your friendly reminder that younger you would be so proud.

yes, we have all made mistakes in life, and some of us go through traumatic events. even if you’re not proud of the things you’ve done, younger you is proud of you for pushing through and learning. younger you is proud of you for trying. being proud doesn’t necessarily mean you have to agree with everything, it’s all about acknowledging the strength and power you’ve shown. it’s about recognizing that you can be proud of yourself in your darkest moments too.

been thinking a lot about teenage me recently. she would be so proud of me for continuing to overcome social anxiety. she would be so proud of me for asking for help and seeing a therapist & psychiatrist. she would be proud of me for trying medication and having a healthy way to manage my mental health.

throughout the past decade, she wouldn’t be proud of some of my actions, but instead she would be proud of what i did to take accountability for those actions and better myself instead. she would be proud that i finally recognized my toxic patterns and behaviors and didn’t let myself live that way anymore.
