but a part of me, alongside my other friends here this side of the pond do hold out in the hopes of winning because if we don't, the rise of domestic violence rates (and the surge in racism which has already started tonight) is just ridiculous. the moment England lost that game, two official news outlets and some on twitter especially, posted domestic violence hotlines for women 🫠

and then there's the racism aspect, especially with the increase of support with a specific political party (I.e I think it was the euros 2020 where Saka, one of the black footballer players who was v young, received an insane amount of racism for losing the penalties). some British people here, will treat the England team as British if they win and acknowledge a celebration but if they lose that their "immigrants who need to go back home/aren't British because they aren't white."

(this doesn't even cover the possibility of more edl riots like last time in 2024 as a result of losing 🕴️)
