you shouldn’t let anyone force their opinions on you

you read because it makes you happy

You started writing a story and don’t have a plot…

At first, I was upset. But then I started thinking about what Maas was doing and realized why Feyre didn’t. Nesta, as she is now, can’t have a place in Velaris. The only place for Nesta (as she is now) in Velaris is as Feyre’s older sister who Feyre provides for. That’s the identity they all give Nesta and as long as she’s in Velaris, it’s the only one she will ever be able to wear. Because Nesta living in Velaris and Feyre providing for her, is the same situation they were in back in the cottage/hovel where they used to live.

Nesta is SO MUCH MORE than that. Nesta is a queen and a leader and an Alpha-Fae. But as we see in this book, Nesta can’t be any of those things because Velaris already has ruling Alpha-Fae and a ruling Fae-pack. They’re like dogs.

And as another Alpha-Fae, there is no place for Nesta. It’s why Rhys can’t stand her, why he tries to cow her with a command in the Teaser scene and it’s why Nesta REFUSES to obey his Alpha-Fae order to sit down. Rhys isn’t using magic in that scene, he’s issuing an order. Asking her to submit to his authority as the Alpha of this pack. It’s the Fae equivalent of the alpha male or female in a wolf pack standing at attention, baring it’s teeth with its ears raised and pushed forward. The other wolves lay down and piss themselves to show submission.

But Nesta is an Alpha-Fae. And she’s like “Fuck you, I’m not in your pack/Inner Circle.”

It’s also why Cassian can’t be chill with Nesta when the others are around. I’m not making this up either. We get LEGIT lines about Cassian responding to Nesta’s “dominance” in the book. And his whole “I can’t stay away” thing is partly mating bond, but ALSO his inner non-alpha Fae, responding to the Alpha-Fae in Nesta. Cassian WANTS to follow her, wants to submit. But Nesta has to get her shit together and become the leader she was meant to be. And she can’t do that in Velaris where the only option is do be Rhys and Feyre’s underling.

Nesta is more than that.

And it’s why Feyre didn’t get her a Solstice present or hang pictures of Nesta in her house. It was another way for Maas to show the reader that Nesta (as she is currently) does not have a place in Velaris or in the Inner Circle. 

I would bet money that as soon as Nesta goes off and asserts herself as the leader she was always meant to be (the one she knows she is!), then she will come back to Velaris, and Feyre will paint pictures of her because she will have a place among the hierarchy of the Fae that makes sense to them. Rhys will recognize her as he does the other High Lords (as a leader in her own right, deserving his respect), and then she’ll fit in with the Inner Circle. She has to have her own “pack” and her own place to be an “alpha” so that she can have a place in Velaris that is wholly separate from Rhys’s and Feyre’s rulership. 

Okay so, Nesta.

Nesta has a lot of trauma and so do others, but she has attempted rape looming over her, a father that didn’t try much, the dislike of faes, war and the killing of her father.

Everyone handles trauma and grief differently, understood.

But what you WILL NOT do is treat your younger sister, who didn’t grow up the way you did, by not learning to read or know her family before everything really started to change, differently. Just because you want to show your father that HE needs to step up, NEWS FLASH, he isn’t so why not at least help your sister on the side or something.

Asking for fucking boots, when you sister just walked in with a big wolf’s pelt on her back, not “Are you okay, Feyre?” But for fucking boots?

Then your sister is taken against her will, comes back with more wealth for you to survive on and comes back with her mate and others to help you with war for those that can not defend themselves.

Next, I’m pretty sure if Feyre had it her way, she would have hid her sisters so that they were not left in the open to be brought to the Cauldron to be Made. She would have tried to protect them, if she knew. So for Nesta to CONTINUOUSLY throw in the “Me being Made was your fault.” line is a low fucking blow, because it was not Feyre’s fault and she knows it.

So, we get to ACOFAS and if you handle grief differently then others then go ahead and grieve. But what is not going to happen, is that you take MY money, not visit or say hi to your other sister. And go off to do whatever. You can at least visit or send a damn bird about what you’re doing. But to continue to expect money, while even your other sister tries to handle and get a grip of her trauma, is some b.s.

No, Nesta is a grown woman and she will do what she wants. There is no one like Tamlin around that locks her in her room. No one forced her not to eat. Hell from the way the Inner Circle works, they try to make sure she at least eats something. Cass even brought her some damn tea, but she didn’t take it.

What I’m saying is, Nesta has free will and can do what she wants. So no one is holding her back, because you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make them drink. And YES, Feyre needs to stop pushing her, and Rhys needs to do a better job of forgiving, but you can not continuously be cold and think people are going to keep going out of their way for you.

Like the paintings on the wall, Nesta you have not been around, why would someone keep something up that reminds them of you, when you show that you have no interest in trying?

All I’m saying is Nesta is grown, no one is holding her hostage, yet she refuses to at least try, no matter how VERY small the steps are, yet expects to be treated as if she never left or treated Feyre worse. Your own sister didn’t even think her big sister would help her with her damn reading lessons because of the demeanor she puts on!

Okay, first of all I loved the book. I dont know why half of yall are so upset about it. Sarah gave us an AMAZING bridge book to tide us over, and QUEEN MAAS IS LITERALLY ABOUT TO POP OUT A TINY HUMAN. BE GREATFUL.

Second, people are so pissy over how the IC dealt with Nesta’s depression/PTSD in the book and I’m already over it. Let me remind you, bitch, that LITERALLY EVERYONE IN THE IC IS DEALING WITH SOME DEGREE OF DEPRESSION/PTSD And everyone deals with that shit differently. Feyre and Elain are still healing, and have ALLOWED our precious Rhysie and friends to help them! There have always been hands out for Nesta, and Rhys has never turned her away even though he (rightfully) dislikes her for how she’d treated Feyre for so long. There has always been a support system waiting to help her. She’s the one trying to bite off the fingers of every hand that reaches out to her, and then wonders why people eventually stop trying to do so.

Thirdly; FEYRE DARLING DOESN’T OWE NESTA SHIT! That woman, ahem female, spent YEARS providing for her older sisters and father, never once expecting or receiving a thank you, but always getting ass to kiss and disdain from NESTA in return. Even after the bullshit with Hybern Feyre tried over and over to reach out to Nesta, to understand and help her sister. Feyre has MORE than earned her happiness, and MORE than earned the right to send Nesta’s grown ass to Illyria to sort out her problems. Nesta needs to get her shit together. My High Lady has a territory to run, and a continent to piece back together.

Don’t get it twisted, I absolutely love Nesta’s character. I love that she’s flawed, and not smiling and perky, that she doesn’t radiate light. I love that she’s cold, and calculating, and intelligent, and hard as hell to get close to. I just don’t like how people are holding FEYRE accountable for Nesta’s choice in how to deal with her Depression/PTSD. I’m excited to see where Queen Maas takes us with Nesta’s story. And when all is said and done I hope that she truly, deeply makes peace with those that she’s scorned for loving her in all her flawed glory.

Let’s just take a moment to think about Eris.

I have a feeling that he’s not really as bad as he is shown. In ACOWAR he said to Mor that he broke off the engagment beacuse he “knew why she did it” (Why she had fucked with Cassian) so he gave her freedom.

And in ACOFAS we have that scene when Mor thinks about past. And Eris said that if he touched her she would be their buissnes. So he left her at the ground.

But don’t you think for a moment that he knew Mor don’t want to live in the Autumn Court and if he touched her he would have to kill her or bound her to the Autumn Court. So he left her beacuse he knew that Azriel or Rhysand or Cassian would find her.

We don’t know how Az found Mor. Maybe he had a message from someone (maybe Eris, maybe that solider) where he need to search? And he could take her to Rhyand beacuse Eris left her free.

If you don’t notice all that cruel things like nails had happened to Mor at Hewn City. From her family. Not from Eris. He just rejected engagements. He just left her at this ground. That’s all what he had done.

And maybe I’m naive but I want to think that Eris isn’t as bad as he is shown.

Me: NESTA HAS PTSD AND IS BEING VILIFIED FOR HER RESPONSE TO DEEP TRAUMA. RHYSAND AND FEYRE ARE LETTING HER WASTE AWAY JUST LIKE TAMLIN DID TO FEYRE. IT’S HYPOCRITICAL AND SELF-RIGHTEOUS. WHY DID YOU INVITE HER TO SOLSTICE AND BEG HER TO COME THEN NOT EVEN GET HER A GIFT?! WHY DO YOU THINK SHE DOESN’T WANT TO BE A PART OF YOUR LIFE IF YOU PUT UP PORTRAITS OF LITERALLY EVERYONE BUT HER?! TREATING HER LIKE A FERAL ANIMAL FEEDS HER FEELINGS OF BROKENNESS AND SELF-DEPRECATING TENDENACIES. RHYSAND IS A HYPOCRITE. HE LIVED 500 YEARS PUTTING ON A MASK OF CRUELNESS AND SOMETIMES ACTUALLY BEING CRUEL TO PROTECT THOSE HE LOVED AND HIMSELF YET HE HAS NO TOLERANCE OR FORGIVENESS TO SOMEONE WHO DOES THE SAME?! HE ATTEMPTS TO FORGIVE TAMLIN OF ALL PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY PHYSICALLY HARMS FEYRE YET DOESN’T SHOW AN OUNCE OF TRUE COMPASSION FOR SOMEONE WHO PASSIVELY NEGLECTED AND YES SOMETIMES SAID HORRIBLE THINGS TO FEYRE 5 YEARS AGO AND WAS ALSO BEING SIMULTANEOUSLY NEGLECTED BY AN ACTUAL AUTHORITY FIGURE?!?! NESTA WAS ALSO A FORGOTTEN AND STARVING CHILD. THEY OPENLY ACCEPT THOSE WHO HAVE ENDURED TRAUMA AND THE RESULTING SCARS YET SHE RECEIVES BARELY ANYTHING ABOVE SCORN AND THE EXPECTATION THAT SHE PICK HERSELF UP BY THE BOOTSTRAPS? HOW DARE RHYSAND, RHYS WHO ABOVE ALL SHOULD UNDERSTAND HATRED AND ANGER, SHOWS NOTHING BUT ARROGANT AND BLIND DERISION. IT IS FEYRE AND RHYSAND WHO SHOULD FEEL ASHAMED.
