We requested a surprise Mocktail and absolutely loved this. It was passion fruit, orange, ginger and lime and check the size of it! Because we can’t resist, the dessert; • Naughty Manchester Tart [£7] - Jam, Custard & Bananas. Chomping down @kala_bistro_manchester ⠀ ⠀ Off we went to try out Kala, especially as they were taking part in the ‘Eat out to Help out’ scheme. Kala Bistro is based on King Street in Manchester and has such a good ambience with mood lighting, lovely attentive staff and most importantly good food!⠀ ⠀ We tried out the before 7pm 3-course menu (£23) and the Ala Carte 3-course menu (£39)⠀ For starters, it was;⠀ • Roasted Beetroot Salad - One of those items that sounds a bit random as separate bits but take a bite with a little of everything and voila...yumminess⠀ • Baked Crottin - The mellowness of the goats cheese complemented by the roasted purple carrots ⠀ ⠀ Then on to mains of;⠀ • Miso Glazed Squash - With the truly king-sized mushrooms and crispy seaweed providing the crunch, you’ve found yourself a good Vegetarian dish⠀ • Pan-fried Sea Bream - With a plate full of grapes giving the flaky fish a sweet kick⠀ ⠀ And our sweet endings of;⠀ • Choux Bun - This was yummmm and is big enough to share. The espresso ice cream and caramel sauce giving it the true richness of the dish⠀ • Honeycomb Ice Cream - Crunchy honeycomb bits in an indulgent ice cream with dark chocolate sauce. Let’s all drink with @drmiaomcr ⠀ ⠀ New drinks place (juices & smoothies) in town called Dr Maio, we tried a few ‘oh drinks’ the O is for the oriental flavours and the sound you make when you realise it’s all healthy stuff. They also sell some really cute cakes but these contain gelatine. They have a limited menu at the moment so keep a eye on their socials⠀ ⠀ A couple of the drinks we tried;⠀ • Avocado & Strawberry - A filling smoothie we wasn’t sure about the combination but it worked really well⠀ • Mango & Coconut - Tasted quite like a creamier Indian Mango Lassi but not as strong ⠀ • Northern Lights - Sweet & refreshing⠀ ⠀ They also sells snacks; chips, mozzarella sticks, salt pepper squid, chicken nuggets⠀ ⠀ Recommended for: Fresh Drinks, Healthy⠀ One Thing: Funky Flavours⠀ Price: £⠀ Halal: Drinks and ice cream

Brunchin’ at @Cafenorthmcr⠀ ⠀ We’ve been walking past Cafe North for such a long time and have just never made our way in. This time however, we can walked in for some brunch and used the ‘Eat out to Help out’ scheme because why not⠀ ⠀ What we had;⠀ • Poached Egg Florentine (v) [£7] - Simple, classic and just the right amount ⠀ • Pancakes, Banana & Nutella (v) [£8.50] - Once again a classic, simple item that was really fluffy. Step up your meal game at @20storiesmcr ⠀ ⠀ Head in to 20 stories, get your temperature checked, use the automatic hand sanitiser and make your way up. They’re partaking in the ‘help out to eat out’ scheme where you can get a 3-course set menu for £20⠀ ⠀ We love coming to 20 stories for the views and we don’t mind that all we see are cranes because that is Manchester at its finest after all⠀ ⠀ Our meal began with items that are perfect for starters and likely too heavy or intense as mains;⠀ • Grilled mackerel, pickled beetroot, goat’s cheese, orange & watercress salad (£9.50) - Such a good combination of flavours with a mixture of intense mackerel, sweet orange and pickled beetroot - flavour explosion in your mouth⠀ • Salt & pepper squid with coriander & lime mayo (£11.50) - Lightly fried, big pieces of squid that are squidgy, spongey and chewy at the same time. It’s topped with onions and chilli with lime mayo to give that extra tang⠀ ⠀ Then onto the mains of;⠀ • Halibut, Jersey Royals, caper beurre noisette (£26.50) - Lightly seared, flaky white fish on a bed of spinach and packed with capers. Tucked away off the hustle and bustle of Arndale, find yourself at a family-run business in the form of Thai Kitchen. It’s a good place for a chilled out, relaxing meal⠀ ⠀ Starting with Starters ⠀ • Crispy Spring Rolls [£4.95] - Warm, fresh and comes with a different sauce than expected. It was a Thai sweet chilli sauce but without the chilli. You may even say it was honey but of course we scoffed then all before thinking too deeply about it ⠀ • Homemade Fish Cakes [£4.95] - Fried fish cakes filled with spring onions that comes with sweet chilli sauce. You can definitely tell they’re made in-house because they’re all different sizes⠀ ⠀ Munching the Mains⠀ • Moo Kara Tiem, Chicken Stir-Fry Garlic [£10.95] - Simple with garlic and black pepper. If you don’t like saucy or curry like dishes, you’ve found the one for you⠀ • Chicken Massaman [£10.95] - Subtle creamy red curry and could have done with a little more chilli for perfection⠀ • Steamed rice [£2.95] - For when you want that lighter carb⠀ • Egg fried rice [£3.95] - For when you want a little more carb⠀ ⠀ Drinking the Drinks⠀ • Fresh orange juice [£2.25] - Had the right amount of bitterness to the oranges⠀ ⠀ Recommended for: Thai, Relaxing⠀ One Thing: Variety ⠀ Price: ££⠀ Halal: Chicken

Chit-chat with your friends at @chit_n_chaat ⠀ When you want a snack or something light and you’re on the Curry Mile, head on to Chit ‘n Chaat for some Indian street food⠀ ⠀ Recently opened and made by true Gujaratis, they provide side plates and recommend 3-4 dishes per person (depending on hunger levels). We found the dishes to have the kind of spice levels that let you taste everything so it isn’t too overpowering and then leaves you with the satisfying nose running levels afterwards (not how many would choose to describe food but it’s the only way to describe it for those who love some spice)⠀ ⠀ Social distancing and safety guidelines in place with staff wearing masks and the use of wooden cutlery means you don’t have to worry about re-use⠀ ⠀ From the veg menu, we had;⠀ • 9 Kutchi Dabeli (£3.95) - A good twist on the paani puri/ dahi puri with mash in a bun and crammed with pomegranates...this gives it a sweet hit to an otherwise subtle dish⠀ • 12 Okra Fries (£3.50) - Thinly sliced, spiced and fried...crunchy goodness⠀ ⠀ Then onto the Non-veg menu;⠀ • 17 Kothu roti- chicken (£5.95) - An explosion of flavours. It felt more like noodles but it actually is finely shredded roti mixed with chicken and topped with a garnish of onions, tomato and coriander...it’s one of those dishes that is the right amount for when you’re not wanting a meal but wanting something more substantial than a snack⠀ ⠀ Then onto the South Indian Dishes;⠀ • 26 Masala Dosa (£4.95) - This looks impressive when you get it cos it’s a big Dosa, and it comes stuffed with potato, some curry and a green, coconut chutney⠀ • 24 Lamb Chops (£8.95) - 5 proper pieces and not the skinny, small portions you can get in some places...simple, juicy and charcoaled⠀ ⠀ We couldn’t miss out a Chaat option at Chit ‘n Chaat!⠀ • 34 Dahi Puri (£3.95) - A classic sharing item with 6 puris⠀ ⠀ Then a little bit of Indo-Chinese;⠀ • 38 Gobi Manchurian (£4.95) - Spicy, saucy cauliflower...we love this and the sauce is perfect for dipping anything and everything in it⠀ ⠀ Now, for a sweet Masala Tea (£1.95), which was 👌🏽⠀ ⠀ Recommended for: Small Plates, Indian, Street Food⠀ One Thing: Flavours⠀ Price: £⠀ Halal: Full menu
