joe was leaving to go watch a game with his friends, he had offered you to go but you decided to let him have some time with friends without you there. you were lounging on the couch when he slipped on his shoes.
joe walks over to stand behind your spot on the couch and leans down for a kiss. "i’ll see you later. love you."
you lean your head back to return his kiss. "bye.. have fun."
he doesn’t realise straight away until he’s walking to the door. maybe you didn’t hear him? "love you!" he calls out.
he quickly turning back to your direction. "why aren’t you saying you love me back?" there was a little smile on his face as if he knew— or maybe just hoping— that it was some kind of joke.
"what do you mean? enjoy the game.. bye." you give a smile as if everything’s normal, turning to face him over your shoulder.
"say it back or im not leaving." one hand was on his hip in that sassy manner that you were used to.
"i don’t mind if you stay honey. but i want you to have fun.. so go." you turn your head straight again, looking back at the tv.
he walks back right behind you, one hand scoops your jaw to make you look up at him. "i love you. say it." he had a little smile on his face when he sees yours.
"say it!" he actually laughs this time but you weren’t sure if it was forced and he was actually annoyed.
"love you.." you say quietly and half-assed, holding back a laugh.
joe leans down and kisses you again before pulling away completely. "good enough for me. bye honey."

"oooh.. i like this.." he says lowly with a smirk on his face, hands going behind his back. he earns a scoff from you, "shut up.." though it sounded more like a laugh. "i wanna check if you know my height."
"what? i know your height, im not stupid." he says, eyes still closed.
"no, i mean to kiss me. kiss me joe."
he clears his throat softly, spreading his stance a little wider. "wait can i touch you?”
"okay.. didn’t need it anyway." joe says matter-of-factly.
he leans over slightly as he brings his hands to either sides of your head. he wasn’t touching you but they hovered right beside your cheeks. he leans down a little more as his hands move back to his sides again. you couldn’t help your smile when his lips accurately land on yours.
he hums against your lips, nodding proudly at himself. "mhm.."
you chuckle against him, hands moving to his shoulders before you pull back. "stupid challenge."

the phone is propped on the fire place, you were stood in frame and yell for joe to come into the living room. when he’s in frame too, you blurt out too quick for him to even notice. "think fast, i’m a random girl!" your arms are immediately around his neck as you pull him down to kiss you. it’s rushed and messy— kinda the point.
you notice that he was kissing you back, hands moving onto your hips. he even turned slightly so that the camera wasn’t catching your mouths. you pull back and gently hit his chest, "joe! why are you doing that?!"
"wh—" he looked beyond confused. "what am i supposed to do when you kiss me?"
"i didn’t kiss you. a random girl did."
"what on earth are you talking about." his eyebrows furrowed. "doin’ okay in that head of yours?"
you scoff and roll your eyes, but there’s a slight smile on your face. however, you quickly get rid of it and look at him seriously, "i told you that im a random girl. and you still kissed me, jerk."
"oh.." he laughs. "okay delete that. let me do it again."
"no. you’ve failed the test joe."
"what? no. restart that." he walks over to your phone and stops the recording. "hold on." he says quickly before running off. you stand in the middle of the room confused.
the video cuts and you’re both on camera again. "think fast, i’m a random girl!" you go to throw your arms around him again, trying to pull him closer. but he shoves you back— obviously not hard enough to actually send you anywhere— and quickly pulls something out of his pocket. a loud ringing hits your ear drums, hands clutching them as you flinch.
your eyes open to the sight of him aggressively blowing a whistle, face almost turning red as it stays between his lips. "joe! stop that!"
when the high pitched ringing stops, you laugh at him. "what the hell?" he stood there looking proud. "you’re such a loser, where’d you even find that?" you laugh again.
"i dunno.. just remembered seeing it.." he smiles.
"jesus christ.." you mutter as you walk to the phone, "such a little kid.."
making him think i planned a date
joe walks into the bedroom about ten minutes after you did. you were stood infront of the mirror in a beautiful dress— one of his favourites too— as you started doing some makeup.
he lets out a low whistle, "wow.. you never fail to amaze me babe." he walks over and stands behind you, leaning down to rest his chin on your shoulder as he watches you through the mirror. "what are you getting all dressed up for? you going out with your friends or something?"
your face falls, meeting his gaze through the mirror. "you forgot?" your voice is quiet.
joe straightens up, a soft furrow between his eye brows. "oh.. i’m sorry honey.. i don’t remember you telling me you were going out with them.. where are you all going?" he gives a soft smile in attempted to make you feel better.
"joey." your face was serious which made him chuckle softly, steeping back behind you again. "i’m sorry.. i must’ve just forgot you made plans.." he tries apologising.
"no… you made plans. with me. you really forgot about that?" you say, forcing a soft voice break. you turn around to face him, seeing his expression falter, eyebrows furrowing further as he looks at you with his big hazel eyes. you did feel bad.. but being chronically online brings too many ideas.
"wait.. what?" his hands go to your shoulders, thumbs rubbing softly. "what’re you talking about honey? when did we make plans?"
"last week. you told me that we could go to that new restaurant that opened up in town."
he shakes his head softly, "baby, i remember saying we should check it out.. but we didn’t make any official plans." that was true.
"no, you said we should check it out… then you said we could go thursday. and to dress up all nice." that was not true.
"but… but i don’t remember that? did i really say that honey?" he looked genuinely upset with himself.
you nod, "yeah.. can’t believe you forgot about it, joe."
"c’mere," he wraps his arms slowly around your shoulders to pull you into a hug. "i’m sorry.. i seriously don’t remember that. couldn’t even tell you what we ate last night, my heads so busy recently. i’m sorry baby. you look absolutely beautiful though.." he says, using his grip on your shoulders to pull you back from him, eyes trailing over you.
you give a little smile as you look up at him. "it’s okay.. i guess."
"hey.. don’t do that.." he chuckles softly, looking at you a moment longer before sighing. "should probably go to the studio tonight, but screw that. we’ll go get food, okay? keep getting ready—"
you laugh, cutting him off. "joey.. no, it’s oka—"
"nope. get ready and i’ll hop in for a quick shower, yeah?" he says, already stepping away from you.
"joe! no. it was a joke.. we didn’t make plans."
his face falls as he stares at you. but he quickly lets out a sigh, almost annoyed but mostly relieved. "thank god.. don’t do that to me baby, that was cruel."
you chuckle at his words. "i’m sorry. but you were seriously gonna get ready for it?"
"well.. duh?" his says with his usual sass.
"you’re so good to me joey.." you step closer, arms moving around his neck as you give him a quick peck.
"get ready..? c’mon. we’re going now."
"joe, i said i was kidding.. i just seen it on tiktok.." you chuckle.
"and i said… go get ready, cause we’re going. okay?" he gives you a kiss and unwraps your arms from around him.
you went out for dinner that night at a beautiful restaurant, food was delicious, and the night ended perfectly. i’ll let you decide what perfectly is..
