It's been a while. Here's some of the photos I took of my table at this year's OrigamiUSA Convention! First time exhibiting. Was really nervous to do this and put myself out there, but it ended up going well.

I was so scared leading up to this #but yeah #I didn't anticipate such positivity from people #ranging from the general non-folder public (it was free and open to people not attending convention) to even established cool origami peopl #which I'm still wrapping my head around

So I know I don't always reply/say thank you to things and don't always know what's the right protocol for this sort of thing online!! Hope this isn't weird. Usually fairly quiet on this website except when talking about origami in the tags!!

Wanted to say thank you to the person who left really positive comments in the tags, and, well, everyone who's been excited to see my origami on this site over the time I've been here. Seriously, it means a lot. So...thanks.

#genuinely moved whenever someone is excited about the origami #or even if someone is like “holy shit! I didn't know you could do that with origami” type of reaction because #that means it was something new to them and it's really cool to be able to do that #still get nervous about these kinds of things but it's gotten better #I feel less like “every time I post I fear I will die” levels of anxiety

It was one I'd admired the shape of for some time, and had been on my imaginary origami to fold list in my head for a while, haha.

Finished folding origami Quattro Bajeena (Zeta Char Aznable). Uncut square; like 90 something cm. Red on one face and cream on the other for color changes.

The design could have better proportions on some parts which I'm planning to rework again in the future. But I'm happy with this one right now! Bonus two process photos.

Anyway. He is a Char. Fascinating character to look at under a microscope to me.

WIP origami time again. Connected some parts together.

Debating how to pose Quattro.

I like how this fold is coming along.#also my computer is in bad shape so if I disappear from tumblr or r/origami or the new instagram account that's why #char aznable you will be folded.

WIP origami Quattro Bajeena/Zeta Char Aznable. Trying this again. Several parts to connect during shaping for the closed detail effects later.

I hope it goes according to how I envisioned it when planning.

#at the very least char aznable has made me more proficient in color change origami #this piece of paper is still a stick figure. Debating how to pose this one.#featuring: unnecessary color change mouth!! He came to laugh at you...#(if I fail at shaping this model I WILL cry)#the clothes in the front seem a little short to me but it is what it is for now #guess I just love a boxpleated color change anime style figure!

New fold of origami Char Aznable. 104 cm uncut square of white/red double tissue for the color changes. (I think it was 104 cm according to my notes. Either way, it was a decently large paper.) Some shaping done with wire and stuffing. Finished model is 12 inches tall.

Although I botched the shaping in some parts I think it’s still my best fold of him, at least! I don’t usually shape origami with wire or cotton so that was new to me. This time around, I made sure to have the cape go over the shoulders.

Working on test folds to revise the face. The goal is for the next iteration to have a color changed laughing mouth (and less wrinkly folded forms). We’ll see if that ever happens…

Not fully satisfied with the color in the photos. Maybe overthinking it trying for a new round of images? The wire also still feels makeshift to me.

And I Hate facebook.#and one time I tried making an instagram account (which I wasn't excited about)#and it blocked me from accessing the account the moment it was created. So I could never even access said account??#tried going through the process to appeal the weird automatically made decision #and it wouldn't even give me the codes or whatever it was I needed #so I just gave up #well anyway. at least some of the online social anxiety has gotten better.

Tiny dragon from a diagonal 16 grid! Another sort of fairy dragon? Based on a suggestion it has been named the "Inchwyrm Dragon".

Today I folded an origami chair.

Upholstered Chair designed by Kiyotaka but folded quickly and differently by me. Featuring background dragons in progress.

Finished shaping the origami Char Aznable. Problem: I do not know how to display and take photos of this fold to showcase him yet. So yeah I checked my photos/notes from last month and the square of paper was apparently 104 cm before folding if I'm not mistaken on this one.

Origami artists LOVE the idea of a big piece of paper, until it's time to start preparing the paper, and then precreasing and collapsing the model. And lastly, finding a way to display and photograph the model. This origami is literally 12 inches tall and I do not currently have an appropriate display stand. Will try to update if I can get photos. Makeshift wire display method maybe?

WIP origami time. Hoping this one will work out alright also. Want to get that cape shaped so it's sorta...draped over the shoulders. That detail was missing in previous folds of Char, so yeah. Folding him.

#wip #the origami char aznable saga continues.#this one's from 126 cm paper last I checked! I love a big square of paper. Excessively big paper. But does help to shape a little.#(actually not sure I shared this particular fold before?)#Love big paper even though it takes extra time to prepare the sheets in the background #and is also harder to handle. Really had to stretch my arms folding this earlier on in the process lol #and there's the fact that painting one side for color separation is kinda annoying when it's a really big piece that you're making #Not sure I know how to improve face shaping too much at this stage but hey! The next version to test has a face that's more specific #compared to this one where the face is not very structured at all. Blank face flap.
