  an exasperated yawn, and a boy stands. eyes flicker, and he stretches, blinks, and sits down again. there are prominent bags under his eyes. ah. he just downed an entire cup of coffee. harpy is awake.

  && she stands, eyes focused forward and mouth upturned in a grin. for she is a hunter tonight, and the scent of the dead is in the air. she has heard tales of a terrifying ghost in this area. has someone been left with debts unpaid, with things unsaid? or perhaps revenge. all the same, there is violence on the breeze tonight. she tugs her trusty axe out from behind her shoulder. “apologies for what i am about to do. this could get messy.” for the angry dead do not often spare innocents in their singleminded rampages, and a dragon is a protector as much as a hunter.

  headcanon 1: magic. magic, for urban dragons, is stored in their body, and channelled through physical actions. for some, it is incantations, hand gestures or simply blinking in a certain way. for each dragon it is different, but what matters is not the way, but that the dragon can connect to the magic in their body and draw it out.    lorelai’s favoured method of using her magic is runes. she can draw runes on the inside of her palm, and writing the correct one channels spells she has practised over time. magic is not a set of rules. each dragon makes their own rules for how they use the latent magical power that rests within their body. lorelai can make objects explode, make waves of force and turn lights on without touching them with ease, by writing runes of power on the palm of her hand with her finger. larger spells require more energy, and the most powerful ones, such as exorcisms, require her to draw the runes onto the earth.  harpy cannot draw out the body’s latent magical power as easily as lorelai. he is what a practised magical user would call powernumb. he can do a few simple spells, such as one to keep himself from feeling tired, and one that lets him make light, but they take their toll on him, and put him in a terrible mood. this only applies for lorelai when she overexerts herself, and does a huge spell.

 do you like dragons? do you like harpies? do you like accurate portrayals of over stigmatised mental illnesses? then boy do i have a pair of ocs for you! lorelai and harpy are silly best friends who share a body and get on each other’s nerves. while harpy holds down the fort in a coffee shop in the day, lorelai hunts ghosts for a living at night (and falls in love with the cute ones). they’re both disasters but they’re loyal as shit, and i love them. thanks.   “sorry, sorry! but there really was a ghost in your garden. i’ll get out now if you want!” her night’s pay relies on catching this little poltergeist. but all the same, she needs to apologise to the person whose garden she... wrecked.
