Could you talk more about the main characters in general? You've already talked about your OC Fleur, but what about the canon main characters?
Otaaay ! (sorry this took so long to answer </3) Personality-wise, the Loonatics are pretty similar, with a… ‘few’ differences (AKA me putting as much angst into them as possible without it being too overly edgy teehee.)Â
Ace is still the wise-cracking, witty, & playful leader, but now with a layer of arrogance rather than humility, although it’s more subtle than Duck’s, but still definitely there if you look close enough. He has a martyr-hero complex, which can affect the way he interacts with his teammates & civilians. He is a pretty cool guy on the surface, but he’ll be damned if there’s anyone upstaging him in what he considers to be his best skill. He holds onto his leader position like a lifeline because if he’s not in a position of power, he feels like there’s no use for him at all.Â
Despite his internal flaws, he still behaves as the admirable, unshakeable leader on the surface, & he does genuinely have good intentions, but dear goddess he needs a therapist. He is also very protective of his teammates & will 100% crash out if they get genuinely hurt.Â
Backstory wise, a lot of his behavior & internal issues stem from his parental background. Living with one mom & an absent dad & none of his siblings does no good for a heavily social animal like a bunny xP. Ever since he was a kid, he’s been so determined to help his mom after she sacrificed so much for him that that one goal swam around his mind until it was the only thing he focused on in his life. He’d endure so much crap, like being a stunt double for four years to a very not-nice *human director who just kinda, let him get kicked around like a ragdoll a bunch of times.Â
Anyway, moving on from thaaat, he is definitely the most sociable than the rest of the Loonatics, excluding Rev, even when they first started out as a team. When Zadavia brought them all together, he was the glue that kept them all together, which is what made him leader in the first place.Â
Tech is also very similar to his canon counterpart, though more reclusive & slightly more hostile & impatient around others. This is because of the stigma around canine characters in-universe. Everyone’s been walking on eggshells around him all his life, despite him never showing to deserve it. He’d usually be treated with hostility or hesitance just for being a canine, & those who didn’t show fear towards him would usually belittle, ridicule or underestimate him, thanks to his ancestor being Wile E. Coyote, famous foul-up of the 1950’s.Â
I don’t have anything to say about his parental background because, uh, I didn’t create any parents for him because I would just be too inspired by Kendra & Craft E cuz they’re peak, heeeh. ;3;
But anyso, Tech has always taken comfort in his inventions, his babies as he canonically calls them, because, well, a machine doesn’t treat you badly unless you program it to do so. Real people are unpredictable, too stubborn to change their views, & for the most part, doomed to disappoint. This mindset led to him secluding himself from his peers, & focusing his time mainly on machines. In turn, leaving him to be more & more scrutinized by the community he’s surrounded by.Â
Unlike Ace, he’s far more humble about his skills, especially since his one chance to prove that he could be brilliant in the inventive field to skeptics… ended in disaster. When the team first started out, he was so immediate to dipping. He hated group work (he’s just like me fr) especially when â…˜ of those he’d be working with seemed… annoying. Especially Danger. (he actually does still dislike Danger in present-time lol.) He started out being the most disliked, with his impatience, hostility, & general unpleasant nature to the others, but over time, he started to warm up to them (& vice versa), be more social, & grow more & more confident in his inventions.Â
His motivation for sticking with the team is far less for-others, & rather, for himself. He wants the world to see that a canine– a coyote, in fact, can be more than just an antagonistic screw-up. He wants to actually make connections after being so lonely for so long, & he wants to actually use his inventions as more than just convenience tools or companions, to truly bestow his creative prowess.Â
Audi (Lexi) has been changed a little more significantly.Â
Small rantangent incoming, but even though I do like Audi in canon, that’s mainly because of something that also bothers me. She’s basically just Girl Ace. The only thing that really separates her from being like him exactly is the fact that she has ‘girly’ interests, (cheerleading, cute things like the Fuz-Zs, & fashion) with the only exception being video games, which is very real of her, (*& I have to add that I like that her video game trait feels somewhat parallel to Ace’s sweet tooth, which would usually be something seen as more feminine, as opposed to video games being seen as more masculine. Completely unrelated but it’s just really cute to me.) & the fact that she has seasickness, which was only prevalent in like, one episode.Â
This made it pretty hard for me to write her, angst wise, parental-wise, backstory-wise & just general-personality wise, to be honest, because her being a lady duplicate of Ace actually makes her pretty bland on her own, & she deserves way better than that.Â
So, anyway, Audi is ambitious & outgoing, but a little bit too smug & assertive. She gets into dangerous situations for the fun of it, even when told not to. She’s like those cave-divers with a loving family who tragically suffocate to death because they decide to venture into a cavern nicknamed ‘Devil’s Soul Sucker,’ & the only reason she isn’t on a tombstone is through sheer willpower.Â
Though, the reason why she’s borderline suicidal adventurous is because she’s desperately in search of her own identity. She’s the only female member of a team (or rather, the only female member who *wants* to be in the team if you count Fleur, or Sunny & Feisty to a lesser extent.) & the oldest of 13 siblings who all have their eyes set on one dream.Â
Audi never knew what she wanted to do with her life, or how she was really… ‘meant’ to be, so she overcompensated by training for anything she could, which did not help her, because nothing ever feels right for her.Â
No matter what, she just feels out of place. What’s worse for her, is that she feels her life is so privileged compared to others, that her struggles don’t matter. Her parents are kind & supportive, with enough notoriety to be well-off so they don’t have financial struggles, & they don’t make her a second parent to her siblings, so how could she feel like she’s in any sort of crisis? So she pushes her internal struggles back, back, waaay back into her mind, to try & keep a positive attitude, &... ‘settle.’ Which she tried to do with cheerleading, to no avail.Â
Being a superhero is the closest thing she can get to a role that feels right for her, & even then, she doesn’t feel completely right. But at least she has her friends to *not* vent her frustrations towards, because she’s far too used to suppressing her negative thoughts to actually be vulnerable. At least she can physically vent by committing violence & indulging in the Body’s Drug, adrenaline, to keep herself high. <3
Rev, as usual, is the hyperactive chatterbox-speed demon of the team, filled with endless energy, curiosity, & a desire for adrenaline-fueled adventures with his friends. He’s less of a Technological Brains like Tech, & more of the Analytical Brains. He tends to take notice of certain patterns in situations faster than the others, & he’s always the first to point them out. He can be a bit of a contrarian, preferring to take shortcuts & do what he believes is right. Morally, he focuses way more on helping people than stopping villains, even if it puts the team at risk.Â
Although this can be… annoying to the team, he’s also their main moral compass, the Spirit of the team. Since everyone is lowkey dealing with their own internal issues, he reminds them that they’re doing this to help people, to contribute greatness into the world, & not just beating villains up for the sake of beating something up.Â
Although he isn’t as Technologically focused as Tech, he still has an inventive side to him, which is more about thinking outside of the box & being creative than just ‘create something to make the situation more convenient for the heroes.’ Unfortunately, he has a sliiight problem when it comes to boundaries & touches Tech’s stuff without permission to… enhance his inventions, but since Tech’s inventions are so complex, far surpassing Rev’s level, his meddling does not end well. (Tech & Rev are more frenemies than besties here because of that.)Â
Ever since he was younger, he’s always admired his mother, since her profession is ‘doing cool things & helping others at the same time,’ in his words, which led to him aspiring to become like her. He always wanted to be part of something bigger than himself, although his annoying d a d keeps hindering that by putting too much pressure to be like him, while also treating his brother like a nuisance.Â
So thanks to that jerk, Rev also gained a fear of disappointing people, because if he doesn’t turn out to be someone great, his dad will have worked for nothing, & his brother would have suffered for nothing, & his mother (as he thinks) would be disappointed that he wouldn’t contribute to improving the world.Â
Oh, Slam. Oh dear Slam. You bring me more anger than words can describe because you have no personality other than being GOURMAND.Â
Anyso, Slam was really being screwed over by fate. His strength & lineage is a big insecurity for him, because, like Tech, he’s often disliked, disdained, & judged, despite actually actually a pretty chill guy, all things considered, who tries to be as gentle as possible when it comes to others because he is unintentionally way stronger than he wants to be. But because he isn’t trusted in most professions off the bat, he had to take advantage of his stature & work as a wrestler, which he really does not care for. All this, only for his meteor-given super powers to be tied to his physical stature. It’s so mean that it’s funny to me, I’m sorry </3.
Slam is like that big brother you’d cling onto if you were being bullied. He’s protective, usually quiet, & caring towards his loved ones. He does suffer from a short temper thanks to being treated like a feral monster, & sometimes, he doesn’t know his own strength, & has a constant fear of accidentally causing more harm than good. But he harnesses his anger & nearly-uncontrolled strength into something more subdued, to not give the impression of somebody dangerous or hostile.Â
But of course, he’s instantly judged, even before people get to know him, thanks to his appearance & his ancestors. He tries not to let this get to him, but it is hard to just accept that some people will always hate you for things you can’t control.Â
Other than that, Slam is actually the wisest of the team, being the oldest of the team. Even if his verbal communication skills aren’t the best, he uses other ways to aid his friends emotionally,
To be honest, I think I might make him actually speak somewhat normally, but his voice is just so gruff it makes him harder to articulate.Â
Slam’s parents aren’t in the picture. Whether they’re dead, missing, neglectful, it ultimately doesn’t matter, because he’s always been taken care of by his great auntie & his distant cousins, with his two younger twin sisters. Since his grauntie & cousins are practically the opposite from his ancestor, he’s been generally surrounded by sophistication, which makes people’s prejudiced views on him hurt him further. Luckily, being on the Loonatics team provides himt with a chance to prove that he’s not a beast, but a beauty at heart.
To be honest, I think Danger is already fine on his own. I don’t really have anything to add onto him because in my opinion, he is objectively the best character. He has more depth than the leader of the team, for grace’s sake ! Â
Like, I guess I could mention that he’s heavily insecure despite his massive ‘ego,’ since he was raised by humans & feels no real connection to his ancestor, & he actually feels embarrassed by his lineage because even 700 years ago, the duck was upstaged by the bunny, & the way his team undermines him (despite his great power) & is genuinely surprised when he shows competence for once, hurts him more than he admits, because vulnerability is for cowards, but aside from that, Danger is perfect the way he is & deserves his popularity :3
