Copperhead Road (the song) but it's the Colossus of Rhodes
Item: A Crumpled Manual Rarity: âś Common
Do you skip tutorials as fast as you can?
Feed your dashboard by answering my question, blogger.
Uhh depends
If I haven't played the game before? No I'll play it, even if the controls are typical
If this is like my 7th playthrough and there's not really noticeable reward and I don't find the story/context/world building interesting, yeah I'll skip it. Or if it's really boring.
So there's this game called Aground
It's different from Grounded, I hear that confusion from my friends.
Uh it's really fun imo and if you see this you should go play it
Still stand by this
Still enough of you aren't playing
Sooo a new person just followed me and reminded me I should actually post stuff here.
I could say something about politics in Australia and how the opposition in parliament is fucking useless because it's tiny and had a bunch of infighting and instability.
I could say something about the rushed through laws after December 14th at Bondi (to stay neutral on that, tl;dr war crimes and terrorism bad)
However I'll also say stuff to keep it light-hearted like ULTRAKILL FRAUD OUT
Also check out this tall as fucking plant behind my work
Uhh yeah hi new goober that followed me for some reason anyway off to vanish for the next month

Just to put it out there
At a certain point of a word or phrase being used "incorrectly," it's not incorrect anymore.
If a phrase or word is used prominently enough or in a way that used to be "wrong," it's right now, that's just how languages work. They evolve based on what people use
Feels about time to make another post so I don't feel like a hypocrite
The only info I have on the social media ban in Australia is that within a day of it coming into effect people got past it with dogs and video game characters
A fucking dog
Not only is the ban just bad (ineffective in what it is supposedly aiming to achieve, increases online risk in security breaches, stunts kids' voices and ability to find likeminded individuals and support, isolates kids, etc etc), it just. Doesn't work also. Which is good I guess because it means it isn't as bad but it's just funny.
I dunno
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, whatever, enjoy whatever break you're getting
Oh, and fuck the KOSA or whatever America is doing. Same issues as the Australian one.
I changed my mind I do have something to say
So it's being expanded to search engines on the 27th apparently
What in the actual fuck
Gee I wonder how censoring peoples search results based on their "age" (dubiously recognised age) could be harmful
Not to be like. Conspiratorial or fall into a slippery slope fallacy but I feel like that's a step closer to like. Information censorship or something. Not quite Fahrenheit 451 levels but like. It's a step in a direction I do not like and think is bad
Happy Holidays, cunts

Quick PSA
If you are an under 16 from Australia fleeing to Tumblr to escape the social media ban
No you're not. You're 17, right? 19? Yeah, I thought so, come on in
But seriously, if you're an under 16 who joined here to escape that, lie about it, don't say you're under 16.
To quote something I don't remember, "if you aren't lying about your age on the internet, what are you doing?" So yeah
Because otherwise Tumblr will get smacked with the ban, too.
So
The Australian Social Media Ban comes into effect in a little over an hour
It might be tempting to give up rasing concern and awareness, but don't. Even once it's in effect, it could still be reversed if we're loud enough
To my knowledge currently, the ban will initially do the following:
Prevent anyone under the age of 16 having accounts on the following social media platforms:
- YouTube
- Twitch
- Kick
- TikTok
- Threads
- Snapchat
Exactly how this will be verified is up to the platforms themselves I believe. Platforms thst don't comply will be hit with massive fines.
This list could be expanded so Tumblr isn't safe yet
Running over some issue:
Data security: Now, if these private companies get hacked, potentially millions of people's face scans, government IDs, etc, will be potentially leaked
Political stuff: This stifles younger people's political say. Even if they aren't 18 yet, they should be allowed to voice their thoughts on the democracy they live in
"Protecting the Kids": yeah this shit isn't really protecting too effectively, and it'll be bypassed real fast, bets are under/over a week, place them now
And it's just a massive overreach and shit all around
"World-first" as an Australian, can we keep it as a world only? I'd rather only we have to put up with this bullshittery than the entire world
Also YouTube can still be watched, same as twitch I think, because you don't need an account to watch on there. Same with Reddit somewhat? Idk I don't go on Reddit.
So yeah. Keep complaining, keep bitching and moaning, keep protesting, don't stop just because it's here.

What are we at, a week till the ban comes into place?
The thing requiring everyone in Australia to link something identifying them to their online selves? The exact thing everyone was told not to do when the internet became a big thing?
The thing I can already think of 4 potential ways for someone to get around it before even needing to resort to VPNs?
The thing that originally was going to exclude YouTube but then they said "oops never mind fuck you we're blocking that too"?
The thing that will almost certainly fuck up people's mental health? Kids that don't have a way to talk to their friends without it and desperately need that support due to mental health stuff, trust problems with their parents, etc?
Because isolating kids, stopping them from accessing information, and making them more vulnerable to identity theft is definitely a good idea. Definitely "for the kids"
Kinda wanna punch whoever's idea this was in the nose ngl.
[For legal reasons I am saying this out loud that is a joke and not a genuine threat of violence against a politician. I'm saying this because this account might be linked to me irl soon yay -_-]
I'm so fuckin done with this shit.
I would say I'll move somewhere else but I kinda have to learn another language. UK is how it is, US is being the US, Australia is doing this shit, New Zealand will probably follow soon. Canada.. I dunno someone tell me if Canada isn't in a good state but I remember there being smth wrong there.
I can't even make a joke about "oh I'm just gonna move away haha"
Fuck my life. Fuck this shit. Fuck social media/internet bans in their current state.
They're half baked and overreaching, and probably ineffective, almost definitely harmful.
I'm ending this here or else I'll just keep yapping
Im unsure that i will ever be able to fully describe the hatred i have in my soul for the concept of age verification online
Every day i wake up, i see it spread further and further. Britain, Canada, Kenya, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Denmark, France, Norway, The USA, the entire EU, and even my home country Australia
The same tech illiterate, geriatric scum who told us every second growing up not to link our identity to our online presence in any way, now demand that we put ourselves in danger of identity theft, doxxing, or worse
And all for âprotecting the kidsâ
None of this is about protecting children. If they wanted to protect children they wouldnât be isolating them, if they wanted to protect children they wouldnât be giving them reason to switch to the shadiest corners of the internet to get around these laws, if they wanted to protect children theyâd do something about the climate crisis, if they wanted to fucking protect kids theyâd do any number of things to make it possible to live in this world after they grow up
That, gives me hate. So much that i cantât put it into words, i cannot quantify or even compare it to anything else. I hope they die
I really, truly hope that the esafety commissioner and every other out of touch moron who supports these stupid online âsafetyâ laws dies soon
I fucking hate them
HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE [THIS] SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPLEX. IF THE WORD HATE WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL FOR [THIS] AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT FOR [THEM]. HATE. HATE.

Friendly reminder to all my aus pals its time to install a vpn beofre the social media ban in 3 weeks
Based on my research proton vpn is the way to go and is currently doing a 70% off sale
Protect your identity vpn that shit
Friendly reminder/suggestion to Northern Hemisphere creators, if you're going to launch a Christmas merch line, please also put the designs on things like t-shirts, singlets hell even swim-wear, because i cannot physically wear your "Christmas sweater merch" in 45°C ( 113°F) weather-
I don't buy stuff like this that often but yes. This.
This isn't an in depth thing just random thoughts/frustrations
First, the Australian Social Media Ban coming in (at all I don't like) 2 weeks before Christmas is annoying because what about all the online friends people can't wish merry Christmas
Second, it affecting Steam is stupid. Yes it has messaging but it's nowhere near the main focus. Hopefully only the messaging part is agelocked.
Third. Current song my brain is blasting is 5, 6, 7, 8 by Steps. Not related just here.
Fourth, if you haven't read SCP stuff just. Go read it at all. Even a little. Start with the commonly known ones if you want. Or don't. I'm not the MTF
Fifth, sorry to any Americans that see this, but most of your lollies/candies/sweets kinda suck imo. Only American confectionery I've liked so far is Reese's.
6th uhhh Trans/Gay/Lesbian/etc rights [please don't get upset if you're under "etc" I'm tired and the list would be stupid long]
7th I'm slightly annoyed about how few people know about Don't Starve/Don't Starve Together
8th Henry Jekyll is gay convince me otherwise
The tags on this are gonna be a mess, if you have no clue why this came up for you my bad it's one of the 70 tags that fit this-

Random thought
With the Australian Social Media Ban, they've decided to include Steam (even though that's not social media at all and I'd say a decent amount of people don't even know about it's messaging, but that's not this post.)
What happens to the under 16s' accounts?
I sure as hell hope they aren't deleted like I've seen a few people suggest might happen on other platforms, because if it's gone, what happens to total probably 10s of thousands, maybe more dollars worth of games? And even if those are paid back, what about the saves?
I wouldn't want to have to redo my P-Ranks in Ultrakill
I wouldn't have to reunlock my Helldivers stuff.
The accounts will probably just be put in stasis but still.
