I'm tired of pretending that Perryshmirtz isn't an age gap ship and that the aspect of their age gap doesn't make the ship more interesting.
Let's be real Perry is objectively younger than Doofenshmirtz. Now I want to stress that Perry is mature for his species when he meets Doofenshmirtz even though Perry is probably around the same age as the boys in human years. But he still has experienced the world for a significantly less amount of time compared to Doofenshmirtz, who's been alive for almost half a century.
And I see that people tend to age human Perry to his 40s so that he's around Doof's age. And my spicy hot take is that more people should depict human Perry in his mid 20s. Give them an age gap you cowards!!! Give them a generational difference to add to the chemistry!!!!!! IT'S GOOD CHEMISTRY
No actually think about it!! Perry being younger makes things so interesting. Perry in either universe is relatively young and new to life. In the Platypus AU all he's ever known is the OWCA and his home in Danville, and a few trips to London. Who knows how much Perry is actually naive to. Imagining Perry discovering new things through Doofenshmirtz unintentionally introducing him to that. Also he's probably pretty repressed and naive because of the OWCA but that's a different conversation (imagine a religious allegory with OWCA censoring Perry from certain stuff)
Imagine human Perry hardly has any experience with drinking alcohol and has never been drunk before so when he is drunk around Doofenshmirtz, Doof knows how to handle Perry and keep him safe from alcohol poisoning or getting hurt and preventing a bad hangover. Because he has drinking experience. He's learned from being drunk in the past on what NOT to do.
It's so fun to imagine Doofenshmirtz being older than Perry and realizing that Perry is in his early adulthood and still figuring himself out. So Doofenshmirtz recognizes that and encourages Perry to explore himself and his own personal values and his identity/asexuality.

It was a calm late evening in downtown Danville. It was late spring weather. The sky was a warm pink color and the cicadas were humming their heart song. Yesterday Isabella had asked Phineas out on a date and to her surprise he had said yes. So they went to the movies to watch that cool robot movie Phineas had been excited about.
“Dude, that movie was so cool!! I mean CGI does some pretty awesome stuff but the practical effects with that android in the temple!” Phineas walked out of the theater holding her hand.
“And those puppets they used for the cute little aliens!” Isabella added.
“Oh my gosh yeah! They were so adorable!”
“Cuter than me?” Isabella flirted.
“Almost,” Phineas said with a smile. He let go of her hand as they sat down on a bench.
“Phineas, today was amazing.”
“Yeah, when it's summer we'll have more time to do cooler stuff. Maybe we could see the Center of the Earth. Or take a trip to Australia, did you know platypi originated from there?”
She giggled and took his hand again, “Yeah I knew that and I'd love to do that with you guys,” she said before kissing him on the cheek.
Phineas was stunned for only a millisecond before he recoiled away from her, letting her hand go.
“What- wh- what was that??” he said wide eyed with panic.
“Shit,” she covered her mouth, “I should have asked first, I'm sorry. I thought we were having a moment.”
“I- ah-,” he stumbled on his words, a million thousands rushing through his head, “No,” he answered, it was the only word he could get out of himself.
Isabella stared back at him hurt and confused, “No? I thought this was a date. Phineas, do you love me?” she blurted out in an awkward teenage panic.
“I- no,” he said before thinking, “wait, no not like that! I mean-.”
He saw the tears in her eyes before she got up and ran away. He just sat there and watched. He felt horrible. He didn't mean to make her cry. Why did he say that??? Why did he say no!? Why didn't he love her??
We walked home confused and upset. He made small talk with his Mom before going up to his room.
His brother Ferb was at his desk working with tools on a circuit board. He heard Phineas walk in and the soft thump of him falling into his bed. He turned around and expected to see Phineas with a lovestruck face bursting to tell him how amazing his date with Isabella was. But instead he saw Phineas curled up with his face in a pillow. He got up and sat on the edge of his bed.
“Dude I'm such a fucking asshole.” Phineas choked out, he sat up next to Ferb. “Isabella kissed me on the cheek and I totally freaked out on her! I don't even know why she did that. We were just having fun and- I don't know. I thought we were just hanging out.”
“You did know you were on a romantic date right?” Ferb asked.
Phineas stared at him with mouth open and shook his head. Ferb gave him a look before glancing away, embarrassed for him.
“You thought I was on an ACTUAL date with Isabella???”
Ferb nodded and gave a worried look.
“Fuuuuck dude, that was probably why she- I- oh my god I ruined everything.” He laid in bed. Ferb laid down next to him.
“She asked me if I loved her and I said no. But I think I hurt her feelings? I'm not in love with her but that doesn't mean I hate her.”
Phineas ran his hand through his hair before looking over at Ferb.
“Is it weird that I'm not in love with her? I mean. We've been friends since forever, not as long as you and me but that's different you're my brother. She's the only person aside from you I'd call my best friend. I guess it'd make sense to date her. Be boyfriend and girlfriend and go to prom together. It happens all the time in those sappy teen movies. But when I think about dating Isabella, I feel gross. Is that weird?”
Ferb stared a moment before slowly shrugging, unsure.
Phineas stared at the ceiling, “I feel so bad.”
The next day of school was weird. He could barely focus on his topology assignment or his culinary class. All he could do was look for Isabella between classes and wonder if he has lost a best friend just because he couldn't reciprocate her romantic feelings. Eventually at the end of the school day he caught her at her locker, “ Hey, uh, I missed you at lunch?”
“Oh I had a dentist appointment, I told you yesterday, remember?”
Phineas felt stupid, “Right yeah that totally slipped my mind. I'm sorry, I couldn't stop thinking about yesterday. We're cool right?”
“Yeah, we’re cool.” She said without much enthusiasm. She felt embarrassed too.
There was a quiet pause.
“I'm so sorry about yesterday, I didn't realize we were on a romantic date. I know I probably should've known you meant it that way when you asked me out on a date but we've been friends for so long I assumed we were just- hanging out.”
“No I'm sorry I kissed you without consent, that was weird. And I probably should have been more clear about my intentions with that date.”
Phineas nodded, “No it's fine, it should've been obvious that's what you meant. So you uh, have romantic feelings for me?”
“I think so? I mean, I've had a crush on you since forever. So. Yeah. I'm guessing you don't feel the same way?”
Guilt flooded his chest, “No I'm sorry I-” his eyes suddenly filled with tears and his throat felt tight.
“Phineas? Are you okay?” she gave him a worried look.
“I think there's something wrong with me. I don't know if I can-,” he hiccupped as tears ran down his face, “I don't think I can fall in love.”
“What? No, there's nothing wrong with you. Hug?” she opened her arms.
Phineas took the hug and cried.
“I feel like a bad person,” he mumbled after a minute.
“Phineas you're not a bad person. Maybe you're just aromantic.” Isabella, who swears she's just good LGBTQIA+ ally, answered.
Phineas pulled out of the hug, “Aromantic?”
“Yeah. You said you don't think you can fall in love with anyone?”
Phineas shook his head in affirmation, “I really don't think so.”
“Then you might just be aromantic.”
“Maybe. So you're not upset about yesterday? I noticed you crying. You know I didn't actually mean to imply that I hate you, I just don't feel that way about you.”
“Yeah, no, I got it. I'll be fine. I was upset but now I feel weirdly relieved that you don't.”
“Wait, you're relieved?” He said, shocked.
“It's like this one thing I've had weighing on my shoulders since I was a little girl is gone and now it feels like ths pressure is off. It's weird."
“I guess we're both figuring out some things. We're still young,” he smiled to comfort her.
“Yeah, I guess you're right,” she smiled back at him, “Well I have to go.”
Phineas offered her a hug goodbye and she took it before running off to her car.
He got on the bus with Ferb and sat next to him.
“Dude, can I talk to you about something?” he asked a few minutes after the bus started down the street
Ferb nodded, his AAC device seated on his lap.
“I don't think I'm straight.”
Ferb blinked and started pressing the digital buttons on his device.
“You are gay?”
“No, I don't think I am. Honestly I don't think I'm interested in anyone.”
Ferb stared him in the eye as if to silently ask him to elaborate, after a pause Phineas spoke again.
“I think all the adults in my life growing up just kinda assumed I was straight so I also assumed I was straight. But now I don't think I can fall in love with anyone. I don't even think I want a relationship if I'm being honest. Isabella says she thinks I'm aromantic. Do you know what that means? I know you're pan-asexual but I was wondering if you knew about the other one?”
Ferb nodded and started pressing more buttons swiftly.
“Aromantic means someone who experiences little to no romantic attraction.”
Ferb continued to press more buttons. Phineas waited patiently.
“A person can also be greyromantic and experience attraction rarely. A person can also be demiromantic and can potentially experience attraction only after an emotional bond.”
Ferb set his device down and looked him in the eye to signal that he was finished. Phineas nodded, thinking hard about it.
“It sounds right but I'm not sure yet- I'm kinda scared to be honest.”
Ferb pressed a button.
“Why?”
“I dunno, realizing you're not straight- Thinking about the possibility that you don't fall in love in a society that prioritizes getting married and having kids. I don't want that. I want to continue making discoveries and inventing awesome stuff. I don't want to get married. It's- it's a lot to think about.”

I didn't like the space between them so they're cuddling now lol. I added fireflies because it just felt right. The fireworks will still be implied when I color these later. I think Perry looks adorable in this one.
Another scene redraw from the Disney chibi-verse short. They're aggravating 💕With some personal changes of course. I know the art style is really simplified on account of this being a chibi universe, but I thought it seems a bit empty that they don't have any movie snacks so I gave them some. To add to the chaos Perry's sitting on the cup holder and his actual drink is on the folded up seat. Of course Doofenshmirtz's popcorn is falling out of his lap. I really wanted to embrace the messy chaos of this scene lol.

This is the first part of me redrawing some scenes from the chibi-verse tiny tales short. I'm not just redrawing it but I'm changing minor things to my preference. First of all Perry isn't wearing his hat, simply because my headcannon is that I don't think he's that attached to his fadora I think he's just kinda wearing it like a work uniform. So my logic is if he's off duty he wouldn't be wearing his hat. Next thing is that he's sitting on the table. This is mostly because I thought it would be really cute to draw and makes the scene even more relaxed and casual. Also so Perry can conveniently be on the same-ish eye level as Doofenshmirtz lol. I chose to draw this scene instead of them both in the Lady and Tramp pose. I feel like a lot of shippers fixate on that part, reasonably because it has romantic connotations. But I actually think Perry tossing the meatball is kinda romantic in a way. Like Perry feels happy and safe enough around Doofenshmirtz to be silly goofy. And I know the general tone of this spin-off series isn't that serious, but I still think it says alot about Perry to do something so rediculous around Doofenshmirtz. He even looked happy when Doofenshmirtz retaliated and launched the bigger meatball at him lol. Also I argue this is romantic because this really feels like flirty teasing lol. Like look at that face 😅
