When a person goes to work at a job they’ve been doing for years and their new boss tells them they’ve decided to change some things there are three ways to handle the situation when you disagree: accept it and move on, calmly explain why you disagree with the changes and try to find a solution that works for everyone, or scream and curse out your new boss for coming in and changing the way you’ve been doing things for years. I tend to go with the first option, but will choose the second one if the changes are drastic enough. Very few people choose option 3 and those that do usually end up getting fired. You can’t just curse and scream at your boss because you’re boss has power over you. Your boss has every right to change how things are done if they think there’s a more productive way to do things. They’re literally just doing their job. In order for you to keep yours, you must show them respect regardless of your personal feelings towards them. If you don’t you will either be fired or your boss will make your life a living hell. You’ll end up doing all the grunt work that no one else wants to do. By disrespecting your boss you are making your job harder on yourself then it needs to be. When your parents tell you they don’t want you going out because the weather is bad, how do you handle it? The same outcomes from above apply here as well. If you scream and curse out your parents chances are you’re going to get grounded, and if you have parents who actually discipline you (which is unlikely if you actually think cursing out your parents is okay) then you’ll end up getting a lot more than just a grounding. Why do we have to respect our parents and employers? That’s because there is a hierarchy in our society. Parents, employers, teachers, cops, the VP, the President, and any vets who put their lives on the line to protect you and your rights are all people higher up on the chain then you. Those people don’t need to earn your respect, you need to earn theirs. Every one of those people can make your life worse if you decide to disrespect them. When someone has power over you it’s your job to stay on their good side to better your life. If you disrespect your parents you get grounded and (in some cases) spanked. If you disrespect your teacher, or any teacher/administrator at your school, you get detentions, suspensions, and in severe cases you get expelled. If you disrespect a cop you either go to jail or nowadays you just get shot. When dealing with police officers you are literally putting your life at risk by disrespecting them. If you disrespect your boss, you end up losing your job. When you disrespect our nations President/VP you are giving them a reason to hate you. Why would you want the guys in charge of our nation to hate the people they are supposed to be protecting? Our current President-Elect has shown time and time again that he is spiteful, so by constantly booing him, cursing at him, harassing him, making fun of him, calling for his assassination, and demanding he be taken out of office before he’s even been inaugurated you’re doing nothing but pissing him off. People like Trump don’t just walk away because other people want them to. If Trump wants to be President he will make sure it happens and when he does get inaugurated he will do everything he can to get back at those disrespectful people. Have you thought about what that could mean for our country? Everyone is so scared that he’s going to follow through on his campaign promises since that’s what he said. As a Trump supporter, I never thought he would do half of the what he said. It was pretty clear to me that most of what he said was just to stir up hardworking, white Americans. He knew the concerns those people have and used that knowledge to get their votes. Only now we have people rioting in the streets saying “F*** Trump”, among other things, pissing him off to no end. How does he get back at those people? Maybe by following through on some of his promises. Maybe he ends up making laws saying that you will be jailed for burning our flag and not showing him respect. Before you know it we’ll be a dictatorship and all those freedoms that you’re scared you’re going to lose will actually be gone. It’s called a self-fulfilling prophecy. I understand that people are scared and they have every right to be but the people rioting in the streets are doing more harm to your cause than good. The people who voted Trump see the reaction his win caused and they are more proud of their vote then ever. The rioters and flag burners are making the rest of you look bad just like the actual racist a**holes who voted Trump make the rest of us look bad. I know all Democrats are not bad. I was raised in a democratic family in a very blue state. I also know that most people who voted Trump are actually good people who voted for him despite the hateful things he said for various reasons. I've seen countless people saying that there were riots after Obama was elected and Republicans never showed respect for him. Those things are unfortunately true. I also saw countless people (most were the same people) who said that since Bush deleted emails and no one said anything that it was okay that Hillary did it. Problem with that is that a lot of Trump supporters hated Bush, myself included. Had I known about it at the time my opinion would have been the same as it is now, but I was young then and didn't care about politics so I didn't know about it until this election. Both of those statements bring the same thought to mind: since they did and got away with it that makes it okay? With that logic I should be able to say that since OJ got away with murder I should be able to as well. Since Casey Anthony got away with killing her kid I guess I can do that too. Do you see the problem there? One persons bad deeds doesn't give you a free pass to do it as well. Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton always say "when they go low, we go high" but how is anyone going high? Democrats and Republicans have always hated each other and both side believes their side is better. So why lower yourself to the other sides level? Republicans were disrespectful to Obama so now you have the opportunity to be better than them! Prove once and for all that Democrats are the better side! Solidify those future votes in your favor by showing the world the right way to act. In 10 years how will all of this look? If Trump becomes President despite the protests and petitions then in 10 years we'll look back and all anyone will see was the crazy Democrats rioting because they didn't get their way. The reason for these "protests" will be forgotten (unless they end up being right but at that point Dems will say they knew it and everyone else will say they caused it) and all that will be remembered is the destruction they caused. If Trump does start trying to actively take away our rights, through laws not words, then go ahead and protest! I'll even join you! Until then why not show the world that you are better than the "racist, bigot, xenophobic, sexist" (I'm sure I forgot one or two words there) Republicans. But hey, that's just how I see it.
