The last scene opens on an empty street

As I await the unraveling of a mystery-

A lone streetlamp the only one to comfort me.

Umbrella in hand,

I shut my eyes,

praying for a happy end.

With a steadied breath,

As I open them again,

The moon strikes the time,

the stars start to shine,

but a knowing feeling settles in my mind.

"But I don't think we can do this anymore"

"It'd be best if you just forget me, and let go."

So this is it,

the ending of our story, unrehearsed

Feet and heart frozen in place

I wasn't able to see the fireworks today but last year I got some pretty photos after deciding to go on an impromptu drive to see it done over the docks for the first time.

Fireworks have always fascinated me with their big and beautiful light. It's such a grounding feeling for me, the sound like thunder through my body. That evening I couldn't help but find myself crying, just in awe at the beauty and brilliance of it. Fireworks always be one of my absolute favorite things!
