the cask of amontillado becoming a meme is actually incredibly fucking bizarre and out of left field but like. the only other current meme is killer clowns so i donāt know why i ever pretend like i know where meme culture will take us
This is just to say
I have eaten
the spiders that were in my cave
and which you were probably counting for statistical purposes
Forgive me I am an outlier adn should not have been counted
āAverage poem parodied three times a yearā factoid is actually statistical error. Average poem is parodied 0 times a year. This is Just To Say by William Carlos Williams, which is not a metaphor for Platoās cave and is parodied over 10,000 times each day, is an outlier and should not have been counted.
Iām not sure when this bottom bit here got added but it really is the best addition to my post Iāve ever seen.
anything bad: *happens* internet atheists: ah yes. this is due to Religion
when i get a runny nose
This is honestly so relatable and Iām going to need everyone else to step it up a notch

Human screentime of Disney PoC characters in 3 of the last 6 PoC-lead WDAS films
*sips her tea*
Thatās what I said
Itās funny how thereās still āpee-oh-seeā (let that phrase fucking die) characters in Disney movies who ARE HUMAN FOR LITERALLY THE ENTIRE FILM
But hey, you wanna know who else wasnāt human for the majority of their movie?
CAPTAIN WHITEBOY MCFURRY HERE

ITāS NOT RACIST.
GET OVER IT.
GO OUTSIDE.
I find this especially funny since literally every character in the emperorās new groove is the same race as kuzko
Pro-life Master Post
I donāt know about you, but Iām tired of repeating myself when it comes to debates about abortion. Iāve created this master post to provide links that refute the most common pro-choice arguments.
But the fetus isnāt even a life. Itās a clump of cells. It doesnāt matter.
3 reasons why a fetus is a human being
Straight from the embryology textbook:
A zygote [fertilized egg] is the beginning of a new human being. Human development begins at fertilization, the process during which a male gamete ⦠unites with a female gamete or oocyte ⦠to form a single cell called a zygote. This highly specialized, totipotent cell marks the beginning of each of us as a unique individual.
Even more proof that life begins at fertilization
What is the unborn?
Okay, itās a human, but itās not a person.
The shockingly bloody history of legal personhood
From Personhood:
A criterion for personhood that depends on certain functions of human activity implies that individuals who perform the chosen function more excellently should have higher human value. Individuals suffering from severe Alzheimerās disease or under general anesthesia, who may not be self-aware or able to create future expectations, could no longer be considered persons. We know, however, that the human under general anesthesia retains his personal identity despite his temporary lack of self-awareness, so his personhood must cohere in his underlying nature.Ā Legally speaking, āpersonsā are guaranteed the fundamental rights of individuals, including the right to life. Historically, abuses of personhood have led to the genocide of groups deemed ānon-personsā by more powerful political or social groups. For example, up until the 14th Amendment, African-American slaves were legally considered three-fifths of a person. Native Americans were exploited because they were treated as less than full persons. The racial distinctions used to label these groups as ānon-personsā were conveniently invented to justify the violation of human rights.
Justifications for abortion are inherently ableist
What makes human valuable?
But itās basically just a parasite!
Why the embryo or fetus is not a parasite
Youāre just against it because youāre (religious, Republican, conservative, etc.), but Iām not (religious, Republican, conservative, etc.).

Well, if youāre against abortion, why arenāt you against [insert other human rights injustice]?
We are against all forms of aggressive violence. That includes, but is not limited to: unjust war, abortion, euthanasia, slavery, torture, rape, embryonic stem cell research, human trafficking, abuse, sexism, racism, police brutality, suicide, etc.
Check out organizations like Life Matters JournalĀ (read the most recent issue here!)and Consistent Life to find out more about this consistent approach to human rights issues.
That being said, not every pro-life organization is against all of the above. Dismissing their arguments against abortion because they happen to not be against some other form of injustice is an ad hominem fallacy.
Why ad hominem fallacies derail conversations
If youāre gonna be against abortion, you better be doing [insert some charitable action].
This is similar to the previous argument. Dismissing someoneās argument because you feel that they arenātĀ ādoing enoughā is another ad hominem fallacy.Ā
That being said, pro-life organizations do a whole lot to support those in need:
Catholic Charities USA (which is obviously against abortion) is #13 on the Forbes list of the 50 largest US charities.
Pregnant on Campus supports pregnant or parenting students and provides them with resources.
Abortion Recovery helps men and women who have been affected by abortion.
Project Rachel also helps post-abortive women.
Option Line provides free counseling for pregnant women.
Pregnancy resource centers provide free ultrasounds, pregnancy tests, STI screening, parenting classes, and material assistance.
Pro-life organizations also assist in the adoption process.
You canāt be a feminist if youāre pro-life! Being pro-life is anti-woman.
Thatās a straw man argument. Straw men make for poor arguments.
Besides, try to tell that to our feminist foremothers who were anti-abortion.
And finally, the most popular pro-choice argument:
My body, my choice!
Why āItās my body, I can do what I want!ā wonāt do
De Facto Guardian and Abortion
Why pregnancy is not comparable to forced organ donation
Again, you canāt compare pregnancy and forced organ donation
Dismantling the ābodily rightsā argument without using the responsibility argument
From secularprolifeprofamily:
When you realize why the political pro-life/pro-choice divide truly exists, the whole ābodily autonomyā argument falls apart. At its core, itās not merely about protecting fetuses or not. Itās about whether abortion should be a legally sanctioned medical procedure. And the right to bodily autonomy doesnāt guarantee any sort of medical procedure no matter what.In most jurisdictions, no practitioner will legally give breast implants to an underage girl. Surgeons refuse to amputate the limbs of BIID sufferers. Are those infringements upon bodily autonomy? Of course not. Nobody is fundamentally entitled to procedures that may be irresponsible or unethical.
The False Strength of the āBodily Autonomyā Argument for Abortion

I canāt wait until white people are not on top anymore
Asians have surpassed white people in living standards so the wait is over.
āLiving standardsā š
āLiving standardsā = $$$$$
Asians are the highest paid demographic in the US.
But white privilege still runs rampant even after that, which goes to show whites are still on top
Nope. Privilege comes directly from $$$$.
If you know what you want and work hard enough for it, youāll succeed.
Richest woman in the US: Black Most powerful person in the US: Black Highest paid actor in the US: Black Highest paid athlete in the US: Black
Privilege is kind of like luck. Itās what you make of it.
Also, races should no be competing with each other. Who cares what color it is of the people supposedly āon topā? That mindset is reserved for racists.

The Racist Origin of Circus Clowns
@redbloodedamerica How do people come up with this shit? And I always thought Jesters were the forst clowns⦠Well, I didnāt learn diddly squat today!
Well, he is correct that minstrel shows were performed by white performers in black face, but they were actually quite popular well before the Civil War. Ā During Reconstruction, vaudeville shows became more popular and any shows in the early 20th Century were probably traveling shows and or Broadway-type acts in the big cities. Ā There is no doubt black face performances happened and yes, it appears to be obviously quite racist even for that time although Iāve read from different places that some black southerns watched the shows with the same interest as whites. Ā Even George Washington attended the circus and their performances where minstrel or at least clown acts may have taken place.
However, modern looking clowns have been a part of western culture far before that time. Ā They originated from classic 17th Century European pantomime, Shakespearean and zanni characters - PierrotĀ and Harlequin being two of the most historically famous examples. Ā
They have been a part of operas in Italy, England, and France prior to Civil War.Ā Pagliacci was a famous Italian opera starring a clown right around the end of Reconstruction. Ā Youāll notice the getup and look is similar to modern clown costumes typically depicted by whiteface clowns and inspired by Pierrot.
Even the image this guy above points to as an example of clowns imitating black face is that of a classic Depression era hobo clown, far after the post-Civil War era. Ā The makeup is meant to resemble an exaggerated five oāclock shadow of a vagabond for viewers in the stands to easily recognize along with their other embellished clothing; not to depict poor destitute blacks after the Civil War. Ā Itās similarity to minstrel blackface is purely coincidental by this point and actually may be credited to a fool āaugusteā clown played by Tom Belling in Circus Renz, in Germany also prior to the Civil War.
The hobo clown picture here is Emmett Kelly who made this look famous during the Depression. Ā Prior to that he chose the common whiteface style makeup as shown on the clown to his right. Ā Whiteface clown makeup was also brought from European circuses, and possibly was popularized by a European performer named Joseph GrimaldiĀ at the turn of the 19th Century.
Needless to say, although minstrel acts did exist well into the early 20th century, the hobo clown, and the circus clown in general, had nothing to do with black face characters in minstrels other than a similar style of makeup pattern.
Something also left out above is the fact that black entertainers actually performed with McIntyre and Heath in their minstrel shows. Ā History revisionists just tend to leave out inconvenient details like that to suit their narrative of āwhite supremacy.ā
Not completely sure, but isnāt the red rubber nose and bright red frizzy wig meant to be part of depicting an Irish stereotype? Thatās what Iāve heard but Iām not 100% sure (but either way, no, it has nothing to do with blackface).

I canāt believe how many bitchasses are crying in the notes on this post just because this girl whoās undocumented dared to excel
YAAAAS QUEEN
People on social media were so outraged by this post that they actually reported her to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and filed complaints to the CVS she worked at (x)(x). Luckily, she has a deportation deferral from DACA, so it does not seem like she is at risk of being deported. However, she is receiving all sorts of online threats and had to deactivate her Twitter account. She said, ā I didnāt think it would [get so much attention] tbh and itās kinda scary and I want it to stop.ā Just another clear example of hatred against Latinos and immigrants.
i donāt think they would have called immigration on a Canadian immigrant who posted this. so i donāt think theĀ āandā is appropriate. this happened because sheās a Latinx immigrant.
You right.
But... Why would you post āHey, Iām breaking the lawā on social media and expect no one to call it out...
