For those who DONT want to watch the video
A) Shiggy cancelled StarFox 2, a complete game with open-space random dogfighting and free-roam walking-tank missions with semi-complex puzzles on a SUPER NINTENDO, because his own StarFox 64 wasnāt NEARLY as good, and he didnt want it to make the N64 look bad. Hereās a ROM of the game, just out of spite. itās not piracy, as it was never even released.
B) Shiggy said in an interview that āFans are willing to put up with Mediocre gameplay for the sake of graphicsā, which I would say to be true, if he werenāt talking about Donkey Kong Country. He thought his Super Mario World 2 would be much more successful, because of itās cartoony, crayon artstyle. Donkey Kong Country ended up being the Super Nintendoās 2nd best selling game of all time, and SMW2 didnāt even make half as much.
C) Shiggy took a nearly finished Original game by Rare called āDinosaur Planetā and told them to completely replace all of their lore with Star Fox stuff, and this game became Star Fox Adventures, which fans all know was the downfall of the Star Fox series as a whole. Rare never finished the game, handing all their work over to Nintendo, before selling themselves to Microsoft (not the BEST deal imo, but Iām sure it worked out better than if they had stayed with Nintendo).
D)Ā the guys who made Star Fox 1 and 2, made the FIRST EVER 3D platformer, exclusively for Nintendo, with Yoshi as a main character. Shiggy turned them down and fired the entire dev team from Nintendo, before stealing the idea of a 3D platformer and making Super Mario 64, even going far as to admit he stole it, and paying them royalties. (Usually you agree to settle royalties with PERMISSION, BEFORE use of the idea, not after already taking it.) The original concept for the Yoshi 3d platformer eventually became Croc! (I loved the hell out of Croc 2)
and finally E) DMA was a little known company who made Lemmings and pretty much nothing else at the time. Nintendo funded their development for their brand new game, Body Harvest. This game was to become the first ever fully 3D open world game with a complex story and cool gameplay. Then Nintendo stepped in and tried to make it an RPG due to N64ā²s tanking sales. Then Nintendo of AMERICA tried to step in and tell them it needed to be NOT RPG, because of RPG sales in the US doing poorly. Nintendo even sent Japanese Devs to teach DMA how to make the game. This failed because their translator couldnt understand their thick scottish accents. Then Nintendo flew them to Japan to learn, and the same exact issue occured, and Shiggy literally sat and watched, said nothing, then left. DMA sold the rights to the game to a different company to stay afloat, and ended up working on a new title using their knowledge from Body Harvest. This title became Grand Theft Auto, whose series would become the greatest selling video game series in history, dwarfing the sales of any other series from other media outlets immensely within the span of less than 10 years. DMA changed their name to Rockstar shortly after GTA released. To this day, there has never been a Grand Theft Auto title released on Nintendo home consoles.
