In my heart, Adam in the new universe is a fiction author. He still has that charm & that boundless imagination & penchant for rich storytelling, even without the Hell of it all. His novels would be 600 pages of straight up wild bullshit and they'd be so captivating.
Idk, I just think so often about book!Adam writing a shitty eight page book as a little kid & about the fact he couldn't read comics because they didn't match up to his own imagination.
yeah he is a creator at heart i agree
I actually really liked the Good Omens finale. It's the ending I would have wanted, and I totally get that it's not for everyone, but I'm not looking to argue about that.
I do take issue with one thing, though, and it's that I feel like we got so little time to explore the new universe whatsoever. I know, logically, that Newt and Anathema / Gabriel and Beelzebub / Maggie and Nina will have found each other, but I wish we'd gotten to see it. As it stands, we've just... never seen the new versions of them. The versions of them we've met are in a universe billions of years gone, and I wish we knew where they were in the end!
Even for the non-Crowley and Aziraphale characters we did get to see, we barely know what's going on outside who they're kicking it with. How did Muriel and Eric meet? How did Josh and Adam meet? Are The Them around? I wouldn't change the ending, but I would have loved an episode just exploring and feeling out the new universe.
i am a bit more negative on the ending than you but i still agree! it would have given the ending more meaning to watch people organically meet under no supernatural pressure or predetermination
In my heart the longer version of s3 would've seen Jesus/Josh escape Heaven in search of the Antichrist who disavowed his destiny; so that he can learn how to do the same.
Crowley finds out Jesus is missing from Aziraphale and has the wonderful idea of knocking on Adam's door because heyyyy, old buddy, you're The Adversary, Prince of This World and Lord of Darkness, if I can use anyone as a Jesus-sniffing dog it's his Biblical nemesis meant to bring about the End Times!
But Adam is just like "no I haven't sensed anything, everything feels So Normal, and completely unrelated this is my boyfriend Josh." And because I think it was hilarious in canon that Crowley didn't recognise him. He still doesn't in this version. Just "fair enough have a good normal day bye"
this is so perfect
A little addition to the Jehoshua’s card game alternate ending

saw a post that said go2's angel!crowley meeting was weird cause eden wing umbrella carried a lot of meaning for azi to shelter a demon he didnt know
i just. ugh. now i want to rewatch go2 and sift through what i wanna keep and discard, much like i did for go3. cause if go2 plot was always leading to go3.... its a bit of a bleak sentiment. i think the second coming is a neat idea though. and the ball, the job storyline, 1941 second minisode...
i think i would have liked a single season of good omens with 12 episodes. same plot, body swap at end, but a lot more journey through historical side plots. in the first eight episodes you can fit in the book plot, whickber street+the residents, and all the go2 history minisodes. and then last four episodes are dedicated to azi and crowley's relationship arc, gabriel and beelzebub relationship (more side plot in this version rather than the driving plotline like in go2) and a retirement in south downs. no azi being called to heaven. they manage to get heaven and hell to leave them alone et cetera for certain through some shenenigans relating to gabriel. they have the ball for some contrived reason. they get together. they dont even have to kiss, if the interpretation is a qpr. they gotta say at least SOME version of "i love you" even if not the exact words. they clink glasses in their cottage and say to the world. bam ive moved around a lil bit of the book ending but its a great plot if i do say so myself
anti go3 posting...
ok so the plot makes zero sense. idk was the show ever really about free will NOT being a thing because of god? i thought they already had free will? also if aziracrow are making the universe just disappear, thats. literally not considering the free will of anybody. the world was never meant to be seen as god's little designs. i thought god was pretty removed from the situation.
there is a god, and a world. the god is flawed. the god's counterpart, or the idea of the counterpart, does not actually exist (anymore). there is only one mouth from which the story can be told (now).
then there are the beings that don't quite belong in the world, but nevertheless love it, and love each other. one day they ask for there to be no god. for there to have been no god at all, in the first place, because people deserve to choose for themselves and not be forced to act under someone else's powers.
the god says, yes, okay, i'll remove myself. but the world you loved must go as well.
and it's still the god who made the new world. it's the illusion of a godless world, where the words stamped on it don't say his name anywhere, but the world had to be made by somebody. and look, there's them, there's loving, they are happy. they chose to do the things they did. nobody controlled them. it was simply fate. it wasn't me. ignore anything that suggests otherwise.
they're stripped of it, the trauma, the memories. if he says that it never happened, it never did. and he would like it, wouldn't he. he'd like it if it never happened. a clean sanitized happy end for everyone. he escapes the blame.
this is about good omens, and this is also about good omens.
These two idiots are the ones who gonna save the world. WE ARE FUCKED!
every time i see a post pre-S3 release, i just get so sad
lowkey sick and tired of people mischaracterizing Gabriel's character, like obviously people are completely free to have their own interpretations of him, im not gonna grab a pitchfork and witch hunt them for it but guys please he's not a sore loser short tempered twink, theres so much more to him beyond that :[
fully thought this was about good omens and was like.

I KNEW. I KNEW I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE THAT THOUGHT ABOUT IT.
im continuing my campaign to make everyone ship this

i haven't really read the new fics or seen much story-based fanart yet, so here are some clueless predictions on good omens fanon/various fan media of different levels of canon divergence that will be established in the fandom from now (disclaimer: i am not agnes nutter so this probably wont be nice and accurate)
there will ofc be the completely canon compliant world. a popular well written longfic will establish human aziraphale and crowley's family of origin dynamic and the fandom would generally accept it as a fandomwide headcanon. ineffable bureaucracy, eric/muriel, etc. will be popular side ships. this world will be generally mined for fluff. a large portion of new fics will be set in this world.
there will be the technically canon compliant worlds that also subvert what the show is telling us. this will vary a lot and will be a vibrant world of creativity and angst. no widely accepted fanon here, besides some tropes like aziracrow suddenly remembering their angel/demon lives, etc. some really wild stories will come out of this, im looking forward to it.
there will be S3 canon deviation that deviate in "the last 15." another au mined for fluff, comedy about the rewritten book of life, etc. there will be kisses probably. another large portion of fics and art will be from this world, as it is relatively easy to establish.
there will be post S2 canon deviation that keep some of the S3 elements (jesus, bentley) but lose the michael book of life plotline and instead focus on the second coming. jesus and adam will either be friends or lovers for this world's fanon. there will be a generally accepted interpretation of god who is less cruel than S3 canon, and this will always end in the south downs. probably the closest interpretation to what the fandom thought would happen pre-S3. as time passes from the finale release, the fics and art of this world will grow steadily and eventually become popular.
there will be S2 canon deviation. this would probably be rarer, and exist mostly to set up the fan's second coming story in the S3 timeline. fanon will be similar to post S2 canon deviation.
finally, there will be people who simply ignore S2 and S3 and live in the post-S1/book era. to be honest, this will probably be the happiest bunch of people. sigh.
was thinking about the ship name for jesus and adam. i suppose jadam works somewhat. theres lots of fun ideas like [anti]christ, christ^2, etc. i guess we could do ineffable something. ineffable christs? i think ineffable humans and ineffable boyfriends are taken already. applesauce? (cause like. adam and the apple. and (je)sus. oh god im so terrible at naming)
i am quite fond of jantichrist, because it's fun to say and very catchy. plus its got all the stuff in it like the j, the antichrist, and christ
im almost tempted to make applesauce a thing now though, who's with me

for some reason i am coping with S3 by drawing my headcanons of the Them and also warlock
this all connects to a happy ending for the good omens universe in my mind, in some way. because humans being humans is important. im quite fond of adam and jesus duo driving the large chunk of the plot as well
i rewatched season 1 and oh its so lovely
i almost want to say that S1 is canon adaptation of the canoniest novel, and S2 and S3 are simply a very high production value fanfic
