@leninova1997 i mean obviously, but i meant in the official games themselves and the perspective of id when they design a new game

"this new Doom will be like this"

"let's see which demons we can easily bring back and which may have to change or be dropped entirely"

or in some cases, they probably change demons' roles just for the sake of novelty

and then there's the part of when a new type is needed or could be added just for fun

the Arch-vile for example started as a resurrector demon but in his 3 modern iterations (D3, Eternal, Revelations) he's a summoner, while in 2016 we got a demon named Summoner to essentially represent the Archie

Mancs used to shoot 2 fireballs at once but later iterations stopped doing that except TDA a bit

Revs eventually got jetpacks/flying abilities and their rockets, even if locked on, aren't able to play a game of tag with the player (even if it depends on the level design/structure and the player's speed maybe)

former humans no longer drop guns, mainly because in modern Doom, almost any enemy can be a source of resources based on how you interact with them

in general, the rosters of each game always differs, specially with factors of returning demons, their changes and new demons

it's why it's fun to think of scenarios where you try to make a Summoner and Arch-vile coexist or think of variations of the same demon as like subspecies of a group or "same class, different types" or something
