able to extrapolate depictions of things like abuse even if the writers of the media never explicitly say “this character/relationship is abusive.”

The last chapter was a bit rough, but thanks for sticking with me. I love these two men so much.

This is a much calmer Stede chapter in which he takes some time out to process things.

Izzy does not think that Lucius has a real job. He has a “woman’s job.” He’s not laboring so he’s not working. He tries to bully Lucius because he thinks Lucius is an easy target as a femme man and femme men are not “real men” - hence why he keeps using feminized slurs. He thinks he can shame Lucius into obeying him. And Lucius, rightly, tells him “you’re not my captain.”
