So ...
Again it has to be asked,
"What's up with Thai boys and music ?"
Can it be that there's a national blind spot when it comes to musical taste and skill ?
Is there an actual difference in this area between Korea and Thailand, with the latter hopelessly outgunned by the former as Thai TV shows deploy boy bands in the vain hope that no one will notice the deficit ?
In Rearrange, Mark Thanat (playing aspiring guitarist and singer Nut) can barely carry a tune, providing a convincing if unintended rationale for his father's disgust with Nut's pursuit of a career in music !
In fact, according to MDL, Mark "plays several instruments," having taken up the drums at age 7 and later learning guitar. Singing isn't mentioned--thankfully.
As l have asked before, fruitlessly,
Do BL directors all have the tin ear that the majority of their cast members seem to ?
To be fair, the curse may in fact be lifting; several shows this year have included respectable musical performances. But the problem persists.
I suppose, like intelligence itself, those who haven't got a given skill are by definition unable to recognize the lack thereof ?
Actually, Win (Flute Chinnapat), the very experienced other lead in Rearrange, sings creditably--assuming that's his voice--and I like the number that's repeated at the head of each episode: it grows nicely into a bouncy high. All is not lost ...?

The only flaw in Make it Right was that this angel bunny couldn't shed a tear in his starring finale (opposite "Tee"). And now, as a white rabbit (!), he tears up and drips at the first provocation. Good for him.

Oh--the subs are c. 30 seconds out of sync--just enough to totally screw up comprehension of the dialogue. I'm a third of the way through the 56-minute episode; I can't tell if the gap is narrowing, but it may be. Will the subs be synced at the end ?
EDIT: Yes, they were only c. 5 seconds off at the end. Very odd ...

I want to mention something l noticed from an early episode: this endearing series was graced, most unusually, with a wide-ranging assortment of background music, mostly subliminal in effect but clearly chosen with care. From Bach and Mozart (yes !) to "Daisy Bell (Bicycle Built for Two)", we heard selections attuned to the moment from all over the musical world. Perhaps this was inspired by the period setting and time frame ?
In any event, this entranced viewer appreciated the effort ...!
And
the costumes throughout the production deserve mention. Many tailored Western style mens's suits and jackets appear, as well as Siamese outfits equally fine. A restrained earth-toned palette prevails. I assume an ample budget was provided, based on the evidence.

As of Episode 4, I haven't seen this much brazen heat---suggestive dialog, basket-groping, self-pleasuring---in a SE Asian drama. God knows what's ahead. The acting of these young shirtless lookers is not up to par; is it inadequate coaching, or incompetent direction ? But the gist is clear and compelling, so all bets are off.

It has to be said, this one crosses the line, over and over. Yes the genre is stretching in the inevitable direction, reaching toward soft porn and maybe beyond ... but it still surprises when the next level is reached.
