I’m coming back to this blog for a moment to express how fucking heartbroken I am. Johnny Hockey was special. His skill, speed, creativity, dangles, and love for hockey might not be seen again on this team. His personality was one of a kind. When he got his first 80k cheque from the NHL, he kept it in his pocket and took it to a bar. He later tried to cash it at an ATM. He once got constipated because he ate too much Nutella for weeks. He was so loved by his teammates and he loved them too. Johnny put his family first. His parents were so involved in the Calgary community. Johnny loved his young children, who are both under the age of two. He was inspired by his wife, a paediatric nurse. His sister was supposed to get married today. I’m thinking about them and how fucking awful this is. A family lost two brothers and sons. My heart goes out to them and I am sending them so much love. Rest in peace Johnny Gaudreau.
