What if the pages of your life are bleached white into a new beginning?
One minute you're cramming for exams. The next, you're dead. And the minute after that? You're eighteen again, standing in a world where magic is as real as the green grass, and no one's around to tell you what to do with either.
This is the rewrite you're waiting for. No destiny. No chosen-one prophecy. Just you, your choices, and a world that won't hold your hand. Train in elemental magic that bends reality. Master weapons that legends are forged with. Or just throw hands… Literally… And become a brawler who laughs at sorcerers. The world doesn't care how you get strong. It only cares that you do.
Every person you meet has their own agenda. Befriend them. Betray them. Fall in love. Make enemies.
What happens next is up to you

There's no such feature yet in the game due to how volatile the save system currently is. I've played a lot of COGgames and twine, and they have the feature to import and export save, so maybe I'll try to figure it out and make one so you can interchange between browser and app version.
Lowkey, I almost forgot about doing these kind of devlogs again, lol. I've been busy locking-in for this week because I'm now free from college! Yay, I'll be free until like the end of August, so I got plenty of times to improve my IF and working on several things I didn't have the time to do yet.
That shadow-ban on the game's anniversary was bunz, but I'm glad it's only a week and a half. I've read that some people was banned for weeks or months before they got a reply, I was pretty lucky.
What I've done :
The story for this update was about 30%-40% complete, I think. I can't predict how many words the story is going to end up because most of the time, I only outline and let my brain fill-in the details next. I'm currently working on the continuation and some of the side-story needed for chapter 4.
Gameplay-wise, I've been… experimenting, especially with the text formatting. I think I've figured out most that you can do in Godot engine for text, and I love the result so far. I've also been smoothing out the combat, transition, and fixing/correcting bugs and grammar mistakes.
There are some backgrounds and characters I want to create again in pixel art. I don't think my pixel art skill has improved at all, but we'll see the result because everything is still mostly a concept.
Behind the scene
My writing speed has been astronomically good this past week. Maybe because I have so much free time on my semester break, but I have consistently write my daily word count goal. I think with this speed, I can finish all the story I want to make in early to middle of next month.
While the tumblr was being shadow-banned, I've been conversing with a person on the discord server. He somehow is able to abuse the hell out of the combat system I have created, which makes me need to lock-in even more on the combat and improved the system again and again. I love it actually, as I'm forced to up my game and not get complacent.
By the way, I've made a poll on the discord about whether joining the guild should be mandatory or if you could just chill in Another World and make it optional. Of course the answer will be optional, I know the branching will get a little crazy, but I'm pretty sure I can still handle it quite well. I've thought a few ideas about the non-guild MC, and have got some interesting ones. We'll see which one I'll pick though.
Because I can't comment anymore, I'll clarify here
Tumblr hasn't replied to my email yet so I don't know the reason why I was shadowbanned. But, I'm positive my tumblr account is shadowbanned, it shows all the signs. The message section disappeared, my post didn't appear in tag-search, I can't comment or do anything other than posting, even my blog won't appear if you search for it normally.
I'll probably be inactive in here until tumblr replied to my email, which I don't know when it'll happen.
A bummer that this happened during the game's anniversary, but it is what it is...

It's already been a year of me doing this. I've written over 200K of words, along with thousands of lines of code. Honestly, I can't believe I've been this consistent in something lol, I guess I really find my passion.
Making this game and the story has been a blast for me. I learned a lot, and have come far from my own starting point. I still remember watching countless video on writing tips and godot tutorial. I made a lot of mistakes in the beginning, that's also why there are two consecutive update focused on re-write, maybe the story would have advance much further without it. Then again, the quality wouldn't be as good as it is today. When I start, it was when I recently graduated from high school too, so I was really ambitious and overscoped a lot. I still am ambitious, by the way, I just have a better sense over the direction I'm heading now compared to me a year ago.
The reason why I started making this game is because I was maybe a bit bored due to all the free time I had when I freshly graduated. I'm also curious about a certain aspect in Interactive Fiction and that's how you can literally create your own world. I mean any story does that, but with Interactive Fiction, you're able to interact with the world itself, being a part of it and influence it to a degree. That's also probably why I picked Godot Engine to create the game.
When I was planning on creating RIAW, I was thinking on where should I create it. Most IF is created in Twine or COG. But, I was unfamiliar with both and the gameplay aspect in those two is quite limited, and it definitely wouldn't be able to support my turn based combat system. In the end, I picked godot, even with its weak support in creating Interactive Fiction, it's still an all-rounder engine and I'm able to manage it quite well.
At first, I thought this game is going to be a short one. I was thinking perhaps I can finish the game in a year or something. Now, here I am not even halfway there yet. I overestimate myself too much and paid the price lol. I'm also moving in a snail pace whenever I write, maybe because I'm a beginner or that English isn't my first language. Oh, and perhaps college took maybe more than half of my time too. I really wish I still have my free-time I got when I first graduated.
Thank you everyone, your kind words and the time you spent in playing my game helps me in moving forward and continue despite the issues I encountered during development.
I also want to give shoutouts to people on discord for giving me suggestions, corrections, and encouragement during the creation of this game. I can't list all of you now because your numbers keep on growing, but thank you, y'all!
And of course, the last special shoutout I will give is honored to my very own laptop. It's an old, 2013 laptop, with the fan as loud as a jet engine and the speed of a grandpa, but the old dude somehow is able to keep up with the development of this game. Without this laptop, RIAW is non-existent. Anyway, here's the reveal of the legend itself.
I hope the second year of the development of RIAW will go much more smoother than the first year. I'm hoping I'll have creativity flowing like a raging river too. See you later, y'all :)

Some of you seem to love Ianthina, so I decided to put a little something into her perspective after your encounter with her.
Enjoy :)
By the way, update is in a few hours.
My own feet move rhythmically as I'm heading towards an important meeting. The modification of the Lone Peak Dungeon is an urgent issue that needs a solution as soon as possible. My mind should've been occupied with the huge event that's about to come, but the encounter I had from this afternoon keeps replaying in my head.
Old man Rigor's delivery-youth, who walked into my little side-hobby of a shop this afternoon, who are they? It's already rare for any ordinary person to catch my attention, but this stranger was impossible to ignore.
For starters, the way they dress is... unconventional. It seems to be a combination of both a monk's robe and a short tunic, with a pouch sewn across the belly and a row of iron teeth acting as buttons or laces. I could see how they looked around, taking everything in as if they were new to everything. They're also about as oblivious as a toddler when it comes to magical knowledge.
But I still can gloss over those.
What I don't get is why my spell can't catch any glimpse of them? And that backlash... did I make any mistakes? That can't be. I've practiced this spell since forever and this repercussion for a minor spell is unheard of. Then what's the reason for this person's complete invisibility? My theory of them being protected by a divine being, although it sounds plausible, is impossible. It's a complete mockery of Divinity. History books have iterated countless times before: no champion of the Divine shall exist after the demise of-
"Miss Ianthina?"
I release my sigh. Unknowingly, I've already arrived at my destination. I'll be waiting for our next meeting, invisible stranger. I have a feeling it'll happen soon enough.
"Yes, dear. Am I correct to assume I am on time?"
"Yes, Miss, the meeting begins in a few minutes. You're right on time. A few have arrived, including Lord Aurelius."
"Is that so? Then, would you kindly escort me to the gathering room?"
As a celebration for the update that's about to come, I'll post povs of 2 separate characters, who witness and experience the event of the main story. One is my favorite and another is your favorite (from what I've seen at least because I don't have enough time to make a voting post). This is my first time creating a pov and I'm doing this only for fun, so don't expect Shakespeare-level writing yet :p
Enjoy
"Keep up the good work, Mr. Diakritos."
I smile, but the strength exerted over the handle increased by a thousandfold. In my head it's a thousandfold, in reality, I'm not sure this ancient broom can handle it.
"Your boots look dirty, do you want me to sweep it too?"
"Haha, nice one, but I'll have to refuse your offer. See you later, lad."
What a piece of crap, but I am finally having the entire quarter for myself now.
I've been walking back and forth, holding a worn broom, with the brush falling apart with each sweep. This hall is one of the frequently walked part of the headquarter, so of course I'm forced to come back to this hall repeatedly in one shift. At this point, I'm questioning the damn point of repeatedly cleaning this hall. How difficult is it to just let the hall as it is until the end of the day and then do the cleaning duty all at once in the end?!
Why did they keep assigning me with this task if they already know I'll be complaining all the time and won't do it seriously? Not only are they punishing me for helping some poor random newcomer, who's lost in the middle of the city with no one batting an eye, they also give me the most moronic reasoning as to why I should take this task.
"Oh, DiaKriToS, bUT yOuR EyeS arE sHarP aS EAglE. You'rE moSt sUIteD fOR ThiS tASK, EspEciaLLy in spOTing thE GriME."
For the million times, my Khayrean ancestry embody Raven's spirit, not those smug buffons! How does it feel to be compared to a goblin just because you both have four limbs and a face? This is stupid and screw them AND their grandmother! How rude of them!
You know what? They can decide what I am whatever they want, then I'll decide my shift however I want too. Screw this stupid duty too! I'll take my break for the day.
I throw the broom into the storage room, before settling upon the soft couch. The not yet extinguished fireplace near me is a bonus for the work I have to endure. Seriously, I would rather have the patrol duty, having the room to move freely and witnessing countless interesting scenario unfold. With cleaning duty, this privilege is my only consolation.
Slowly, my eyelids drop, resonating with the calm atmosphere. I let myself relax, falling deeper and deeper into the sweet embrace of slumber while my mind fade into nothingness.
BAM
I cough and fall to the floor. This sensation... Someone is attempting an awakening at this hour?! Even underground, I can clearly sense the mana signature permeating from the center of the city. Just who the hell is insane enough to do this?!
Heh, at least something interesting is finally happening today. I almost thought this day will end up peacefully (and boringly).
Let's check out that lunatic.
Being able to fly, I arrived at the location faster before everyone can even register what's happening. But this place gives my heart a jolt just from a glance.
This is Rigor's inn!
I quickly come inside, only to discover the stranger I helped yesterday, lying on the floor along with the rest of the residents, all unconscious. But the mana signature can't disappear easily, the one who attempted the awakening is that lost dude!
I knew it! I knew this kid has something weird at first glance! I just wasn't aware this person is this crazy!
No way, the inn is almost intact too? If not for the kid's awakening spell being used, everything would've been near spotless. I thought a huge battle was erupting, but this near, no destruction state is strange. Wait, the kid use this spell against somebody?! They are attempting murder in their awakening?? Holy orcs!
I look at a random guy near the kid, who has residual mana leaving him and his body being more damaged than the rest. Poor dude, having to withstand the spell of a freshly awakened lunatic.
Oh poor Rigor too, he always have the craziest residents in his inn. Perhaps, poor the stranger too? They seem to attract trouble just by existing.
This situation...
Me, the first member of the City Watch who arrived here, should be the one to handle it. But, how do I even deal with this mess...?

can i play now, and come back after the update without losing progress, or is it one of those game changing updates?
This update will be quite huge, many things have been changed including the save system, which has been improved a lot. I would suggest for anyone to wait until June 14th to avoid losing their progress of the game. But, if you want to say goodbye to this version of the game, you still have time :)
Yeah yeah, I know it's supposed to be devlog time but it can be set aside from now because I have more important stuff to tell.
Next update will be released on 14th of June!
Yep, you heard me right, the update will be during the game's first anniversary! It's a special date and I'll make sure I made it in time this time. I've done a lot and the game has changed in many aspects, especially the six features I created during the first prototype version. I don't want to spoil things yet so I'll end the talk about the update here. However, it is not the only things I want to talk about.
So, I'll be hosting the game's first ever closed testing phase. I want this update to be extra polished, so I'll need people helping me. The good news is everyone can join this testing phase! With being a tester, you'll be able to experience the update faster than anybody else, but will also have to provide feedback as the result. The link to sign up is below, see you guys!
TESTER ADMISSION
And sorry, but no more devlogs until the update to build suspense :)
Hi again, everyone! I've once again come back out of my seclusion to tell you the progress I manage to made in this week. The update is actually getting an inch closer day by day and the update log had gotten too long for its own good. I think I almost made it, only a few thing left to do.
What I've done :
I've done 6K words this week, not that much of a progress story-wise, but I think I almost finished with the story anyway.
The weapon system has been reworked too. I've finally done this after some small planning and I think this progress will give me the opportunity to be more creative with the story as well as I could finally write some story variations based on the weapon you used.
I've also done the training mini game I need to make, so training is finally completed!
Behind the scene
Overall, I'm satisfied with how I manage to finish off all of my goal for this week. There's definitely more than I can do but with college bothering me at full-power, being able to made sizeable progress like this is already a blessing.
I'm an inch away in finishing the story as well. I think this week will be the final development before I begin to put all the story into the game in JSON format ( my bane of existence ).
If the development goes smoothly, I'll finish the story tomorrow and begin the inputting and polishing process immediately. I also have an announcement but I think I'll only do it after I finish the content first.

[ANOTHER WORLD NOTES #13] : Inch away from crashing out
Not really but this week is quite bothersome. First of all, screw these projects the college assigned me in the span of this damn week! I was only able to work on very few stuff this week as a result, not quite reaching as much as I intended to do.
What I've done :
• 5.5K words written. A smaller progress but I've finished another event (adventure-wise)
• Fixing bugs and more bugs. Yep, idk why but there are a lot of bug report this week. Obviously I can't deliver the patch yet as I intend to do it while also releasing this update.
Behind the scene
The only behind the scene I got right now is the amount of work I need to do for college. Have been a little inactive due to this but hopefully the waves of assignments end soon.
I've been planning on trying to improve the weapon system while also adding the missing durability training this week. Already have something in mind but implementation is always the hard part. Story-wise, I'm planning to continue on the main line of the story. I mean, I do write story but right now, it's mostly side-quests stuff.
My bike was also broken. Already fixed but it takes up a day so I waste some time in that too, damn.
[ANOTHER WORLD NOTES #12] : Stand ready for my progress, worm!
Another week passed and another week of progress! This week, I was tanking college quizzes and this game's development like prime Tyson. I can't wait to show the result to y'all but I know a delicious food must be prepared meticulously first, I can't be impatient.
What I've done :
I've write about 8K words this week, which is a little less than yesterday but I finally finished Rigor's training lessons! Took me some time here due to me having to plan out a balanced benefits while still making the story interesting.
Gameplay wise, y'all minmaxxer is about to be happy once this update drops. There's a damn lot of improvement to smooth out replayability. I won't tell the details though, it's better for you to experience it yourself once the update come.
Adding more contents like moves and enemies to the game too. I'm also still trying to make defeating them become beneficial, so expect more improvement in game's side content too!
Behind the scene
I still have no idea how I'm able to locking in for this long lol. Can't you believe it? I'm already at streak 3 and still going strong. I still have many ideas on my mind about the story, but I don't know if my finger could keep up with my ideas though.
My brain is also cooking on a generational run There's almost no obstruction in me working on the mechanics and code of the game.
I'm at my 120% of my potential right now!
Also, I've submitted my game in the interact-if genre list. Idk, I just saw it a few days ago and think "cool, maybe I could find some IF I can play once I finish this update." And a day after, I was thinking, "Damn, why didn't I submit my game too?" And so I did.
I still haven't figured out this whole quotations rules and stuff… One of the member of my discord (shout out to The Snow ) keep on reporting grammar mistakes about those problem, but up until now my brain is still short circuiting. I honestly feel a lil bad because I still don't get it until now…
