Further Notes on Garlean Titles
Since the two hierarchy posts are filled with unfamiliar Latin words, I thought I would clarify what each position is (based on what it is in Roman hierarchy).

TOL - TRIBUNUS LATICLAVIUS/TRIBUNUS MILITUM: “Military tribune of senatorial rank. Second in command of a legion.”
SAS - TRIBUNUS ANGUSTILAVIUS/PRAEFECTUS CASTORUM: “Camp prefect, third-in-command of the legion, also responsible for maintaining the camp, equipment and supplies. Usually a former primus pilus.”
REM - PRIMUS PILUS/PILUS PRIOR: Primus Pilus is “The commanding centurion of the first cohort and the senior centurion of the entire Legion.”; Pilus prior is “The commander of the first century of each cohort.”
QUO - PRIMI ORDINES/CENTURION: “Officer rank, generally one per 100 soldiers, in charge of century.”; Primi Ordines are “Centurions in the First Cohort.”
PYR - OPTIO/TESSERARIUS/DECURION: Optio and Tesserarius are “Principales - a group of ranks, including aquilifer, signifer, optio and tesserarius. Similar to modern NCOs.” Decurion “leads a troop of cavalry (14-30 men).”
OEN - DUPLICARIUS/LEGIONARIUS: Likely the footsoldiers.
IYL - DICTATOR/PRINCEPS SENATUS: A princeps senatus is “the first member by precedence of the Roman Senate.” A dictator in this context is “an ‘extraordinary magistrate’ with the absolute authority to perform tasks beyond the authority of the ordinary magistrate.”
HET - CONSUL/PRAETOR/TRIBUNUS PLEBIS/AEDILIS/QUAESTOR: A consul is “the highest elected political office of the Roman Republic”. A praetor is “a title granted by the government of Ancient Rome to men acting in one of two official capacities: the commander of an army (in the field or, less often, before the army had been mustered); or, an elected magistratus (magistrate), assigned various duties.” A tribunus plebis is “the first office of the Roman state that was open to the plebeians”. An aedilis is “an office of the Roman Republic…responsible for maintenance of public buildings (aedēs) and regulation of public festivals. They also had powers to enforce public order”. A quaestor is “a type of public official in the ”cursus honorum“ system who supervised the financial affairs of the state and conducted audits”.
GOE - CENSOR: “An officer in ancient Rome who was responsible for maintaining the census, supervising public morality, and overseeing certain aspects of the government’s finances.”
DUS - LICTOR: “A Roman civil servant tasked with attending and guarding the magistrates of the Roman Republic and Empire who held imperium, the right and power to command; essentially a lictor performed the role of a bodyguard.”
We don’t know what fae or eir is, but ‘fae’ is ‘a Scot word for from’, or the ‘fae folk’ and ‘eir’ is Old Norse for ‘mercy’, so that could hint as to the title’s meaning.
