No this is not “babies first fandom”, I’ve been in fandoms as long as I’ve had social media, which is about 6-8 years now, I’ve been in multiple fandoms from WOF to Arcane, I’ve seen toxic ships, THIS is not just a toxic ship, THIS is just weird.

Yall ass always find some way to be in black people SHITTTTT. You botched body ass bitches (yk who u are) can’t ever leave our fucking community alone for a second I swear. How tf we go from appreciating the message the movie holds for black history to obsessing over remmicks basic ass?? Not only that , you guys with y’all weird ass fetish y’all have for gay men started shipping male characters when that’s not even the point of movie like at all? And y’all might think “ damn she’s overreacting” . But I’m not though, I’m genuinely tired of the bullshit. You guys would never know how it feels to finally get something that depicts your culture in such a beautiful but heart wrenching way only for ppl outside of your culture to turn it into some yaoi and completely forgetting the black main characters. This is why I’m genuinely starting to believe in gatekeeping our culture cuz when it does get shared stuff like this happens. Obsessing over klan members in the moves then creating fics where the reader is the daughter of a plantation owner is insane. You guys don’t realize how irritating it is until y’all start getting hate then now of a sudden your using the excuse of being interesting in black culture and being a victim. #FUCKYALL

Imma only be reading Sinner fanfics from black people, cos I just saw a remmick fanfic where it's an x reader, but the reader is the daughter of a plantation owner. WTF. This is the straw that broke the camel's back. Between ignoring the black characters of sinners, centring the white ones, unironically making stereotypes of the black characters and misunderstanding the movie entirely, I've just seen so much trifling behaviour from non black sinners fans. This goes without saying, this is obviously not all white white people or non black people.

Why is Sammy x Remmick popular? I don’t get it - it’s a very exploitive dynamic where Remmick killed almost everyone Sammy knew and wanted to steal his music/culture. I get that Remmick wanted to feel his culture, but he’s perpetuating the same harm as colonizers did onto him and he’s taking advantage of his proximity to whiteness. I’m not one to stop people from shipping because I believed people should be allowed to ship, but I have the right to question and judge. I feel like there’s a level of racism present in this ship. Pearline is literally right there for Sammy as a ship, and Remmick is probably super duper old.

the way that she's looking at us (the audience) but he's looking at her. the act of love and care of her grooming him, blade in hand and fierce (sidebar: this is a man that knows he's completely pppsafe and in good hands. no fear or hesitation, just compete devotion and trust), meanwhile he's adoring her, gun in hand and protective. i could watch a million more films of just Smoke and Annie. somebody called him a submissive alpha and yes. the way that this man only got weak in the knees for her and her only was everything. submitted to her only, was everything. the way that she held him close to her heart even through time and distance (i mean, any lover who prays for and prays over you, is something special) was magical. as someone who had a praying grandmother, i always found that fascinating and beautiful. the idea of one loving someone else so deeply that you commune with a higher power in the hopes of keeping them safe and guided and sheltered and protected. Annie did all that for Smoke. And he'd do anything for her, you can see it in his eyes whenever he looks at her. Wunmi, Michael, and Ryan ateee this dynamic up. they deserve all the praise and flowers.
