This tree is an example of a gemel, or two conjoined trees that fused together in a process called inosculation - essentially, self-grafting. This is pretty common in thin-barked trees like apple trees, blackthorn, beech, and olives, but pretty rare in thick-barked Douglas fir trees like this one. This tree has a lot of damage from boring beetles, possibly by Douglas fir beetles, Denroctonus pseudotsugae (I could be wrong, though). Being fused together might have weakened the tree, making it susceptible to beetle attack.Â

I really like the idea of young crown from jody’s pov being like the coolest, most effortlessly pretty girl in the whole wide world when in reality she’s just like your average fail child
like she wears the tackiest outfits ever. she tried wearing purple accents to make her eyes pop, but literally none of the purples match. it’s too humid in the ballroom so her hair is frizzing up. she’s wearing 5 different shades of blush. she put a little braid in her hair to match jody. etc etc
