silly laughter like chiming bells in a symphony

sobs like a car wheezing to a stop

like us, or me

You, no offense,

cannot take this seriously because

that the kid you babysit threw against against a wall

then hid from you, no evidence that it is gone

However, I cannot single you out,

because my heart,

the hardening crystal it is,

is like a brick building

whose inside was burnt by a fire

with a deceiving exterior

where no fault could be found

Or, like a corpse,

a beautiful corpse whose eyes

look rested, like in a slumber,

ike they will soon open and smile up at you,

Insincerity oozes from denim blue eyes.

Curled lips hide devilish lies

Porcelain skin behind fluttering eyelashes

smouldering crystalline eyes, placid in

lush pandemonium; a harbinger for

hallowed emotions, a mirage.

We sit in the garden of Eden from

Genesis, watching the shadow

of purity dance in the luminescence

of fire; hell and heaven’s waltz.

A bird’s song, a cacophony

of squawks from the flock.

The birds flee, a maelstrom

of feathers, atrophying my feeble heart.

Despite this crucible of faith, my eyes shift

the backdrop behind

rough feathers soaring

above a newly formed canyon

  Gray mud happily cakes

colorful torn cloth,

the only suggestion of

human life left.

  Swooping down slowly to

perch perfectly upon

shards of old urbanized homes,

picking food from the rubble.

  Voices and cries echo in

the forest, muffled in the

mud. Laughter used to

be here; the stillness

  is enough to make its

feathers wrinkle and strane

to lift it from broken
