Moon Phoenix
Designed July 2021–November 2022 (shaping refined 2025) Folded June–July 2025
This phoenix carries three moons in its tail feathers. I designed it a few years ago but never got a good fold of it until now. Color changes are structural.

New fold of origami Char Aznable. 104 cm uncut square of white/red double tissue. (I think it was 104 cm according to my notes. Either way, it was a decently large paper.) Some shaping done with wire and stuffing. Finished model is 12 inches tall.
Although I botched the shaping in some parts I think it’s still my best fold of him, at least! I don’t usually shape origami with wire or cotton so that was new to me. This time around, I made sure to have the cape go over the shoulders.
Working on test folds to revise the face. The goal is for the next iteration to have a color changed laughing mouth (and less wrinkly folded forms). We’ll see if that ever happens…

Blue jeans cut down, beaten back into cotton fiber, soaked and processed and whatnot, then stuffed into the shape of paper and given new life. Watermarked--surprisingly well--with duct tape. As I call it: Japer.

Origami snow spirit❄️🔷

ORIKATANA🦢⛩️💮 (Grus Chartabellum) "A majestic omnivorous avian from the eastern lands. The Orikatana is as beautiful as it is deadly, equipped with a head structure like that of a kabuto helmet and a firm frontal horn strikingly similar to a katana which they use to attack in swings.
Adults grow stunning wings and a tail as thin as paper, almost resembling a wedding dress or a fan, while the chicks have been often compared to paper fortune tellers given their peculiar (cute) shape. This species has absolutely mastered the art of gliding and makes for a beautiful sight when spotting a flock.
These feisty birds are very similar to cranes both in appearance and behavior. They mate for life and have long become a symbol of loyalty, luck and good marriage."

Origami Char Aznable, designed and folded by me. One uncut square of 90-something cm double tissue paper (one face of the paper red and the other white).

Origami horse! Folded by me from one sheet of double tissue. The colour change comes from the two different sides of the paper. It was designed by Ziliang.
Time for the long origami showcase. Origami Quattro Bajeena, designed and folded by me. One uncut square of paper, red on one face and golden on the other. (Plus bonus Kamille from earlier, I'll link that fold too once I edit this post.)
While I think this fold still has flaws, I'm happy with the color change effects and details I was able to fit into the model, like the closed back and collar that wraps around.

Playing around with 18 degree design! This is meant to be Night Phlox, but I’m sure there’s a more similar flower out there.
Making an accurate pentagon from a square was a fun challenge.
