why is it. that we as a community treat simon and grace so differently when it comes to how their drawn and written

Why is simon so insanely muscular and dominating and ryland is a twig and submissive. These are the same fucking image, no? do we not have eyes?

these are two muscular men. we know that ryland is muscular book or movie because they go out of their way to SHOW US that he is!

we are assigning dynamics based on appearancessssss.

Because that's how the COI treats him. Scary, threatening, very dark and broody.

And wouldn't it be way more romantic for Simon to instead of being portrayed as strong and dangerous to feel comfortable enough to be truly vulnerable and submissive to another person.

Yall need to stop seeing angry or violent characters as dominant when them being violent aka "dominant" is them FIGHTING FOR THEIR OWN AUTONOMY AND FREEDOM WHICH THEY WONT HAVE TO DO IF THEYRE WITH SOMEONE WHO LETS THEM HAVE THAT FREEDOM

And I think that is what makes the difference in their dynamic specifically.

While I do see Simon as someone who prefers being on top and has to do things on his own terms, he needs someone to guide him. To reassure him that he's safe. Aka Grace. Who'd allow him to finally take without having to worry about anything else.
