After a long day of celebrating at the Guild after their win at the grand magic games Natsu decided it was about that time to head home. He paid Mira for his last shot of fire whiskey then downed it. Alcohol didn’t do much to him he just liked the taste. Still he doubted that he’d be able to take Cana in a drinking contest. The card holder mage had been drinking since they got back and she’s barely now looking like she’s getting a little buzzed. Natsu sometimes seriously wonders what her gut is made of. Before he went home though his first stop was at Lisanna’s place were he would drop off his blue flying companion for the night. When that was done he began his trek to his home just outside magnolia in the forest. He was about halfway there when he heard a commotion not far in front of him. He sped up his walk a bit so he can make sure no one is being hurt. But what made him run was when he heard a scream. He practically put fire under his feet to make him go faster because he recognized exactly who that was. “Hold on Levy! I’m Coming!” His dragonslayer nose was able to smell her scent and the scents of a few others that he didn’t recognize.

“Well I didn’t help matter forgetting to set an alarm.” She teases right back giving him a peck on the lips before getting dressed in a cute pink dress. She gathers her bag and the book from the library so they can bring it and is soon ready to go. The innkeeper serves them some lunch when they go down and soon they’re off towards the cave. The mayors wife having given them a map
Natsu gets dressed too wearing his usual vest and scarf but this time instead putting on some green cargo pants and boots. There’s a very real possibility he might have to fight those elementals today so he was dressing for battle. He takes his backpack with supplies in it including a communication lacrama for each of them just in case they have to separate for whatever reason. They down lunch pretty quickly then set off towards the caves. The caves are about an hour and a half journey just outside the city. “I can see why they’d be worried about the elementals if they’re agitated. I mean they’re not really that far away from the city. The way the mayor‘s wife talked about how strong they were, they probably could do some major damage if they decided to come into the city for whatever reason.”
Levy nods her head in agreement. “Yeah they could easily level part or all of the city if they’re as powerful as she said.” She replies. Soon they come to a large cliff face near the shoreline. “Oh! We’re getting close. The map says to follow the shoreline for a bit and we’ll come to the caves.”
After another twenty minutes they come to an area where the cliffface breaks and inside is a large area where it continues to encircle a large meadow like area. All along the cliff are cave entrances.
When they get to the spot with all the cave entrances Natsu’s guard goes up. “ keep your guard up Levy. I don’t know if any of these are the caves we are looking for but stay close ok.” Natsu is using all his enhanced senses and so far doesn’t hear or smell anything out of the ordinary. “OK so if I remember right we were told by the mayor‘s wife that the caves we’re looking for will have symbols near the entrances right?” So far none of the ones they’ve come across have any symbols near the entrances.
Levy nods in agreement. Something in her gut is telling her they’re in the right place. She steps into the clearing that the cliff and caves surround and suddenly the entrances light up. Symbols appear around the entrances of several of the caves. Fires burst forth from small divots in the ground like candles to guide the way. “Wow! I think the symbols only approach when people enter the area.” She suggests
He watches as they got closer the caves entrances started lighting up with symbols. though he couldn’t help but focus on the Fire coming out of the divots in the ground. It didn’t seem like normal Fire it almost seemed… alive. His eyes widened when he saw one of the divots in the ground near Levy. He quickly put himself between his girlfriend and the Fire as it began coming out of the ground in pillars of pure Fire focusing into two points as the elementals formed. They were bigger than the biggest forest Vulcan he’s ever seen and made of pure flames. They both roared at Levy and Natsu “Woah they weren’t kidding these things look dangerous.” He can see how they can overpower a group of even experienced mages. “Levy… I’m gonna keep their attention on me. You get started on the symbols… I’ll call if I need help ok.” He was serious now. These things look ferocious. But something was still off about them. The aura and feeling thes flames are emitting almost feel familiar.
Levy nods, hurrying over towards the entrance to the biggest cave and starts working on translating. The fire elementals try to approach her. Though surprisingly they don’t appear to be hostile towards her
When they try to approach her Natsu puts himself between them and her But he doesn’t make any hostile movements. not yet. “Woah there big guys… she means you no harm.” He notices that their attention seems to be on her book bag. “Levy… they’re focused on your book bag, show them the book… Maybe they need to know that we’re not just another bunch of bandits.” he keeps his guard up but still makes no hostile movements. the two elementals are watching them intently.
Levy nods quickly and takes out the book showing it to them. They seem to perk up at the sight of the book. “We’ve been waiting quite a while for someone to show up with that book.” One of the elementals says, shocking levy so much she nearly drops the book.
When natsu hears one of them talking he too was shocked. he doesn’t remember the mayor or his wife saying anything about them speaking. “so I’m guessing you guys at one time used to let anyone who is curious come and look at the caves until you were attacked by that dark guild right?” The elementals nodded. “I can promise you guys we don’t mean any harm. That book.” He points to the book in Levy’s hands. “That book talks about my father. But to read the rest of it, it told us to come here.
The two elementals looked at each other for a moment then turned back to natsu and Levy. “you were able to open the book?” One said. “And read it?” The other said. “Which one of you were able to read the text in the book?”
“That would be me…” natsu point to himself.
“If this child was able to read the book that must mean...” the other elemental continues. “That must mean you are a descendent of the mighty Igneel… it’s time.” Before he’s able to ask what they mean by its time they began combining into one large entity. A loud roar fills the forest. one that natsu instantly recognizes as a dragons roar.
‘That is a Dragons roar! Levy stay close to me!” Suddenly wings of fire formed in the flames and the body of a dragon followed. It was huge just like Atlas flame. “Uncle Atlas?”
“You must have me confused with my brother. I am the mighty Phoenix Flame! True Guardian Of what lies in these caves!” Natsu is completely surprised. He did not at all think he would be meeting a dragon today. All he can hope is that it’s not hostile though he did say that his brother was Atlas flame.
“So that’s why anyone who came here with bad intentions didn’t stand a chance. They were basically fighting two halves of a dragon…” now it makes sense to natsu why the mayor‘s wife who is a very advanced and powerful water mage stood no chance. Back in crocus when the dragons attacked Gray and Juvia doing a unison raid against atlas flame didn’t even  put a dent in him.
Levy watches all of this in complete shock. “Natsu, atlas flame was the dragon you met in sun village wasn’t he?”
Phoenix Flame lowers his head to look at Levy more closely when it notices her necklace made from Igneel’s scale. “Ah you must be his mate.”
Levy blushes bright red but nods her head a bit meekly. “I’m his girlfriend. How could you tell?”
“That scale. One only gives away their scales to their chosen mate.”
Natsu nods. “Yeah, he’s also the same dragon helped me defeat future rogue and that dragon motherglare when the dragons attacked. But he said that him and Igneel were like brothers so that’s why I called him uncle.”
Phoenix Flame couldn’t help but laugh at Natsu’s explanation of why he called atlas flame uncle. “Oh I bet my brother found that unusual. He was always the more serious one. Had it been anyone else he probably would’ve burned them to a crisp for calling him that.” He chuckles. Natsu laughing with him.
“I gotta ask… why have you been guarding the caves as two elementals and not in your dragon form?” Even though Natsu was curious he wanted to see if the reason was the same as what he thought.
 “Well the only reason why I was disguised as the elementals was simple… Acnologia.” It was just as natsu guessed. it was probably so he didn’t attract the black dragons attention. “I show myself now because now that you’re here son of Igneel I can fulfill the duty that was set for me by your father.” he pointed to the caves in front of Levy. “Inside is a gift left for you by your father. But before you can claim it you must prove yourself worthy.”
“Worthy? How do I do that?” Natsu asked.
“Well first you and your mate must venture into the caves unlocking its secrets which will also unlock the rest of the book. only a true heir to the fire dragon king can unlock these secrets.
 
Levy stiffens at the mention of Acnologia. She still remembers the unbridled terror of facing him that day on Tenrou island. It was horrifying. She can understand why the dragon wanted to hide from him.
“I guess we have to explore the cave and figure out how to translate more of the book. Between youre ability to read draconian and my ability to translate things we shouldn’t have any problems with it.” She says with a beaming smile. She’s so excited for him that he’s going to find something left to him by his father. She knows how important Igneel is to him.
Natsu nodded moving to be right by his girlfriends side taking her hand in his and lacing their fingers together. “I’m all fired up! And with my awesome beautiful and smart girlfriend by my side we’ll make short work of that cave you just wait and see!” natsu said excitedly as his free hand was covered in flames.
Phoenix flame chuckled. ”it’s not hard to see that you are indeed igneels son. that spirit and vigor … reminds me so much of him. But don’t just say you’re gonna do it young one show me! Both of you make Igneel proud!” The dragon smirks and watches as Natsu gets excited and heads into the cave. Before Levy can follow phoenix flame stops her. ”Please watch over the son of Igneel if he’s anything like his father recklessness is in the genes. I can see it in you… you’ll be a fine queen of the Fire dragons someday. now go I will wait for you here and guard the exit.” he bowed his head before splitting back into the elementals probably so he doesn’t attract too much attention especially the attention of Acnologia.
Levy moves to follow him with gusto but stops when Phoenix Flame speaks to her. She can’t help but laugh at their words. “Oh reckless is definitely one way to describe him. But then again you could say that of every mage in Fairy Tail. Don’t worry I’ll keep him from doing anything too stupid I promise.”
She pauses at Phoenix flame mentioning she’d make a good queen of the fire dragons. She smiles softly at hearing that. “Honestly, so long as I get to stay by his side I don’t care about being a Queen. Just being near him is enough.”
“I could tell you two share a special bond. One that seems unbreakable. Igneel would be proud. Now go, he’ll need you if he is to complete the quest set forth for him.” suddenly there was a loud crash from inside the cave Natsu had accidentally activated one of the traps a big rock nearly crushing him.
“I’m fine don’t worry it missed me!” he comically yelled from inside the cave.
Phoenix flame face palms. “Yep that’s Igneels son all right… you better get in there or else you’re gonna have a pancake for mate.” The dragon sighed.

Levy nods, hurrying over towards the entrance to the biggest cave and starts working on translating. The fire elementals try to approach her. Though surprisingly they don’t appear to be hostile towards her
When they try to approach her Natsu puts himself between them and her But he doesn’t make any hostile movements. not yet. “Woah there big guys… she means you no harm.” He notices that their attention seems to be on her book bag. “Levy… they’re focused on your book bag, show them the book… Maybe they need to know that we’re not just another bunch of bandits.” he keeps his guard up but still makes no hostile movements. the two elementals are watching them intently.
Levy nods quickly and takes out the book showing it to them. They seem to perk up at the sight of the book. “We’ve been waiting quite a while for someone to show up with that book.” One of the elementals says, shocking levy so much she nearly drops the book.
When natsu hears one of them talking he too was shocked. he doesn’t remember the mayor or his wife saying anything about them speaking. “so I’m guessing you guys at one time used to let anyone who is curious come and look at the caves until you were attacked by that dark guild right?” The elementals nodded. “I can promise you guys we don’t mean any harm. That book.” He points to the book in Levy’s hands. “That book talks about my father. But to read the rest of it, it told us to come here.
The two elementals looked at each other for a moment then turned back to natsu and Levy. “you were able to open the book?” One said. “And read it?” The other said. “Which one of you were able to read the text in the book?”
“That would be me…” natsu point to himself.
“If this child was able to read the book that must mean...” the other elemental continues. “That must mean you are a descendent of the mighty Igneel… it’s time.” Before he’s able to ask what they mean by its time they began combining into one large entity. A loud roar fills the forest. one that natsu instantly recognizes as a dragons roar.
‘That is a Dragons roar! Levy stay close to me!” Suddenly wings of fire formed in the flames and the body of a dragon followed. It was huge just like Atlas flame. “Uncle Atlas?”
“You must have me confused with my brother. I am the mighty Phoenix Flame! True Guardian Of what lies in these caves!” Natsu is completely surprised. He did not at all think he would be meeting a dragon today. All he can hope is that it’s not hostile though he did say that his brother was Atlas flame.
“So that’s why anyone who came here with bad intentions didn’t stand a chance. They were basically fighting two halves of a dragon…” now it makes sense to natsu why the mayor‘s wife who is a very advanced and powerful water mage stood no chance. Back in crocus when the dragons attacked Gray and Juvia doing a unison raid against atlas flame didn’t even  put a dent in him.
Levy watches all of this in complete shock. “Natsu, atlas flame was the dragon you met in sun village wasn’t he?”
Phoenix Flame lowers his head to look at Levy more closely when it notices her necklace made from Igneel’s scale. “Ah you must be his mate.”
Levy blushes bright red but nods her head a bit meekly. “I’m his girlfriend. How could you tell?”
“That scale. One only gives away their scales to their chosen mate.”
Natsu nods. “Yeah, he’s also the same dragon helped me defeat future rogue and that dragon motherglare when the dragons attacked. But he said that him and Igneel were like brothers so that’s why I called him uncle.”
Phoenix Flame couldn’t help but laugh at Natsu’s explanation of why he called atlas flame uncle. “Oh I bet my brother found that unusual. He was always the more serious one. Had it been anyone else he probably would’ve burned them to a crisp for calling him that.” He chuckles. Natsu laughing with him.
“I gotta ask… why have you been guarding the caves as two elementals and not in your dragon form?” Even though Natsu was curious he wanted to see if the reason was the same as what he thought.
 “Well the only reason why I was disguised as the elementals was simple… Acnologia.” It was just as natsu guessed. it was probably so he didn’t attract the black dragons attention. “I show myself now because now that you’re here son of Igneel I can fulfill the duty that was set for me by your father.” he pointed to the caves in front of Levy. “Inside is a gift left for you by your father. But before you can claim it you must prove yourself worthy.”
“Worthy? How do I do that?” Natsu asked.
“Well first you and your mate must venture into the caves unlocking its secrets which will also unlock the rest of the book. only a true heir to the fire dragon king can unlock these secrets.

After a long day of celebrating at the Guild after their win at the grand magic games Natsu decided it was about that time to head home. He paid Mira for his last shot of fire whiskey then downed it. Alcohol didn’t do much to him he just liked the taste. Still he doubted that he’d be able to take Cana in a drinking contest. The card holder mage had been drinking since they got back and she’s barely now looking like she’s getting a little buzzed. Natsu sometimes seriously wonders what her gut is made of. Before he went home though his first stop was at Lisanna’s place were he would drop off his blue flying companion for the night. When that was done he began his trek to his home just outside magnolia in the forest. He was about halfway there when he heard a commotion not far in front of him. He sped up his walk a bit so he can make sure no one is being hurt. But what made him run was when he heard a scream. He practically put fire under his feet to make him go faster because he recognized exactly who that was. “Hold on Levy! I’m Coming!” His dragonslayer nose was able to smell her scent and the scents of a few others that he didn’t recognize.

She gathers her bag and the book from the library so they can bring it and is soon ready to go. The innkeeper serves them some lunch when they go down and soon they’re off towards the cave. The mayors wife having given them a map
Natsu gets dressed too wearing his usual vest and scarf but this time instead putting on some green cargo pants and boots. There’s a very real possibility he might have to fight those elementals today so he was dressing for battle. He takes his backpack with supplies in it including a communication lacrama for each of them just in case they have to separate for whatever reason. They down lunch pretty quickly then set off towards the caves. The caves are about an hour and a half journey just outside the city. “I can see why they’d be worried about the elementals if they’re agitated. I mean they’re not really that far away from the city. The way the mayor‘s wife talked about how strong they were, they probably could do some major damage if they decided to come into the city for whatever reason.”
Levy nods her head in agreement. “Yeah they could easily level part or all of the city if they’re as powerful as she said.” She replies. Soon they come to a large cliff face near the shoreline. “Oh! We’re getting close. The map says to follow the shoreline for a bit and we’ll come to the caves.”
After another twenty minutes they come to an area where the cliffface breaks and inside is a large area where it continues to encircle a large meadow like area. All along the cliff are cave entrances.
When they get to the spot with all the cave entrances Natsu’s guard goes up. “ keep your guard up Levy. I don’t know if any of these are the caves we are looking for but stay close ok.” Natsu is using all his enhanced senses and so far doesn’t hear or smell anything out of the ordinary. “OK so if I remember right we were told by the mayor‘s wife that the caves we’re looking for will have symbols near the entrances right?” So far none of the ones they’ve come across have any symbols near the entrances.
Levy nods in agreement. Something in her gut is telling her they’re in the right place. She steps into the clearing that the cliff and caves surround and suddenly the entrances light up. Symbols appear around the entrances of several of the caves. Fires burst forth from small divots in the ground like candles to guide the way. “Wow! I think the symbols only approach when people enter the area.” She suggests
