Hey chat, I lowk wanna talk about something that's both pissing me off AND making me worried about one of my favorite game franchises of all time.
So, the new Crazy Taxi game, Crazy Taxi World Tour, has been properly announced with a release year and a steam page to boot after it first was teased back in 2021,
however,
on the steam page there seems to be this... Nasty little part at the bottom that says that AI was used in the development of this game.
Now, usually, I don't get this irate about things, and to be fair, I'm not even a fan of Crazy Taxi, but I'm gonna be so genuine when I say that this could've easily been a win win for Sega if AI wasn't used at all.
Now, I know what you're gonna ask, "Well, DJ, why do you care? You don't even like Crazy Taxi, you said that one paragraph ago." Well, one of the other games that was teased with a reboot in 2021 from Sega was Jet Set Radio.
Jet Set Radio means ALOT to me, it inspired me to be more creative and I also found out who I am because of this game, but the fact that the new Crazy Taxi was made using AI has me worried that this new Jet Set Radio will be made with AI too.
Infact, I'd go as far as to say that if it does, it would go against what Jet Set Radio stood for in the first place.
Because it does.
Jet Set Radio has always been a celebration of human art and culture. From the cell shaded graphics that tried to emulate hand drawings, the graffiti in game that was made out of house by a professional graffiti artist, the soundtrack which has so many genres embedded into it, down to the gameplay itself where you play as an aggressive inline skating graffiti artist.
If Sega does use AI in the making of this new Jet Set Radio reboot, they'd be tarnishing whatever message they're making in dog shit because they're using a system that steals in their process of making this game.
That's not creative, that's slop. Straight up, undeniable slop.
In the very least, I'm excited for what Team Reptile has in store for us with Hyperfunk, at least I know it's going to be made fully by humans.
TL:DR Fuck AI. I'm worried that the new JSR will be made with AI much like the new Crazy Taxi, especially because it goes against what JSR stood for in the first place.

My question is, why is using AI the route they took? Humans can create and draw concepts just fine, that's what a concept artist does best. They're just keeping people who can do it just fine out of a job, killing the planet, and potentially stealing concepts that others made.
Again, it's not creative, it's just slop.
