Making fic prompts from my favorite tropes and headcanons is what I like to do. Let's go. Today's HC in question is "Eskel has so much chaos Ban Ard was interested in him"
Okay, if you have enough chaos for magical school to be interested in you, that means you can be very dangerous on accident and need training to avoid exactly that. But, canonically, not everyone with magical talents get on Ban Ard/Aretuza radar. And there are no rules about it being the only possible way to learn control. Sure, you can attend school. Or you could be with druid circle. Or have a private tutor (like Mousesack for Pavetta).
If Eskel needed training to control chaos, there was no need to send him to Ban Ard. First, he was just a boy, young and appropriately dumb. He could accidentally spill something about Kaer Morhen. Unacceptable. Second, there were mages at Kaer Morhen. Perfectly capable to handle this privately within school walls. Mages who were in charge of making witchers. Who probably needed more hands but were extremely careful about who to trust with information. And there, just for them, mage/witcher hybrid. Perfect candidate to teach.
From books we know that mutagens and potions aren't the problem. The problem about making new witchers is that their no mages who know how to do that. How to use potions, what magic needed for mutations.
You already figured out where this is going. Eskel knows. He knows how to make witchers. He has knowledge and abilities to perform trials. Not just in theory, he actually did it. His teachers made him practice on boys before Kaer Morhen was attacked. Vesemir may have helped with process from time to time in terms of "put this in here, bring that, watch for pulse". Completely manual way that didn't require magic. So he has vague idea, but no specific knowledge. That knowledge is exclusive to Eskel. And Eskel won't even admit to it. Definitely not to his brothers. He suspects that Vesemir suspects that he knows, but old man never asked. For whatever reason, thanks to that. Eskel intends to take this knowledge to his grave

Wow wtf HIV/AIDS was discovered by Flossie Wong-Staal, an Chinese-American woman, and she’s the reason the HIV test even exists. she has since passed away (pneumonia during the height of covid in 2020) and I just want to say what a huge loss this is. she was still actively consulting with scientific research, and if you work in the sciences you know that people in the field keep working, advising, and providing their decades of insight up until their death. her knowledge was invaluable to us. and still she saved millions of lives.
