lilâ dramione fluff thing
for my beloved friend @colubrina
Hermione wanted to roll onto her stomach so badly, but the pain and the scars with their potential of opening up wouldnât let her.
Her favourite music played softly in the background - Caro Emerald was not the most soothing of choices, but soothing wasnât what she needed. On the contrary, she needed as many reminders of her strong and healthy body, of energy and life that she would regain once more in only just a few days of rest if her muggle doctors were to be trusted.
They were not trusted by Draco, though.
âI still donât understand why you wouldnât go to St. Mungoâs instead,â He murmured, fluffing her eiderdown.
âI told you why, intrusive surgery is best done by professionals. I donât particularly believe in the precision of spells in such a delicate matter,â Hermione responded.
âYouâre a witch!â He said.
âYes, and thatâs exactly why I know how unpredictable magic can be. Now would you stop fussing, please?â
He rolled his eyes and perched on the edge of the bed.
âDo you need anything?â Draco asked affectionately tucking Hermioneâs hair behind her ear. It did nothing, for the hair sprung back out after he took away his hand, but she nuzzled into the touch nonetheless.
âJust my boo. I think itâs on theâŚâ
âCoffee table in the lounge, be right back,â Draco nodded and leaped out of the room, returning three seconds later winded but looking mighty pleased.
She giggled.
âYou are so adorable, mother hen,â She teased.
He rolled his eyes again, but she could see the tiny smile tugging his lips upwards.
She opened the book and started to read immediately, but her husbandâs gentle stare broke her concentration.
âWhat?â She asked, as softly s she could, lowering the novel.
âYou want some tea?â He offered, âMother sent a very good herbal painkiller this morning, she had it mixed specially for you.â
Hermione looked at him closely. He was worried, she knew, but the surgery was routine, if unpleasant. He looked wired like he was ready to jump out of the window at her request and gallop away on any possible errand.
Adorable. Big scary Mr. Malfoy.
âAll right, some tea would be nice,â She smiled.
HE returned her expression and went to the kitchen.
She began to read again, lowering a hand from the bed, cooing softly for Crookshanks.
A gentle âwreoowâ sounded from under the bed and Crooksâ squishy face appeared at the edge of her vision.
âHey, little friend,â Hermione said, giving him her palm,
The cat put her wet little nose to her fingers and jumped up onto the bed, at once curling up next to her knees, starting up into a loud purring.
She started to read again and felt herself relax. She heard Draco clattering about in the kitchen, the songs changing in the lounge, Crookshanks purring away like a little engine. A bird chirruped in the bushes under her window, the smell of rose bushes wafting in through tâs cracked frame.
âTea, milady,â Draco said, walking into the room with a little silver tray of treats.
Hermione put the book down and palmed the soft fur on Crooksâ upturned belly.Â
âOh, are those macarons?â She asked, excited.
âIndeed they are,â Draco nodded, placing the tray on the bedside table and pouring the tea, âYour favourite flavour with a little twist.â
âIs the twist the fact theyâre shaped like cats?â Hermione giggled.
âYes,â Draco said, blushing ever so slightly.
âYou are so cute, Draco,â She said, touching his forearm.
He looked at her and instead of his usual huff and retreat from such a compliment looked deep into her tired eyes and laced his fingers through hers.
âI belong to you,â He said softly after a moment.
She squeezed his hand and he knew what she wanted to say, her eloquence betraying her like always at his sincerity.
He kept looking at her until the cup of tea he prepared levitated slowly between them.
âFine, fine, Iâll drink the tea,â She sighed and took it.
He grinned and touched a soft, pink paw Crookshanks outstretched towards them.
âGood girl.â
