From tigress pov kung fu panda is really shitty to her DONT GET ME WRONG I LOVE THE MOVIES W MY WHOLE HEART (not the 4th one tho). Like ur dad barely gives u the time of day after ADOPTING u, so u train to be the best version of urself he would b proud of, and come the dragon warrior thing, see you’ve probably trained till ur bones broke ur whole life. And then u dont even get to finish ur routine when onward suddenly decides “ahh but no it’s time.” And lo and behold, some fuckin chud falls out of the sky and gets picked despite having NO background in the backbreaking art and, possibly, stole YOUR spotlight. Not that you can even complain about that bit considering her dad’s last kid, also a feline martial artist, killed ppl about not being chosen, so of course you have to be better than tai lung. And the worst part is that it’s not even the panda’s fault. Like, he didn’t mean for ANY of this to happen at all!
like Ykw I get it. Like upon rewatch tigress sis so mean to po who quite literally can’t be blamed, but if I were her I’d be fuckin pissed too. Like I completely get where she’s coming from
But also, vaguely related, I think it’s so fascinating to think that, growing up an orphan, then with an emotionally absent father figure, tigress stumbles across what we can only assume to be a panda orphan in the 3rd movie, who irrevocably clings to her despite her protests. And eventually, she not only warms up to this orphan, but seemingly takes her in, keeping her by her side, playing w her, protecting her, involving her voluntarily without expecting anything of her. Giving this orphan things she never got herself as a child Yeah I kind of wish we got to see more of the Tigress motherhood arc
