My fellow RoLo'ers...

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate what an incredible year 2026 has been for fans of Wolverine and Storm?

Seriously... 2026 has turned into the Year of RoLo!

Whether you're a Wolverine fan, a Storm fan, or a devoted RoLo'er like me who loves them both as individual characters and as a couple, 2026 has been an incredible year to be a fan.

First, X-Men '97 Season 2 is finally here, and it's been absolutely stellar.

Storm continues to prove why she's one of Marvel's premier heroes, with her acclaimed solo series even earning a 2026 Eisner Award nomination for Best Continuing Series.

Meanwhile, Wolverine fans are finally getting the long-awaited video game we've been dreaming about, with Marvel's Wolverine arriving this September.

And as RoLo fans, we've already been treated to some wonderful moments this year, from the gorgeous Marvel Swimsuit Special: Brand New Beach Day variant cover featuring Logan and Ororo together to the fantastic dynamic between them in the current X-Men: Outback series.

And now...

Marvel is giving us something else to be excited about.

Maximum X-Men.

Announced at San Diego Comic-Con, Maximum X-Men is a brand-new ongoing series written by Christopher Yost and illustrated by Tony S. Daniel. Launching this December, the series features Storm leading a brand-new X-Men team that includes Wolverine, Colossus, Psylocke, Bishop, Firestar, Justice, and Iceman as they step up to become Earth's Mightiest Mutants in the aftermath of Avengers: Armageddon.

As many of you know, Christopher Yost is no stranger to the X-Men. He's written some fantastic mutant stories over the years, and Tony S. Daniel is one of the industry's premier artists. Needless to say, I am incredibly excited to see what this creative team has in store for Logan, Ororo, and the rest of the team.

And yes...

You all know I'm doing a very happy dance because Ororo is finally back with the X-Men!

YAY!!!!!! 🎉⚡

But here's where I want to speak directly to my fellow RoLo'ers.

For years, many of us have asked Marvel to feature Storm and Wolverine together more often. We've wanted to see them serving on the same team, fighting side by side, supporting one another, and reminding us why they're one of Marvel's most compelling duos.

Well...

Marvel has given us exactly that.

Now it's our turn.

If we truly want more stories featuring our favorite Weather Witch and the ole Canucklehead, then we have to support the books that give us those stories. That means pre-ordering Maximum X-Men, picking it up from our local comic shops, talking about it online, and showing Marvel that there's an enthusiastic audience eager to see Storm and Wolverine back together on an X-Men team.

This isn't just a book for RoLo fans.

It's a book for Storm fans.

It's a book for Wolverine fans.

It's a book for X-Men fans.

So let's rally behind this series and give Marvel every reason to keep these two incredible characters front and center in the X-Men line and, perhaps even more importantly for us RoLo'ers, fighting side by side as teammates.

You all know Maximum X-Men #1 is going straight onto my pull list.

I've been incredibly excited about Marvel's Wolverine ever since it was announced. Like, over-the-top excited.

Every trailer. Every gameplay reveal. Every new detail has only made me more excited for September. Insomniac has absolutely nailed Logan's look, his attitude, and the brutal feel of being Wolverine. Until now, I honestly haven't had many concerns.

But this latest reveal is the first time my excitement has cooled... and I mean, really cooled.

If the reports are accurate and Jean Grey is being positioned as Logan's primary love interest, I have to admit... I'm disappointed.

And before anyone jumps to conclusions, this isn't about me being a RoLo fan. Which I absolutely am. But that's not what this is about.

It's about Logan.

A while back I wrote about how frustrating it is to see Wolverine constantly regress into the role of the proverbial third wheel. After all these years, it feels like we're once again circling back to the same tired love triangle and the same worn-out emotional beats instead of allowing Logan to grow as a character.

For over fifty years, Wolverine has evolved in countless ways. He's been a mentor, a teacher, a leader, an Avenger, a father figure, and one of Marvel's most layered heroes. Yet when it comes to his love life, it often feels like we hit the reset button and go right back to the same dynamic.

At some point, I'd just like to see something different. I mean, let the grown-ass man finally grow up. Stop resetting him to the same emotional place every time there's a new adaptation.

That doesn't necessarily mean Logan has to end up with Storm in every version. It doesn't mean he has to end up with anyone.

It simply means I'd like to see his relationships move forward instead of constantly revisiting the same old, worn-out ground. We've all been there with him. At some point, it's okay to let this relationship go and tell a new story.

One of the things I've always appreciated about Logan is that, despite his rough exterior, he's capable of tremendous emotional growth. He's learned to trust people. He's learned to lead. He's learned to love. Those are some of the most compelling parts of his journey.

So seeing him seemingly dropped back into the same old romantic status quo is honestly disappointing.

Maybe the game will surprise me. Maybe there's far more nuance here than we've seen, and maybe the story will justify these choices in ways we don't expect.

I genuinely hope that's the case.

Because I still think Marvel's Wolverine looks phenomenal, and I'll absolutely be playing it on day one. But the excitement and joy I felt have definitely dimmed. And that's disappointing.

I just can't help feeling that, after decades of telling Logan's story, there were so many fresh directions they could have explored.

Like I said, yes... I ship RoLo. But before I became a RoLo shipper, I was a Wolverine fan and a Storm fan. I love them both as individual characters just as much as I love them as a couple. And I will always advocate for them to be portrayed in a way that truly honors their incredible legacy as characters.

So as a Wolverine fan first and foremost, I was hoping for something new.
