The Last Show We Played.

And by far, it was the best damn show I’ve put on.

What timing it was too, for the day after the bar closed due to COVID-19. I played alongside another female lead singer named Tanya and her band Failing Up, and another all male group called Static Age, both of which I could see playing Warped Tour on a shared stage with. Unfortunately, Give You Nothing GAVE US NOTHING(lol) and didn’t make the show because the drummer’s family doc said corona virus made it too dangerous to travel, so Domino and the Derelicts had to go on first.

Along with all the album songs, we played 2 new songs called “I Am Fire” and “Stay”, which we nailed, so the 3 and a half hour practice the night before didn’t go to waste. Also, people that donated to our now delayed Portland trip got to see where their money was going. 

I remember performing as a 2 piece at the Caravan when my drummer Bill and I first started out, and in recent years we’ve gained not only band members/skills but a decently huge following, to the point where at recent shows the line was too big to get in. I know waiting to make it big will pay off, just gotta get through this quarantine improving with each day that comes.

Well, I did have this long beautiful post about my dreams n goals n shit, but technology has shouted my age and I write to you now off the dome, high as fuck here in Stockton CA, enjoying this quarantine. Now, it might piss people off to know that I’m ENJOYING myself, but please know it’s making light out of a dark ass situation. SO!

My name is Domino (yes like the movie, the game and the pizza, I’m turning 30 on April 10th and like you maybe I had the biggest of plans which were cancelled by none other than! *dramatic drumroll* THE CORONA VIRUS...

I’m the lead singer/songwriter in s band called Domino and the Derelicts, and after the 2018 album “Laugh It Off!” we were about to head up to Portland LAST WEEKEND, but the week before the curfew time was getting earlier and earlier until we knew we were fucked.

In all honesty? I feel like it’s 1 of 2 things:

A) A sign that I should stop, or 

B) A sign that I should keep going, lol.

The Derelicts are hopefully heading to Portland on the RESCHEDULED date of June 27th, and by that time there are quite a few things I want to have accomplished since we’re in lockdown and pretty much have nothing but time:

PERFECT MYSELF

Meaning, for the next 12 weeks, get into a mental, spiritual and physical peak state to perform the way I know I can. This means I’m quitting smoking cigarettes (only had 1 today and as many butts as I could find lol), developing an exercise routine, which will lead to not only performance quality, but for the simple fact of fitting into my old fucking clothes again, and of course, practicing my bloody ass off in order to sound legit. 

I had set up a fundraiser and actually made all of the money to make this trip happen- purely on community support, and...

CORONA VAHRUS!

Lol. But so many things happened besides that, almost as if predicting it should’ve came naturally...my aunt dying, my cousin in a catatonic state, friends getting kicked out of their places/falling on hard times...I feel blessed with what I have, a free apartment for life because I’m a veteran, and since I don’t have my daughter with me (we’re tight my mom takes care of her and we all get along), I let friends who need help get on their feet, and have ALWAYS simply appreciated the fact that they let me take care of them and feel human. Hence, I have 2 friends at my place currently house sitting, while I enjoy the quarantine with my boyfriends’ fam here in Stockton. And we FINALLY got a charger for this lovely new laptop I’m on, so enjoy is not to far off a word.
