“I mean,” Amaya chuckles, looking Zari over once before a smile teeters. No, Zari did not look like someone who would be skilled in one-on-one combat. But then again, Amaya didn’t think she did either. And usually, she had to admit, that would work in her favour. “I’m not saying you have to look skilled, or have arms like Sara,” she waves, “all I’m saying is, if you want to learn how to control your powers and wield your totem correctly, a little one-on-one combat wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world.” She shrugs then, “and who better to learn that power than from someone who’s been training with it for years? Besides it’s quiet, nows as good a time as any to try it.”

She pauses then, eying their new teammate for a moment before licking her lips. She needed Zari to be okay with this. To want to train. To fight. To get stronger. It was her destiny. And Amaya’s to get her there. The real question was how. Clearing her throat, Vixen stands taller, eyes bright with amusement. “I mean… Unless you’re scared.”

“Ouch,” Zari feigns anguish almost immediately. “Hear that? That’s the sound of my spirit being crushed beneath your vicious, hurtful words.” She clutches briefly at her chest for dramatic effect before her hand falls, and she’s left smirking at Amaya. “We can’t all be built like a Greek goddess,” she concludes, remembering Sara’s muscles very well.  They’re hard to ignore and even more impressive. It hadn’t taken Zari long to realize how Sara had gotten to the position she’s in.

“Scared? Me? Seriously?” she lets out a dry laugh, eyes narrowing momentarily as she gauges Amaya’s body language. “Let's drop you off in 2042 for a day, and we’ll see how it works out for you,” her stance changes slightly, matching Amaya’s. She can’t back down from a challenge. “Friendly reminder that you can literally kick my ass in two seconds flat, so maybe consider channeling a cute little kitten for this, all right?”

         “isn’t it?” she’s laughing a little as she says this, because if there’s one thing zari’s perfected, it’s humor in a time of stress or hardship.  if she can’t laugh about it, then she’ll be forced to face the reality of the situation and the negative emotions that come with it---neither of which she’s in the business of wanting to do.
