Im going to hold your hand when I say this. It is not realistic to expect yourself or your family to be able to survive solely off of food you have foraged or grown in a garden. People with more knowledge and experience have tried and failed. What do you think happened to all of those communes in the 60s? Most of them failed. Famine and malnutrition have been constant companions to humanity until industrialized farming and food supply lines came along.
It feels like a uniquely American capitalist take to assume these traditions will make you completely self sufficient. You need a lot of people, a lot of time, a lot of knowledge across a lot of subjects, and a lot of luck to provide for everyone's nutritional needs.
So should you even bother trying to be more self sufficient with your food? I argue yes. Foraging and gardening are fun and will teach you so much about many things. They are deeply rewarding activities that can supplement your diet. There are herbs I haven't bought in years because I grow my own. There are dishes I can only make with foraged ingredients because I can't get them in stores.
You may not have the power to do everything, but that doesn't mean your efforts are wasted. Getting 5% of your nutritional needs from food you have grown or foraged, even for a season, is a massive accomplishment.
I ate my very first home grown salad yesterday from the baby lettuce I thinned out in my very first garden.
My biggest reason for gardening is to have the produce I want without having to worry about half of it going bad before I get to it. It's so rewarding to make meals out of something I grew, even if most of the ingredients are still store bought.
How many people’s most beloved childhood stuffed animals are actually teddy bears, like I feel like that’s a thing someone made up. Reblog this and put what your longest owned and/or favorite stuffed animal as a child was in the tags, inquiring minds want to know

“You may regret not having kids someday…”
Really? Because I’m 24 years into adulthood now and all that extended time around kids does is reaffirm my choice over and over.
I’m not an asshole to or about kids. I love my sweet niblings with a ferocity that floors me. I’ll stand up for children’s rights in every way.
And yet
I’m so so so so so glad I’m not responsible for any of my own.
[Gross stuff about to be said warning] I just spent 3 hours on a plane w/ one kid by us puking from motion sickness. Another shrieked bloody murder for NOT KIDDING 2 HOURS W/O A BREAK. I watched one the other day lick the side of a public trash can. Another punched his dad in the nuts.
I’m so so so so so glad I don’t have kids. Grateful beyond words my experience with their bodily functions and emotional meltdowns are incidental at best.
That fact makes me feel free and euphoric and at peace.
I know kids are as wonderful as they are gross and a challenge. But I don’t want the gross challenge even a little 😅
I have a 15 year old and 17 year old. They are amazing, wonderful incredible human beings and I'm so glad they're in my life and that I'm in theirs.
That being said, I never actively wanted kids. Didn't actively NOT want kids, but never felt called to it. When I found out I was pregnant 2 weeks before my wedding, I was in panic mode. Wtf do we do?? Their dad said "I guess we're starting a family". I wasn't so sure, but just kind of went along like the decision had been made.
Despite the fact that they're turning out to be pretty awesome humans, my life has been orders of magnitude more difficult because of that non decision. It's been a major negative impact on my financial and mental health. I may be stronger for having come through it, but if I had my life to live again, I would've chosen differently.
It's good to listen to yourself and to know how you feel about it before you're faced with a critical decision.
Love my girls, but I'll ALWAYS support the deliberately child free folks
Cat Magic.
“are u okay?” no i need more money
All other factors aside, I think people on the spectrum should do whatever is in their power (as little as it may be) to avoid developing an interest in guns and firearms purely because it's not safe for them. Not because autism would automatically make someone unsafe to handle them, but because you really may not grasp how often neurotypical non-gun-enthusiast normies will read you going "hey check out this really cool thing I have that I want to show you unprompted for literally no reason" and pulling out a gun as an explicit threat on their life.
I love making posts like this because 50% of the replies will be like "nobody in their right mind with the slightest fragment of common sense would ever do anything like that, you didgust me for even thinking that", and the other half is like "yeah if it were me that would be me. I legit would do that. There but for the grace of god goes I."
I don't think ANYONE- even neurotypical people, should be obsessed with guns tbh. Or any Tool Of Death that's not in a Historical Context. This isn't an Autism issue this is a 'Holy fucking shit that thing can kill someone' issue.

For the record I don't like guns and I don't touch them. I've just developed a tolerance to people who do.
Not so fun story.... Guns and tanks are my youngest kid's hyper fixation. Entirely from a mechanical standpoint, she's fascinated and has encyclopedic knowledge. I've always hated it and tried to find ways to redirect her, but that ship has sailed.
Dumbass made the mistake of looking up pictures for a drawing reference at school. Guess who got expelled.....

Guys… Something kind of weird has been happening to me and I’m curious if anybody else has experienced this.
It seems like the older I get the more that people who are claiming to be adults too are younger and younger?
They’ll say stuff like “I was born in 2002” when that’s clearly a year babies were born…?
Anyone know what’s going on? It’s scaring me.
Yes!! I work in a customer service field, and when customers contact me to update that they're married and I see a DOB starting with 20xx, I wanna scream. What is this, child marriage?!?!?!

Volunteering at this feral cat rescue is literally one of the best decisions I've made in years.
These guys are some of our 39 permanent residents and I love them all.

Thoughts?
Hell yeah, this rules! I love it!
Not the best, but still really good!
It's okay, I guess. Could be worse.
I have no opinion one way or the other.
It's not great. I really don't care for it.
This sucks! I demand a respin!
NOOOOOOOO!!!

I think I simply must adjust to feeling suicidal for every Monday for the rest of my life
And every February....
