Honestly to God strongly considering writing a fix it fic where y/n is Nikkis lawyer trying to prove her innocence in court, not even any romance or anything i just need to convince myself she's not spending the rest of her life in prison for what that freak did to her lmaooo
The single most horrific thing about Obsession to me is the fact that Nikki literally couldn't do anything about it. She tried to do the right thing initially, have her friend be up front with her about his feelings, and all she could do was trust him at his word when he lied directly to her. And then he went behind her back to, albeit unknowingly, strip her of her autonomy and individuality, everything that made her her, and there was absolutely nothing she could do. She couldn't fight him off, advocate for herself, she wasn't even given the grace to understand what was happening to her or why she's being made to act like this. And when everything goes down and Nikki begs Bear to kill her, the only ask that the real Nikki had made of him since the wish began, he didn't even have the decency to respect the one single fucking thing she had ever asked of him. He has the real Nikki in front of him, speaking to him, like he had wanted the entire time, and he essentially asks "Well what about how I feel about all this? What's so bad about being with me?"
And when he refused her wants and needs once again, there was not a thing she could do.
recently saw this screenshot in the wild and lost my mind because i knew it wasnt supposed to say girl. its ladykins. its get off the cross ladykins. i know this because ladykins is not something my brain could make up and i remember ladykins. and i was sincerely wondering if someone put in the work to censor ladykins for some inscrutable purposes but then i looked it up and
turns out that actually rupaul made the same tweet twice with 1 word changed 8 months apart. he meditated on this for 8 months and 5 days and the word ladykins came to him. i initially thought he copy pasted the first tweet but i dont think thats true anymore i dont think he was operating with any memory of the first tweet i think these words were always in him and will always be. second tweet did way worse by the way. the people did not respond to ladykins

toddlers are walking across keyboards to send lies to me
Tell me why I deadass just went onto Tiktok and saw people talking about how "the whole point of the movie was that he didn't need to do all of that, Nikki liked Bear before the wish and he just needed to be himself and it would have worked!"
Erm 🤓 actually the POINT is that Bear feels entitled to her either way, and he's wrong for it! Whether she liked him or not became completely irrelevant the second he decided that her autonomy was worth complete and total jack fucking shit to him. She could have liked him back the whole time, or she could have been willing to give him a chance, or she only saw him as a friend/brother. It doesn't matter to him. The point isn't that Bear was too scared to find out, the point was that he did not care to know in the first place. Her true feelings meant absolutely nothing to him, which is why he completely overrides them in the first place.
Obsession was a great movie with amazing moments and I will have a lot to say about it but it was incredibly funny to me that the entire plot rests on this fake magic store that sells actual magical ever powerful wish granters in the form of sticks and the employees are very casual and almost bored about it.

me as a child: this "$4.99" sales stuff is idiotic, anyone can instantly round this up to $5 in their mind, no one is falling for this
me as an adult: oh wow only $4 (with some additional numbers behind it), that's great because if it was a single dollar more that would have been the last straw for me in my miserable life
something that i find interesting about independent animation nowadays is that if you don't have studio/streamer backing, you have to release your work yourself on the internet, but you have to do it for free on the internet because virtually nobody is going to be willing to accept a paywall just for one original show, so what you have to do in order to make any money off of it is make all of your money from merchandising, but then this means that you show must be merchandisable and have very toyetic character designs that translate easily to plushies and whatnot, but then you also need to cater your show to people who are disproportionately inclined to buy merchandise like that in the first place so that your sales can be enough to sustain you, which means that even if you want to communicate complex or difficult ideas in your work, your independent animation project must attract (at least on a first impression) and retain viewers who are both very consumerist and very capable of rabid passion, which unfortunately has a single-circle shaped venn diagram with a lot of the most toxic fandom tendencies known to man, and this explains a lot of things about independent animation and its fandoms nowadays I think

just so we’re clear if you’ve never actually seen a cybertruck in person and have only seen photos of them i cannot stress enough how much worse they look in real life. like i honestly don’t know how it’s possible. most things look basically the same in pictures and in real life. but as stupid and ugly as cybertrucks look in photos, every person i’ve spoken to who has seen one in real life agrees that they somehow look even worse in person. and i know you’re thinking to yourself “tah they already look so bad in photos, how can they possibly look even worse in person?” I DONT KNOW. the first time i saw one on the road i was on a phone call and i literally cut myself off in the middle of a sentence just to be like “oh my GOD.” just an incredibly, laughably, unbelievably bad vehicle. i’ve never experienced anything like it. they’re just so bad

adulthood notes:
The Rodeo Rule: you only have to do it for the first time once.
The Rohan Rule: if you are at a social function full of new people and you want to be liked, find someone doing important work like setup or food prep and offer to help.
The Tutorial Mode Rule: to navigate an unfamiliar situation where you fear you will mess up an interaction, preface the interaction by mentioning that you've never done this before, and let them know if you have a specific concern or question.
The Rocket Science Rule: most new things you want to try seem very complicated but are simple when taken step by step.
The [X] Will Remember That Rule: if you need to make small talk with the same person on a regular basis, try to save one fact or current event in their life from a given conversation and bring it up next time you talk.
The Cool Binder Rule: by wearing clothes and accessories that are to your taste instead of trying to blend in, people will be more likely to compliment you and show interest in you as a person.
Working food service (pizza specifically) in the midwest is such a fucking time. A guy walks in with a maga hat and a "stand for the flag kneel for the cross" tshirt on and pays for his order and doesn't tip. Then a kid walks in who doesn't speak a lick of English and he has to communicate with Google translate while pointing at a menu. Then a parent calls for a delivery and you audibly hear them going through every single room in the house to ask each resident what specific pizza they want. Immediately after, someone calls you and asks if you do french fries (this is a pizza place). Then someone comes in and asks for the millionth time this week to ask if you take Apple Pay (twelve year old technology). Then a woman walks in and asks you dead in the fucking face if you serve gyros (still a pizza place). When you say "no" she asks if you at least still have the cucumber sauce. Then someone calls and asks for a large pizza, but changes it to a medium after you tell them the price of a large. The next caller calls to demand a store credit for their order being seven minutes late and hangs up without a word when they hear the delivery driver pulling in. Twenty minutes later a man walks in with a bright red Mao Zedong shirt and sunglasses and picks his order up and doesn't tip.
