Art Dump

To get back into drawing back in like? May?? (April.) I offered to do some light drawings for free in the server. The first one is Jun, the OC of ShAcKmO, while the second is Listelle, the OC of Kierax. It was nice to make something soft and pastel, and I’d heard a lot about Tony’s characters from just reading in the server, so it was nice to make something of one of them. I’m actually super embarrassed that I got Listelle’s outfit pretty wrong...but such is the problem with drawing based on a zoomed out mmo refs. Little did I realise that Kie actually have her separate tabs for outfits refs that would have helped me a ton ;; I really don’t check tabs often, I forget that they’re a thing on th tbh

I’m behind in uploading the art I’ve made since...April? Geez. Part of it is just cos I’ve been underway for a lot of it, but also I just haven’t been online much when I’ve been home.

Our next event in the server was making little character eggs! We only submitted one and voted on them tournament-style, but I made a whole set cos they were fun. Going middle -> left -> clockwise, the eggs are Raziel, Yesac, Marie, Gameo, Levin, Plus and Demon. It was very fun to essentially make lineless aesthetic icons for my OCs )))

The themes for Raz’s were cake (his main magic), a book (because of the one inside of him), and cuts/scars (because of the ones all over his arms and the big one in his abdomen). For Yesac it was just sunny days, his red scarf, and the emblem for the RDK that I never use lol Marie’s was based on death/her reaper, water and the moon. Gameo’s was twisted love, blue roses and the night sky. Levin’s was purely his visual aesthetic cos I felt guilty that most of mine were heavily symbolism-based and I thought I might be going too far afield of what the intentions were ;; Similar for Demon’s and Plus’s, though the cross for Plus’s was supposed to represent how his armor shatters and is cast off when he takes this form. Speaking of, that’s the one I submitted! We were supposed to have a reveal image for after the winner was chosen, so I sketched up Plus quick-like cos I didn’t have any actual art of him like this (I just do pencil doodles of it a lot). Mostly cos it’s incredibly spoiler-heavy and I tend to stay away from that stuff lol

The concept of it is, eventually Plus kinda breaks down over the fact that Data going around saving people in his own way from the game is slowly breaking the game’s coding, which is going to ruin it for the people who’ve decided to use it as a safe haven. He turns his back on the team and decides to fight them to save the game by preventing them from breaking it further. In so doing, he gives himself the power of the in-game monsters to be able to fight them (his monster arm) but also has a more tenuous grip on his own trauma, which causes it to morph more and more out of his own control (his deformed arm).

I made it back home in time to participate in the newest event in the server, which boiled down to “have your OCs pranking each other, wearing something silly, in an unrealistic scenario, in a ridiculous expression or in a meme.”

Like most people, I was lazy and just went for using a meme lol For being lazy I put too much effort into this though ;; I didn’t want to bother typing everything up and trying to make that look nice, so I ripped the text from another one that looked right (most people replaced the Tokyo-Tohoku part in the upper-right, so I generally looked at that and the quote) and then didn’t realise until the end that hey...the upper-left doesn’t place them in Shibuya Station, it has them in Yokosuka lmao Fine by me since I’ve lived there, but GHC is nationless so I was originally going for the default.

Push & Pull

Aka “I wish you would give me that one final push” vs “I just want to pull you in close”

I love the moody ship...but it’s also the quiet moment where I realised that Glitch is, at it’s most allegorical, a story about depression and suicide lolsob The original plan was for Data to save everyone, but it’s written for a game format, essentially, and expecting people to play perfectly, ehhh...and the potential for drama in allowing you to keep playing after letting people essentially die was too great for me to (hypothetically) pass up, so it ended up instead being you could lose against up to a certain number of bosses before the emotional strain of it makes Data quit playing. Then it evolved from there to some battles being expected for the player to lose to advance character plots...

But the thing I really wanted to gush about was!! My favourite plot for this ship is an AU where Data actually manages to save everyone up until the final battle, where he ends up actually losing Plus. I might now consider losing him the canon end and saving absolutely everyone the golden end, haha Sounds terrible for a ship, but consider: since no one else is trapped in the game and Data still has admin access, afterward he locks everyone else out, but keeps playing and making edits and patches to try and rehabilitate Plus on his own, while irl he moves out of his parents’ house and takes care of the comatose Plus on his own. Still melancholic and melodramatic but I love it ehe ///

I was gonna wait on more art people owe me, but it doesn’t look like it’ll be forthcoming soooo here’s some stuff I got over the holidays! Lots of Katya, she seemed to be immediately popular with folks once I opened the BELOVED cast up to the public lol

A fun lil batch this time! First one is Gameo art I started a long time ago, and dragged my feet on cos the original plan was to make it a clean solids piece. Back in hecking June Arty came up with an OC design where the dude had a mask of flowers, and there was a beautiful Jojo’s fanart I liked with ribbons in the bg (their art is lovely, please check them out), so I was inspired to draw Gameo like this. I remember at the time I was listening to a lot of Cocktail by Hysteric Blue, too...you know, because of sexy black blindfolds lmao What an eclectic mix, but I’m still satisfied with the end result.

I think I finished the next one a little earlier than the first, but it’s vertical, so the formatting works better in this order lol It’s Miyoko, the OC of Chosho, for an art trade in a discord server (not ATU, rip ATU). Uh, I still suck at abs and boobs, so it was decent practice, but it still feels off to me in a way I can’t put my finger on :/

Decided to just ignore local colors of my own volition this time, but partly because I already struggle with my art being low-contrast without the palettes already starting out that way ;;;

Slightly better than doodles? Oddly enough when I added BELOVED to my art priority tag people immediately wanted to draw Katya, the one character with only two drawings by me that don’t really show off her design...so sure, I doodled up a kidlet ref so people can see her dumb greaves lol

But then also!! Today I got a jacket that is both a kinda ugly color but also super comfy, so I was thinking of what you’d wear with it to make it not look so bad? And wanted to put Levin in it, and I haven’t successfully managed to draw the gang together yet, even in doodles...so I gave it a shot. At first they were just having popsicles in the snow but then I got a hankering for papico, so they got to eat that cold snack outside in the cold instead )) Debating actually shading it/adding a real bg, but just in case I don’t, I wanted to upload it.

I had time today to do a doodle for myself. Hopefully this is a good omen for being able to draw more in the future? I’ve had ideas for actual drawings that I just haven’t had the time/energy to get to lately ;;
