For many days, I have wanted to write some reflections about my long journey to the UK. I arrived here on 17/07/2024, and now I have spent two years in this country.
I still remember my last night in Egypt before coming here. It was a night full of fear and tears. I wasn't sure if I would be able to survive here. And now, here I am, living far away from my family. During these two years, I have only seen them for about two months in total.
Has this affected my wellbeing? Definitely. I'm not feeling completely alright. I have very sad thoughts whenever I think about it. What effect will this leave on my soul for the rest of my life? I really don't know.
Do I want to go back to Egypt? I honestly can't imagine myself living there again. I don't think I would ever choose to go back. I don't feel that Egypt is a place where a person can live with dignity anymore.
I just hope I can live in peace, keep my Islamic manners, and raise my sons to be well-mannered and emotionally mature men. I hope the day comes when I finally feel satisfied and at peace. I don't have many wishes or desires in this life. All I ask is that Allah is pleased with me, that He keeps me on the right path until my last day, and that I am among those who enter Paradise.
