“And where is it you work? A candy store?”

          “There’s never any rest for the wicked, is there? It seems that once I close, I’m already working on tomorrow’s things.“

“What’s tomorrow? Halloween has been pretty hectic when it comes to work - at least no tortured animals this year.”

“Only if you’re allergic, so I’m pretty sure you’re safe.”

“Whoa, calm down.” Hayden eyed the other person with caution, not knowing whether to be irritated or worried. “Are you going to keep on yelling at me, or are you going to tell me what’s going on with you?”

“I’m sorry I’m not - I’m not yelling at you. I’m on my bluetooth. There’s been a breakout at work and we seem to have a dog on the loose.”

         “We’re about to have a circus clown dictator for president and people are worried about the new Christmas cup from Starbucks.”

         “Debating goin’ home to Alaska and disappearing into the wildnerness, BRB.”

“What the fuck is wrong with the cup this time?” Luke mused with a roll of his eyes before laughing. “Learn to live like Katniss Everdeen.”

“Oh, shit, yikes man.  I didn’t know that.  My guess is y’all were just fuck buddies or something.—We’re some aesthetically pleasing babes, what can we say?”

Luke gave a shrug and smiled at her. “Nah, almost two years strong. But don’t worry about it - it’s all history now.”

Sebastian smiled widely as Lucas allowed him to have him - if only temporarily. Nodding in agreement he kept pulling on the arm he was already hugging to drag the redhead into a real hug. It was so ridiculous, but right now he felt so vulnerable and tiny. Maybe because Lucas knew him so well. Or had known him so well, before everything went to shit. “Yeah, Benny should be okay. Now I think you have to feed me so I’ll be okay. And also hold me. And maybe watch a movie. And get inside because I’m done now.”

Seb ran circles around his heart, it was like a pull he couldn’t deny and yeah, so maybe he did envelop his arms around the other lad. Maybe he did tangle his fingers in his hair and rest his head atop of his with a gentle sigh. He was needy, he always had been and Luke had always been unable to say no. He barely pulled away, just walked with him until they were inside with the door closed behind them. “You got anything in that I can use to cook?” He asked with a light laugh, knowing fully well that Sebastian’s cupboards would be bare.

“Well everyone has their ‘what if’ person.  I guess Zac Efron is yours.  Not sure who mine is, but I should probably get on that.  You know, in case I stumble onto that one in a million chance.” Although, it wasn’t as if he was in a relationship anyways or would be in one for quite some time.  He was far too busy to be able to manage one.  “Best advice I ever got was don’t mess with closeted guys unless it’s something real.  Sounds selfish I guess but…It’s done me well.”  Well in the past that was, Cullen seemed to be betraying the advice lately and all it was doing was landing him in trouble.  “Well you can thank my parents for that.  And I’ll thank yours.”

“Zac Efron is my ride or die. Ever since those High School Musical movies, well - I just couldn’t get him off of my mind.” He rubbed at his bicep, wrapping his arms around himself. “My parents were pretty good to me when I came out, in fact I think they wanted to throw a party - I strongly advised against it for my own sanity.” 

“I mean, I don’t know if I trust Seb’s standards because he sort of will fuck anything that walks, but at least I know that aesthetically he has good taste.”

“Ahh -- I do love listening to tales of my ex boyfriends sex life. Aesthetically, he has good taste in friends, also.”

“I mean who hasn’t gone through a ‘smother everything in ranch’ phase, after all?” He implored before adding “I believe mine was in 04′?”  Upon the other man’s pointing out of his nasty habit, Brett’s eyes dropped, abashed.  “Guilty.” He acknowledged. “Although I mean, you know how people are stress eater’s?  I’m a stress smoker.  And it’s purely natural, if you get what I’m saying.  I mean I’m from Seattle for fuck’s sake, I really didn’t have a chance.  Not that I have to excuse myself to you.” he said with a good hearted grin.  “Meat in front of a puppy, huh?  Duly noted.”

“I call that phase ‘My natural existence’.” He added with a small hum and a smile. Albeit, he felt a little cruel for pointing out the fact that he was a smoker but it wasn’t something he could judge himself. “C’mon, I was almost flattered there when you started to explain yourself. I felt special for a moment.” He teased with a shrug of his shoulder. “You’re basically a tree, can you blame me? Anyone who see’s you must have a natural urge to just...climb.”
