Like, when you watch the scenes Steve is not returning those same energies. He's guarded. He is so immediately over it with Billy, completely thrown off by Eddie, and frustrated by Jonathan (especially in s5).

Something about how that wall comes crashing down when he's with Dustin and he can be himself, let himself be caring and thoughtful, protective and heroic, goofy and dorky, laugh and joke and and be lighthearted.

Look, I'll put aside the question of sex for now--i get it if that's not what you want to read, explore or imagine between them. But for example, if I were to tag some of my fics that have just kissing and cuddling and other forms of physical affection as "platonic steve and dustin" and include tags like "you can interpret this as platonic kissing" would that somehow make it all okay?

What's the actual line in the sand when it comes to interpreting something as platonic or romantic? And why does the line need to be so firm on NOT interpreting it as romantic? what's the meaningful difference if the language to describe the feelings between steve and dustin is very similar? Language like longing and yearning to kiss one another, and their hearts fluttering in excitement and anticipation.

like i don't understand the animosity for the dusteve shippers when I would imagine all of us would be united in our love for the relationship. Every single dusteve shipper LOVES the platonic friendship we see in the show. And both royalbard fans and dusteve shippers are equally compelled by the deep love, affection and care that steve and dustin have for each other.

Again, to be clear, I don't have a problem with folks not shipping them. What I don't get is this wall you've put up where you are so repelled by the thought of a dusteve shipper reblogging a post of yours that you include DNIs on all your posts. What is the big deal if I were to reblog something of yours? I'm not going to be writing explicit smut in the tags. What I don't get is including warnings all over your fics that its just platonic between them as if it such a terrible thing for a reader to interpret something as romantic.
