Just a quick rant about my gripes with a specific Undertale Theory, it could still totally be correct, I just haven't heard any good rebutta
saw this short on youtube and it got me thinking about my theory on the nature of human souls and the determination ability in humans so here's my thoughts.
the video talks about the theory of all humans having determination and by extension the ability to save and load, and the video creator disagrees with that theory because if the other humans had the same ability, how did they die? if they could reload at will, they should've been able to just reload and try again.
the way i view human souls is that every soul has all seven traits, but the dominant/primary/strongest trait is the one that determines the colour of the soul. while i believe every soul can use every ability, the one that determines their colour will be the one that requires the least effort and be the most natural to use. so while frisk and other red souls are able to save and load almost at will, a perseverance or bravery aligned soul, for example, while having the same ability, will not be able to do so as effortlessly.
essentially, to answer the given question of "if all humans can reload, why did they die?" i feel it comes down to the point where the effort to reload becomes too much to be worth it.
there is also this whole bit where it's mentioned that with each death our grip on the world slips more, which to me supports the idea it becomes harder to reload with each death, so for somebody who already has to expend effort to reload, there comes a point where the reward greatly outweighs the cost
reblogging this here cause I forgot i had this blog
