coming back from the dead to say donāt get pen and gear notebooks the ink bleeds like crazy. my flair pen bled through and marked the next page this shit is thin asl
hey um donāt say no to going out just because you have to study. you can make time to study. if you know that the whole time youāll be thinking about how you should have just gone out or wishing you werenāt studying, you wonāt be studying effectively anyway. literally just go out. i have a final tomorrow and on friday i got shitfaced because i knew if i said no the whole time i would have been looking at snap stories of all my friends at the bar wishing i was there. i was stupid and i sold my football ticket because i had an exam the next week and i needed to study but i realized the whole time i would be watching the score obsessively and wishing i was there. if you really want to go out, do it because itās a lot better to do a little bit worse on an exam than it is to spend weeks regretting not going to that party where everyone had an amazing time. you donāt need straight As in college, you just need to keep your scholarship or get into grad school.
ik i donāt post a lot on here but that is because iām so busy with school and social life and when i do sit down and do nothing i run my instagram BUT a little update:
iām currently getting over being sick, i took a day off of class the one day i felt like pure shit. i asked for the notes from someone else and got them. sometimes you gotta skip class! donāt be afraid!!
iāve been debating changing my major a lot from forestry, iāve actually considered business but then i said ew, then i thought journalism but then i said ew, then i thought photography but thatās just a general art degree and ya girl canāt draw, so now i need to make an appointment with the career center but i donāt know how!!!! super fun
i have decided that i am going to minor in photography no matter what major i end up in (still havenāt declared the minor tho ahahhah!)
iāve unfortunately been doing progressively worse in all of my classes as the semester rolls on, burnout has hit me so hard. i got an 85 on my first bio exam and i got a 63 on the last one.
in other words, college hard
donāt be afraid to get drunk yāall i got fuckin turnt and i feel GREAT but do ur homework first
hey actually donāt do this!!!! i didnāt get a hangover but now i only feel alive when iām at a party!!!! iām addicted to partying!!!! i want to change my major to business!!!! this is not good!!!!

college essentials
Iāve been in college for the past five years and I thought I could share with you some tips I wish I knew earlier. Iām aware university life can change a lot depending on the country but Iāll try my best to do these as universal as I can
Things to bring with you:Ā
Your phone/laptop charger: This is super important if you take digital notes. Also, bring with you an usb in case you need to re-print that essay in the last minute. I also usually take mental notes of where the plugs are, both in the classrooms and the cafeteria, so I can seat close to it in case I need to charge my laptop.Ā
A water bottle to refill and some snack: It is important to nourish and keep hydrated. Prices in college are fine, but the variety and the healthiness of food is not the best. So I bring with me a snack that is both healthy and enjoyable (a favorite of mine is apple with peanut better or hummus with some bread. Sometimes I indulge in chocolate).
A notebook and a pen: Even if you take digital notes is important to have a backup in case your laptop decharges. Also, I had a few teachers who didnāt want us to use laptops, so you need to be prepared for everything.Ā
Some change: If you didnāt bring snacks with you, keep some coins in your wallet to buy something from the vending machine.
Meds/tampons/pads/band-aids: Bring a toiletries bag with you and keep it stocked. Put your medication in if you take any, and some painkillers. If you have your period, donāt forget to bring with you tampons or pads (this could also save the life of your classmates haha) And some hand-sanitizer!
Bonus track (Optional things that may be useful too):Ā
An umbrella or scarf depending on the climate where you live
A tote bag to carry books from the library
A hair band
Things to do:
Check your email daily: Trust me on this, because email (or online services, whatever your teachers prefer) is the way you are getting noticed of important information such as timetable changes, classroom changes (this one happened to me A LOT). I advice to either synchronize your university mail to your phone so you know when something comes up or check ir first thing in the morning, before your classes start.Ā
Work smarter, not harder: Iām still working on this one. You probably donāt need to read the fifty books your teacher recommend to prepare their subject so you have to learn which tasks are important for your final grade or which one will help you learn better. Reading a 500pages book who is only related to a very small part of the course? Perhaps not. Reading a 500pages book that is a summary of everything your teacher is going to teach? Iād totally read it if I have enough time. It will give me insight and structure to better prepare the subject. You see, in college you have a lot of subjects, and you have to find strategies to get the best result in the less time. Participation grants 30% of your final grade? Totally raise that hand in class. But you have to write five essays and they are only 15% of your grade? Donāt spend 10 hours working on each of them! Of course, Iām aware this is a very personal matter and it totally depends on what are you studying and how do you prefer to study, so adjust anything you need for this to work the best way possible!
Donāt be afraid of not sharing your notes or your exam results: This is also a very personal matter, so you have to do what do you feels itās best. But you are in no way obligated to share your exam marks with anyone or to share your notes with your classmates. I usually share my notes from the day when a classmate is absent from class but sharing the notes from an entire subject I only do for my friends and because I decide to do so. Sometimes I work really hard on my notes: I read a lot of books, put references, and I donāt want to give away that effort. People are usually very comprehensive of this so donāt be afraid to do so if you are not comfortable sharing your notes. Of course, this doesnāt meanĀ ādonāt share anything!!ā as I said, this is a personal choice, if you want to share, itās fine, if you donāt want to, itās also fine.Ā
Raise your hand in class: Ask questions, donāt be afraid to engage in debates in class. This is not highschool, teachers noticing you is good.Ā Thereās a high chance that being participative is important to your final grade and speaking in class may result in the difference between a lower or higher grade. Also, university not only serves to learn stuff, you are also preparing yourself for āreal lifeā. So if you are afraid of speaking in public, think of it as a training for the future.
Engage in activities: Universities usually have a lot of clubs. You can find one thatās related to your interests. Is it politics? Maybe drama? In my college thereās one about Lord of the Rings! This way, you are not only studying, and if you are worried about making friends, Iām sure youāll find a lot of nice people with whom you share interests!
Surround yourself with people who inspire you and makes you feel good: I made some of the best friendships of my life in college.Ā I can talk to them about my day, about shared classes⦠I feel supported.Ā But itās fine if you donāt make friends at college. Really, itās fine. You can have a nice chat with your classmates but if it doesnāt develop into a friendship, itās okay. Rely in your friends and family from outside university to help you de-stress. Vent about your day, about that horrible teacher, let them take care of you. This way, if something happens at college, you will feel supported and the situation wonāt look that bad, Iām sure.
Take care of yourself, both physically and mentally: This is probable the most important tip I can give you. There is so much work and studying to be done in college that sometimes we forget to look at how we feel. So be aware of signals. And, please, donāt feel guilty if you wake up with a fever and you canāt go to class (I advice strongly against going to class ill. Itās not gonna serve you. Youāll feel worse and youāll probably canāt keep with the rhythm of the class). Explain the next day to your teacher why you didnāt came the day before (I usually text one of my classmates so they can do me the favor of explaining the situation to my teacher and then myself I come to talk to them the next day). Same goes with mental health, although itās okay if you donāt want to share the specific details. Itās okay if you just say that you were sick (because thatās the truth). So, what happens when itās mandatory that you go to class? If I feel terrible and in no way I make it to class I usually email my teacher, explaining the situation, and asking if I can do some supplementary work to make up for that day. Teachers are, usually, comprehensive. But if thatās not the case and your fail the subject because you are not feeling well to go to class or you are overwhelmed about the subject and it is making your anxiety going crazy and you end up failing that subjectĀ it-is-okay. IT IS OKAY. The world doesnāt end. Your health should always come in first place. Donāt make yourself miserable attempting to pass a subject when you are in no condition to do so. I failed four subjects last year and end up wasting the entire year because of my anxiety and I had to retake it this year. And Iām glad I did that. This year I feel better and because of that I achieved better results and last year is just a fading memory now. So, please, take care of yourself. Watch the signals, go to the doctor, go to therapy if you can afford it (I know there is some universities with free-therapy programs so look at it) and donāt feel guilty if it has an effect on your grades because you did the best your health allows you to do. And thatās a lot.Ā
Allow yourself to do ānothingā: This tip helps me fight procrastination. When I have to do something Iāll start worrying about it since I wake up. So Iām like āokay, Iāll start this thing in five minutes. After this episode ends. Iāll make a cup of tea and then start studyingā. Obviously, I never study after saying such things. So, allow yourself time where you say: āOkay. I have to do this, but right now Iām gonna enjoy some time without thinking about it but then Iāll start at this timeā. Often we found ourselves thinking that we have to do something all the time, that we need to be productive every single moment, but thatās is not true. You donāt need to constantly feel pressured to do stuff, so erase those thoughts from your mind, and stick to a timetable where you can enjoy some time for yourself without worrying about your obligations.Ā
Think about what do you want to do after university: Donāt be afraid of the future and keep in mind what goals do you want to achieve and choose things that will help you to achieve them. Find scholarships or ask the teacher who is doing exactly your dream job how to achieve it.Ā
I hope this tips will help you. Donāt hesitate to come to my messages if something is unclear (or if you want to give more tips! that would be amazing). Take care of yourself <3
also: bring quarters because laundry
tiger tips: wear your headphones to bed because the walls are so fucking thin
every semester, without fail, thereās some freshman whoās likeĀ āoh I never check my email lolā and i get worried for them, bc theyāre going to miss some important email about a pop quiz or a test, or something and then fail. so if youāre a freshman reading this, CHECK YOUR EMAIL im not joking, professors will send you stuff via email that theyāll never mention in class. Iām in my email every hour on the hour before and after class. check that shit. put that app on ur phone, turn on notifs, go in and refresh every hour, check your spam, check your email
this has been a message from your concerned dad. check ur email, do well in school, i love you
thereās a armed intruder on campus oop thatās just louisiana i guess
iāve moved in almost all the way so here are some tips that are helpful with college dorm shopping!
1. be picky with your comforter (but not too picky)
i was VERY picky with my comforter. i wanted blue and purple stripes on mine. it took a lot of stores to find one that fit. it wasnāt perfect but it was so great.
2. donāt buy colored stuff until you have your comforter
i would rather have some blank walls for a week than a room that looks not put together for a year. i didnāt pick out anything with color until i knew i had the comforter i wanted. you might change your mind if the comforter you want isnāt available/doesnāt exist to be careful
3. donāt buy decorations unless you really want them
itās so easy to walk into bed bath and beyond and see a wooden sign that looks pretty and think āthat might look goodā and buy it. but does your dorm really need a wooden sign that says āhomeā with the O in the shape of louisiana when youāre from chicago? no. does it need a sign that says āfresh boiled crawfishā? probably not. get stuff that you like. because you are going to be living in this tiny room for the next eight months.
4. bring stuff from home!
if you have that one sign hanging in your room that you absolutely love and donāt want to leave it behind, donāt be afraid to bring it. you donāt want to spend money on a new calendar? donāt! i literally took an airplane and i brought decorations from home. just do it.
5. talk to your roommate
decide who is bringing what. you donāt need two fridges and two microwaves and two coffee machines and two clocks and two of everything. also, you might want to get your color schemes to match. get your comforters together. work it out because youāll be sharing the space.
6. hereās just a list of things you might forget.
calendar
extension cord
curtains
area rug
chairs
sharpies
organizers
lights
an extra blanket
toilet paper (even in community style)
shower caddy
something to kill bugs with
also! hit up the dollar store first because they have some good shit. i couldnāt find an over the cabinet towel holder at bed bath and beyond but i found one at the dollar store. i found a jug of water at the dollar store. go to the dollar store!

i decided i should probably blog about my whole college experience both with academics and lifestyle because itās such a big change so i probably wonāt make any masterposts or whatnot but i will talk about my experience.
ugh i emailed my advisor and called him to ask what laptop i should buy but didnāt get a response until today but yesterday was when we bought one since that was when i could so naturally i got a macbook since that is the College Laptop⢠and today he emailed back saying ādonāt get a macbookā so i called him and he said smth like āitās fine but youāll probably have to go to the computer lab sometimes to check if the document is compatible with windowsā which like fine whatever but my parents are acting like the world is gonna end if i donāt get a pc which i just really donāt want a pc i think mac is easier to use and iāve already set up my laptop and everything and i already have all apple stuff so it would be easier because icloud i even have apple music you know but my parents donāt understand technology
update found out mac can run windows AFTER buying a fuckass dell brb Iām a clown
Iām currently planning on defying my parents by re-buying my macbook for an added $150 (which i plan on paying) but i donāt plan on telling my parents about it until after iāve purchased it if you want to stop me you gotta say something now
