The Last Day in a Fandom. Reflection, and the Fire.
So, Iāve had fun reblogging things, trying to promote what limited things I can about the biggest disgrace that Iāve seen in a mainstream anime in my life. But things just will have to move on. For me, the 16th of January was the end of my association and love for Inuyasha and its associated products and stories. Iāll never be able to shake off what they allowed to happen. Make no mistake, no matter what a Sessrinner or some other fool tells you, Sesshoumaru would have groomed Rin. Grooming is about forming consent with your victim through subtle methods of control and manipulation. Heās the only one in her life. She never had a chance. Rin, at the age of 8, was led down a path of control by this figure, who acted as her guardian and provided for her. Heās someone she idolized. He then passed her off to others, but even in doing so, appeared bringing gifts. He gave her aĀ āchoiceā. What choice would a 13 year old whose never known a different life, and never known really anyone but Sesshoumaru and Inuyashaās friends going to think? Thatās the manipulation.
The fact that the show made her between 13-14 when she consummated this vile thing is even more disgusting. HNY was targeted towards a lower demographic than the original, and more specifically targeted girls. This show is not only hypocritical, itās also saying some forms of grooming are good, Ie, if the girl is receptive, and some forms of grooming bad, namely if the groomer is ugly, orĀ āmeanā.
This show is a DISGRACE.Ā Please review the show in areas that you can. Please provide feedback to Viz, and other official sources, both in their customer service links, and on twitter in particular. This show, and franchise, has become a weaponĀ against common decency, and sadly against a generation of young girls who it would see be its victims. Itās also become a mechanism for people who self-inserted as Rin when they were younger, to feel validated, and has attracted other darkerĀ elements to this fandom as well, creating an even greater chance for exploitation.
Sunrise should be ashamed, but these people are clearly shameless.
When it comes to this show, and to the people involved, and the studio, I say let it burn. Let this thing be done, let the studio be left with a cancelled show, because this show should not be allowed for its distribution. Even the merchandise teases Child-Rin, and often Child-Rin with Sesshomaru. Whatever is left of this franchiseās dignity died with The Final Act. Give it the dignity of a funeral pyre.
