I love the moody ship...but it’s also the quiet moment where I realised that Glitch is, at it’s most allegorical, a story about depression and suicide lolsob The original plan was for Data to save everyone, but it’s written for a game format, essentially, and expecting people to play perfectly, ehhh...and the potential for drama in allowing you to keep playing after letting people essentially die was too great for me to (hypothetically) pass up, so it ended up instead being you could lose against up to a certain number of bosses before the emotional strain of it makes Data quit playing. Then it evolved from there to some battles being expected for the player to lose to advance character plots...

But the thing I really wanted to gush about was!! My favourite plot for this ship is an AU where Data actually manages to save everyone up until the final battle, where he ends up actually losing Plus. I might now consider losing him the canon end and saving absolutely everyone the golden end, haha Sounds terrible for a ship, but consider: since no one else is trapped in the game and Data still has admin access, afterward he locks everyone else out, but keeps playing and making edits and patches to try and rehabilitate Plus on his own, while irl he moves out of his parents’ house and takes care of the comatose Plus on his own. Still melancholic and melodramatic but I love it ehe ///
