don’t settle for a cishet/anyone who doesn’t really get your identity + stays out of it but is “cool with you doing whatever makes you happy.” so much of that is homophobia in disguise and also your partner(s) should be really interested in crucial parts of your identity. if they are all the time but “don’t need to know about the lgbt stuff” that’s not jealousy it’s homophobia? and if you share a new piece of information with your partner(s) + their response is always closer to “that’s nice” than “oh cool can i know more about that?” then Date Someone Else like they’re not even pretending to be interested in what you’re saying which really isn’t all that difficult to do so please. it might not seem like it at your school but there are so so many (more) gay fish in the sea who will treat you like you’re the most interesting person ever + want you to break down all your identities frontwards + backwards. i’m dating one of them, and settling for less would have me feeling as miserable as the many people i’ve met in that former situation who “otherwise really love their partners.” find people who are interested in every aspect of you. if you just need someone(s)/time to experiment then cool but pls try to keep them away from life partner status…. i’ve known too many adults with regrets……… this has been a psa from a (happily engaged!) adult who strictly Shouldnt be giving life advice (finger guns)
