a final message from us, as i'm sure people have been wondering where we went.
this blog is no longer active and will be discontinued. forever. some of us fell out of fandom and stopped reading, others stopped because of the dream allegations.
but either way, especially because of what's looking likely for at least george currently, this is the official farewell from us, even if he's proven innocent.
please support victims, and take care of and love one another. do not condemn blindly, but also make sure you aren't invalidating what is the truth. treat yourselves kindly, and allow that same kindness and grace to other people as well.

I just realised there are only 4k public dnf fics on ao3 and the rest are privatedm. Last year there were 20k public fics - y'all have any idea what happened?
really? i dunno, honestly. people fall out of fandom. i imagine the allegations were a huge point in most of it.

Do u know the name of the fic where George pretends heâs Dreamâs boyfriend to Simon (and it ends up blowing up in his face?)
String Me Along (one more time) by BirbWatcher
George doesnât think itâs the worst lie in the world when his hairdresser assumes that Dream is his boyfriend. It canât hurt to go along with it, right? Heâs had a crush on Dream forever anyway, so whatâs the worst that can happen?

Against all odds, the first thing George notices is the air. Thick, humid. Hot. It was raining in London just a second ago. This doesnât feel like rain air.

âI canât believe you answered a question about being in love, idiot.â Dream twists George's chain around his fingers.
George reaches up, placing a hand against Dreamâs face and tracing over where his stubble transitions into smooth skin. Dream leans into the touch, helpless as George grins at him.
âIt was funny,â George rubs circles against the side of Dreamâs jaw with his thumb. âAnd I didnât want to say no.â
âJust the, uh, just the thing you did during-â
âDuring âSpotlightâ?â Dream interrupts him. George nods quietly, eyes darting toward the blankets.Â
He misses the worry that begins to etch its lines into Dreamâs expression.
=======
George is nervous.
Not for himself, no.
For the mop of dirty blond hair thatâs bouncing weirdly in time with an incessantly bouncing leg.
Dreamâs knee is working overtime on the cement pavement, and George briefly considers what to do in the event of a sprained ankle live on stage.
He hasnât seen Dream this nervous since⊠ever. Not even during the blondâs face reveal, where the nerves had been cushioned by Georgeâs wonderful arrival into the country.
âIâm worried,â Dream mumbles, stilling and glancing over at him. George holds his gaze and nods quietly, too anxious for him to crack a joke.
âI can tell.â
Itâs not a reassurance, so George doesnât know why heâs even surprised when Dreamâs leg starts bouncing again. He leans forward.
âHey, itâs gonna be alright,â George whispers quietly, moving in front of Dream. He kneels down and puts a hand on the blondâs thigh. âBesides, they already love you anyway. Those people out there are probably the last ones to criticize you if you even mess up.â
His words get him the reaction he wants this time. Dream huffs out a quiet laugh, body visibly relaxing against Georgeâs touch.
âThanks,â the blond whispers, leaning forward.
Their foreheads touch.
The warmth settles the nerves under Georgeâs skin into a tranquil silence.
---
Dream is stiff when he walks onto the stage. George purses his lips, watching nervously from the side. Unwelcome thoughts, worst-case scenarios fill his head, and for a second George panics for Dream, escape routes unclear in his head.
But theyâre soon drowned out by the loudest of screams, and George grins and cheers with the rest of the crowd.
Dream meets his eye and beams. He stumbles toward his side of the stage, clumsy and excited, and Georgeâs worries fade away into fondness. His heart skips a beat, this time from the flush on his face and the warmth blooming in his chest.
Dream relaxes with every song he sings, and Georgeâs shoulders loosen in tandem with his growing excitement.
Georgeâs heart is a different story.
It seems to have mistaken the concert for a gymnastics competition, leaping into newly discovered heights every time Dream throws a subtle grin up at him.
Itâs not obvious, but it definitely catches Georgeâs attention, and for a good few minutes he wonders if anyone would catch Dreamâs little lovestruck expressions.
(If he would care if anyone saw.)
His face adorns an almost-permanent blush, hidden only by the shadows casted by the dimly-lit venue. But he canât bring himself to look away, with his own, impossibly wide grin rooting him in place, keeping his eyes on the blond.
Idiot, George thinks fondly.
âSpotlightâ comes on, and Georgeâs heart stops in its tracks.
Because Dreamâs looking up at him, head tilted up, eyes sparkling brighter than the lights above him. Everyone is watching him, but heâs looking only at George. And there are people looking up from the crowd and gaping at him, but George finds that he doesnât give a shit what they think.
He laughs quietly and lifts his hand in a small wave, giggling as the blondâs grin widens. It only lasts for a second, but George spends an entire lifetime under his golden-eyed stare.
---
Dreamâs singing is captivating, both to George and the rest of the crowd, and by the time itâs his turn to show up on stage, the nerves are nowhere to be found.
They had written their song for laughs, but the energy from the crowd is so infectious George ends up putting his entire effort into the song.
When it ends, George is drained beyond belief, but leftover adrenaline keeps the stupid grin staying on his face. Heâs glued to Dreamâs side the entire way home. Dream drapes an arm over his shoulder and holds him close.
The afterparty is small and relaxing, with just a few friends and beers in the living room. Patches celebrates her unusually large number of treats quietly on her cat bed. When their friends leave and they retreat to their room for the night, George feels a pair of arms wrapping around his waist.
He turns around to find Dream smiling at him, and George leans back into the blond.
âHey,â Dream chuckles quietly, and George smiles.
âHey.â Itâs all George can say before Dream drags him onto the bed. They land on the mattress with a grunt and George squirms, still locked in Dreamâs arms, laughing at the awkward position.
They settle on top of the blankets, facing each other.
âThe concert went so well,â Dream starts, his features taking on an excited expression. âIt was awesome.â
âYeah, it was,â George laughs quietly. âMy song was the best performance.â
âYeah, yeah.â
They fall into a comfortable silence, one that leaves enough time for Georgeâs mind to wander. The way Dream had stared at him flashes through his brain, and a flush blooms on his cheeks.
âWhat?â Dream asks, leaning forward. âWhat are you thinking about?â George flushes lightly and shrugs.
âYou know,â he starts. âJust the, uh, just the thing you did during-â
âDuring âSpotlightâ?â Dream interrupts him. George nods quietly, eyes darting toward the blankets.Â
He misses the worry that begins to etch its lines into Dreamâs expression.
âWas it-was it because I made it obvious?â
The hesitant tone sends George whipping his head back toward the blond.
âWhat-no, no!â He sputters. âIâm not upset about it, i-idiot.â He huffs when Dream visibly relaxes, melting back against the sheets.
âI just remembered it and it was-it was nice, thatâs all,â George whispers quietly.
âSo youâre okay with it? With, uh, with everyone seeing it?â
George nods, smiling hesitantly. Then Dream launches himself at him. He barely has time to let out a squeak that would be embarrassing if Sapnap was around to hear it, before heâs flattened against the mattress.
The struggle ends with Dream on top of him, not that George minds. The blondâs cheeks are red and his grin is so wide George canât help but huff out a resigned laugh himself.
âI love you,â Dream laughs quietly. The words send flowers blooming in his chest, and George leans up, pressing his lips against Dreamâs.
Itâs more of a peck, with gravity working against his will before heâs forced to flop back down onto the bed, but Dream simply chuckles and leans down, reconnecting their lips for the second time.
This time, they stay that way for longer, gentle and intimate, before they pull apart. George stares up at him, and lets himself get lost in the gold.
George remembers everything. Dream remembers nothing. And yet, he's already falling for George again, swooning with his newly-blossoming crush. It isn't easy for George, knowing what he does, but he decides to be patient.
When Dream wants him, heâll be there, already deeply, deeply in love.
"Home Again"
c!dnf, Rated M, 3.5k words
Excerpt:
Dream takes him on a date. Itâs not the first date, not even the second or third, especially when counting those first âdatesâ they never called dates, even if thatâs what they were. But this date feels different. Dreamâs prepared them a picnic and picked out a secret spot he says is perfect for watching the sunset, but wonât tell George where it is.Â
Thatâs what makes it different: Dream is acting different, like heâs planning something. If theyâd been together longer, George would have guessed a proposal was in store, but as it is, he has no idea what to expect.
As always, he follows where Dream leads.
They take a long stroll through the birch forest with many a stop along the way to enjoy the small delights of natureâfrogs and moths, shelf fungus and little yellow flowersâthen they head up a winding mountain pathâlaughing at the gravity-defying goats munching on the dry, cliffside grassâuntil they make it to Dreamâs hilltop clearing just as the sun is starting to get low, the sky tinting gold on the horizon. Dream unfurls a blanket, and they sit to eat, enjoying the cold hand-pies Dream made with scraggly crust and thick filling. Dream slices the apples he brought along for George, drizzles honey over them for dessert. All the while the sun slowly descends, and when theyâre full, George lies down with his arms crossed behind his head, staring up at the sky.

900 words | george listening to spotlight for the first time

----
âDid you like it though?â Dream breathes.
âI loved it, you idiot,â George says, smiling happily. âYouâre such a simp,.â
----
George blinks, breathing heavily, butterflies flicking around in his stomach. Itâs not even, the way his chest rises and falls, but truly, what else could he do but stand there and struggle to breathe? Anyone would. If anything, heâs underreacting.Â
âDo you like it?â Dream asks, voice gentle and soft-spoken, like heâs scared.Â
God, does he ever.Â
Itâs a bit of a fever dream. Itâs January now, nearly one month since alcohol made their tongues loose and confessions slipped past their lips one after the other. Itâs been wonderful, of course, but now George is shaking.Â
I wanna put you in the spotlight
Turn off the cameras, now you're all mine
All mine.
All⊠mine. Mine.
âGeorge?â
âFuck,â George breathes.Â
Three miserable years he spent stuck in an unrequited love, but then he landed in Florida, suddenly wrapped in an immeasurable amount of love for the first time in the seven years he and Dream have been friends.Â
And now his head is spinning. Heâs shaking and sweating and holy shit Dream loves him.Â
He doesnât even need to say the three little words, because George knows. It goes without saying. But not without singing, because those lyrics say more than Dream ever has face-to-face.
âYou hate it,â Dream says, face falling.
âWh-â George starts, cutting himself off as his gaze turns from the audio file on the computer screen to Dreamâs sad golden eyes, staring up at him. âNo,â he says, but not even he believes himself.Â
He blinks and sighs and reaches up, gently cupping Dreamâs jaw. Dream shifts his chair to face George completely as George steps closer, brushing his thumbs across Dreamâs cheekbones.Â
âAm I the first one to hear this?â George murmurs.Â
âBesides the producers,â Dream says, âyeah. I wanted you to hear it before the others.â
Butterflies swarm in Georgeâs gut. Blue morpho butterflies with shades that match the hues that stained Georgeâs heart while he was stuck in London. Clouded yellow butterflies that compliment Dreamâs eyes in the same color George is restricted to seeing.Â
George smiles, tilting his head. âIs it about me?â he teases gently, running one hand through Dreamâs hair.Â
âWell, who else would it be about, idiot?â Dream asks, grinning widely. One finger taps against Georgeâs lower thigh before Dreamâs hand encases Georgeâs hip.Â
Georgeâs fingers card through Dreamâs hair, untangling small knots. Dream watches him carefully, gold watching brown, until they meet, and they both smile.Â
âDid you mean it?â George whispers.Â
Dream doesnât blink. âOf course I did,â he says. âIâd never lie to you, George.â
Oh, look in your eyes like woah, they always shine bright, I see the limelight, I can't describe that glow
Make you a superstar in my mind, my mind
I'll follow, anywhere you go
Watch the door when you get home, yelling, "No paparazzi"
A superstar in my bed
âYouâre so obsessed with me,â George says, cracking a small smile.
Dream only stares up at me with eyes full of genuine love, blinking slowly like cats do to say they love you. The butterflies flick in Georgeâs gut, and his gaze flicks down to Dreamâs lips.Â
âWhyâd you say it?â he asks.Â
âBecause,â Dream says. âI want you to feel as special with me as when Iâm in front of the camera. Only, itâs just as and weâre alone.â
George smirks. âAnd in your bed, apparently.â
Dream scoffs. âI had to.â
âAre you going to release it?â George asks.
Dream hums, gently taking the hand against his jaw in his own. He presses a kiss to the skin, looking up at George as he does. âProbably,â he mutters. âUnless you donât want me to.â
âI think you should,â George says gently.Â
Dream grins. âIâm not sure when I will.â
George brushes his hair from his eyes before leaning down to kiss between his eyes. âThatâs okay,â he says. âWeâll keep it to ourselves for now.â He smiles, and Dream looks like he melts.Â
There are no words exchanged, but they both move towards each other, and their lips meet eagerly. Prior to this, the two had only shared a few kisses, quick and little ones. This is real.Â
Dream stands, gently cradling Georgeâs jaw as hands slide down to rest on his waist. They push closer to each other despite having no room to do so, hands moving to touch and touch and touch. Georgeâs hands slide under Dreamâs sweater while Dreamâs get lost in Georgeâs hair, kissing him harder.
âDid you like it though?â Dream breathes as they pull apart, foreheads resting together.
âI loved it, you idiot,â George says, smiling happily. âYouâre such a simp.â
Dream huffs. âYou should hear some of my other songs.â
George doesnât give him anymore time to talk, quickly pressing their lips together again. âI love you too,â he whispers between kisses. Dream smiles against his lips.
The way Dream spoke about him in the song was like nothing heâd ever heard the blond say before that moment. He sang about George as if he was a Greek god, worthy of devotion and adoration. As if he hung the moon, orâbetter yetâwas the moon. The duration of the song had George feeling woozy and sick with butterflies. No one had ever, in his 26 years of existence, loved George in the way Dream does, let alone love him enough to write a song for him. A song like that, too. George is so, so in love.
Soulmates are rare. Only 15% of people are lucky enough to find theirs.
When George gets his visa and Dream finally gets to meet him, it doesn't go quite as they'd planned.

âHe gets touchy,â Sapnap says, but George understands itâs his way of answering his question.

âShit.â George caught the fork at the last second. His heart was racing, but he suspected it had more to do with the question than almost losing the utensil in boiling water. âWhatâd you say?â

âIt does when you keep refusing to take your test,â okay, maybe he does have a choice. âEspecially since Nick and I have been helping you study for months.â
George canât deny that, but admitting he secretly enjoys being driven around by his best friend is not an option.

Summary:
When a man comes to paint their house, he asks Dream if he can give his number to his single daughter. Dream, panicking, says the only thing he can in the moment--he's engaged.
George might think it was funny, except Dream doesn't say he's engaged to George. He says he's engaged to Sapnap. Why does this bother George so much?
George feels invisible. He wishes he could shake Dream awake and force him to look. Heâs been missing a lot of things.

Dream is definitely blind, George thinksânot for the first time, not for the lastâif a fifty-something year-old woman whoâs known them for literally thirty seconds has a better grasp of Georgeâs feelings than his best friend of ten years.
Heâs reminded, yet again, that thereâs not much he can do about it without jumping in head first while theyâre in a convenience store in the middle of nowhere, during a road trip that was supposed to be all about Sapnap.
He doesnât want to do that, if heâs being honest. It wouldnât be appropriate, and it could go very, very wrong.

maybe i'm falling for you.
5.1k words / dnf / jealousy, falling in love, etc. etc.
Dream taps on the picture of George from the Streamer Awards, only to realize that it is, in fact, not a picture. It is a short clip from a red carpet interview, where George is chewing gum and wearing a suit, has the biggest and most endearing fucking smile on his face, and has clearly gotten his hair cut in a way that makes Dream unable to look away from his phone.
The video loops, and then again, and then suddenly itâs five minutes later, and Dream is still standing in the middle of his stream room, stomach still rumbling, unable to look away from his phone. Heâs blushing, his cheeks an embarrassing shade of pink, and suddenly he wants very much to kiss George right on the mouth. With tongue.
Oh fuck.
âWhy donât you hug me anymore,â he asks, turning toward the blond. âYou never hug me anymore.â
Dream furrows his eyebrow.
âI-I thought you didnât want hugs from me,â he stutters.Â
=======
Dream doesnât know what to do.
He doesnât know what heâs feeling. Betrayal? Hurt, maybe? He looks down at his phone and scrunches his nose. A video of George and Karl hugging replays, silently mocking him.
The sharp pang of jealousy sends him flopping onto his bed. George has never let Dream hug him like that. Not after the first day George had arrived in Florida.
Memories of that day had been cemented in Dreamâs head. The way George had beamed the moment they had made eye contact, the way arms had squeezed around him as they had enveloped each other in a tight hug.
It had been all Dream had ever wanted, George in his arms. And once he had gotten a taste of it, he couldnât get enough.
But then George had pulled away. But it had been under the gaze of the camera, so Dream had chalked the rejection up to the existence of the stream. Then it happened off-camera, so Dream had assumed George had an aversion for affection. Christmas had arrived, and he had watched astonished as George wrapped his arms around Sapnap on stream.
Denial had come almost immediately in tow, so when the chance had come Dream had tried for a hug of his own. He had been greeted by a scrunched nose into the camera, and no reciprocation.
And now. Dream picks up his phone and stares at the arms around Karl.
He didnât know pixels could hurt so much.
Resignation sends tears pricking his eyes.
---
Itâs been days since George has had to fight off a hug. Not that heâs been counting.
Three hugless days had sent Georgeâs brain overthinking, worrying if he had done something wrong. But when he had hesitantly asked whether everything was alright, Dream had simply nodded his head with a soft smile.
Eight days have passed since then. Eleven days, total. George has yet to receive a hug.
He doesnât like it.
Dream is sitting on the couch when he comes down the stairs. George purses his lips. A plan forms in his brain. His feet bring him into the living room before he can change his mind. George flops down onto the couch, inches away from Dream, and sighs dramatically.
âIâm so tired,â he mumbles, watching as Dream sits up and furrows his eyebrows in worry.
âHonestly, I feel kind of stressed out,â George adds, for good measure. He slumps forward.
âYou alright?â Dream asks. A hand hovers over Georgeâs back, almost hesitant to touch him. Anticipation rushes through Georgeâs body, the almost-touch already burning him.
The hand moves away.
Disappointment hasnât felt this terrible in a while, George thinks, pouting slightly. He hides his face in his hands. Next to him, Dream shifts.
âWhat-whatâs wrong, George? Are you alright?â
The question draws a groan out of Georgeâs throat. Dreamâs noise of confusion is cut off when he looks back up, irritated.
âJust-just come here, idiot,â he hisses over the blush on his cheeks.
Dreamâs confused glance is almost infuriating. George huffs, throwing his arm up in frustration.
âWhy donât you hug me anymore,â he asks, turning toward the blond. âYou never hug me anymore.â
Dream furrows his eyebrow.
âI-I thought you didnât want hugs from me,â Dreamhe stutters. George gapes at him, astonished. âI, uh, thought you didnât like it when I hugged you.â
Dream looks away, flustered. George scrambles for words.
âI donât-â
Nervous rambles cut off his reassurance.
âI just-you hug Sapnap and Karl, but not me, and I donât know if Iâm just overthinking or, you know, if you-I donât know.â
Oh.
Panic and desperation to correct the blond sound the alarms in his brain, and George swivels toward Dream, eyes wide.
âI like when you hug me, just-just-â
I canât let my feelings show, he wants to say. The words get stuck in his throat. Dream looks up at him, cautious hope in his eyes.
âJust?â He prods quietly, and George gulps.
âIâm scared people will-will notice,â he manages, already dreading the inevitable request to clarify.
âNotice what?â
The way he immediately melts into every hug, only forcing himself to pull away when he remembers the prying eyes staring at them. The way he wants to lean in against Dream, pull him into his arms, and never let go.
Too many things, George nearly whispers.
âTheyâll notice that I like it when you hug me,â he says instead, praying it gets the message across.
It doesnât.
Dream shakes his head, hurt written over his face.
âBut-but youâre fine hugging other people?â He asks. George shakes his head hurriedly, panic overtaking him at the misunderstanding.
âNo, no, Dream, youâre getting it wrong,â he says, waving his hands frantically in the air. âItâs different with you.â
Dream stares at him.
âWhy?â
âBecause youâre different,â George hisses through his teeth, before he quiets down. âB-because youâre-you feel like home.â He looks away when Dream doesnât respond, dread gnawing at the edges of his heart. Dream shifts next to him, and he braces for rejection.
Arms wrap tightly around him instead, and shock quickly turns into elation. And this time, George lets himself melt into Dream.
He settles against the crook of Dreamâs neck, and smiles when the blond rests his chin on top of his head.
âYou feel like home, too,â Dream whispers quietly.
George gasps, heart stuttering when he feels a kiss pressed against the top of his head. Itâs a silent declaration, one that has George pulling him in even closer. Dream wheezes, the sound cut off by an oxygen-deprived choke, and tightens the hug.
âYou realize Iâm not gonna let myou push me away anymore, right?â Dream whispers. George giggles quietly.
